  1. Well, sure, there are circumstances where the RA core is better or works better for a specific configuration. 4DO and a lot of the less often used emulators, though, can be a real mess with the RA core. I also have noticed that their framerate detection, V syncing and resolution control for RA, in general, is rather lackluster. But of course, with all things, especially emulation related, your preferences will vary wildly from person to person, and system to system. The 4DO core is pretty bad tho... :P

  2. I actually ran into this exact issue just a few days ago. Not with CEMu but still, the same kind of problem. The WiiU emulators available right now are VERY early in the stages of development right now. If you must use these images compressed, you can extract them all and then compress the entire directory with NTFS file compression. It is not as good by FAR over 7z, RAR even regular ZIP but it will cut out anything that is easily compressible and save a few hundred megs each on average. Buddy of mine is working on a launcher for LB that should be able to address this problem even if LB never adds this feature directly. This feature and multi-disk mounting from and not from ZIPS is also to be developed but that version won't be even started till at least sometime next month, currently at the paper prototype and flow charts stage.

You may just be stuck with this for the moment or you can try the BAT method, which should work but will be a bit cumbersome.

  3. Hello all you amazing people! I was using LighSpeed for my MAME collection but now I can't anymore because it is no longer compatible with the LB split XML files, this is fine by me because i don't really care that much about doubling up on the media. I do have a problem tho. I am using a Tzipped split MAME set and I just updated it. THismakes me have to use the built in MAME importer. Thing is, it is throwing hundreds of errors and I am not sure if this is something that is new with the beta update, specific to a split set or if it is something I can ignore because of the skipping of some kinds of games. Here is a snap of the first few hundred errors I am getting. I am now up to 622 errors and it is still cranking up rather quickly. Any help here would be appreciated.

    THANKS!

  4. You know, I have the same kind of problem. My games work but all it does is load the 3DO BIOS and not the game itself. I will have to hit F1 and load the game manually, kinda defeating the purpose of using LB in the first place.

I do have a recommendation @mrwasi . I would recommend just using the main 4DO app and not RA core for 3DO emulation. The RA core is MUCH older than the dedicated emulator and the RA core has completely broken Vsync whereas the main emulator does not. I know most people like using the RA cores for stuff because of the shaders and whatnot nut when it comes down to it, you really should use the original emulators instead if that is possible for your setup. I have tested the same thing with 4DO directly and LB loads up the images and runs them perfectly WITH Vsync.

    Good luck, and happy gaming!

  5. MegaMan Classic Soundpack

    View File

All I did was load up some MegaMan NFS files into Nestopia, record these and then do a little cleaning  in audacity. I have always enjoyed the MegaMan music so I thought this was fitting. I kinda just wanted to have to do the Robot Master select jingle when I started LB but I figured, as I went on, that the other sounds were cool enough to use. :)

    Have Fun!

  6. Well, that seems perfectly reasonable as a general rule of thumb. You don't actually want to over complicate things anyways, especially since LBs seems to have a major focus on ease of use. Besides, I think more of those funtastic optimizations are probably higher priority anyways. ;)

  7. I will take note of this and will, at some point I am importing the rest of my collections, provide specific examples as they come up. Sometimes, it's silly stuff like a couple sports title have the 'featuring sport guy' and if you remove that, it works fine but god help you if you should leave it there. :) I am still happier with the way LB/BB does it more so than several other FEs and media collection tools I have used in the past. So I can just say, meh and shrug it off.

  8. At this point, I am not importing anything, this is just a rescan of all of my games for missing images. up to 15000 errors now but it seems that for every few hundred errors I get one or two games in a row that work fine. BUT, this 15K of errors and I am nearly done with the whole process. Last time, I couldn't get past half way before every single image errored out. I took to updating only one platform at a time and that usually keeps the errors down below a few dozen per platform. Seems like the fewer games I process, the fewer errors occur. I wish I could replicate it more easily than having to update all of my media and waiting an average of 6 or so hours before it starts happening.

  9. @Jason Carr I went on ahead and redid the sync like I said I would, just a lot later than I should have. I caught these snaps when there were only about 6500 errors. It takes a huge amount longer to fail and they seem to be all 404 not found or 400 bad requests associated with api.gamebase.com.

  10. It happens with EmuMovies too but not nearly as often. Shouldn't there be some kind of thing where it says 'This is a list of games that don't have matches, this is what I think it is, id this ok or am I wrong?'. I have no idea what this kind of thing would be called or even if it is feasible for the time being but that would be a good idea. The E thing for Pokemon and such should be easy to say that e is equal to é and then it should find it. Right? Or am I just being a dope here? :) Which is likely.

  11. @Jason Carr I apologize wholeheartedly for, in my haste, I closed LB and the errors are no longer there to show you. I did poke through them and most were a bad request and a couple thousand were a file missing message. I am sure to try and update my media again withing the next few days and I will be 100% sure to take a few screenshots for you.

What is curious to me, is that a bunch of the games, I selected manually and they both had media and it downloaded from the edit windows just fine. I will be sure to do more troubleshooting and report back. again, sorry about that.

  12. I am putting this here because I have a feeling the answer is rather simple. I have been trying to sync up my media collection so download images and such that I don't currently have. I put all of my media folders on another drive so space isn't an issue anymore and have been trying to use LBs built in "download metadata and images" feature. This is not a short process either and takes at least 24 hours to do what I have already imported. I have a few questions so I will list them below.

    1. When the process is about half done, I start getting errors. They are all bad requests and I have attached an image of it.
    2. I have checked both all of LB DB media AND EmuMovies media, shouldn't is download the LB DB stuff instead if EmuMovies isn't working for some reason?
    3. Can I just select games that don't have all the media or at least sort by games that don't have a certain media type so I can only parse those? Because I don't want to have to scan or redownload images that have already been acquired.

Thank you in advance for any help you guys can give, I love this community, you are all so helpful!

  13. @Nielk1 I actually exclusively use the Vulkan renderer for RA and the overlay works perfectly for me, maybe there is a difference between the desktop UI and BPM overlays?

The second I got my SC, I thought someone should make a transparent Fullscreen app for using the SC on things where the overlay is completely borked. UWP stuff comes to mind as the only real problem child we have left since M$ has seen fit to block pretty much everything but their own Xinput driver.

On a side note, I got a request from another friend trying to have Netflix added to his steam library and to have it not only open properly but show he is in a non-steam game Netflix. I got it working my using a BAT file and using Proxy to launch it but I think the moment Proxy closes steam thinks Netflix closed because it only lasts a few seconds before the 'playing Netflix' tag disappears. I promised him I would talk to you about it and see if there was anything you could do to help with that. I think this kinda goes hand in hand with UWP stuff too so it may be worth some investigation. I just figured you would be exactly the right person to ask about it. Being able to use the overlay with it would be absolutely amazing. Maybe another feature for Proxy? :D

  14. @percybuttkins Ok, so as of yet, I haven't actually use the regular VBA or VBA-M with proxy yet. I prefer VBA-M over the RA core so I will try and test it out and see what I can find. If I recall, the regular VBA didn't like the overlay at all and with VBA-M I needed to use the DirextX renderer to get the overlay to work. The SC, at the time I last tested it, had issues with very old OpenGL implementations, specifically games that used very old versions of the API. I have seen that in the last six months or so, the VAST majority of those games that didn't work before, do work now.

When you say the Dolphin profile, do you mean the SC config? If you are using the Proxy rename function on a per game basis, then you will need to make a new config for each game because that is how steam keeps track. I use templates and I added it to my guide if you hadn't read the most recent version. This way, it only takes about 5-10 seconds to apply a basic, workable config to a new game and you can further refine this on a per-game basis. I like having RB set to be a turbo fire Z trigger for playing Goldeneye 64, for example. IF this was added the same way for, say, Zelda then it would essentially break the 'just like the GameCube collector's disc' config I use for that game. Alternatively, you can instead of using the platform and game name commands with Proxy, you could just replace that with -name "Dolphin" and it will behave as it Dolphin itself had been added. But then it gets complicated with action sets for multiple game configs and such. Kinda like what I was doing here.

And to think this is what I would consider rudimentary compared to what I was using right before Proxy came and changed my life. :D

If what you mean is Dolphin itself then that is completely a different thing and implies you have not had a previous install of Dolphin with any controls mapped to Xinput devices. I also have made a guide in the steam community specifically referencing Dolphin. In a nutshell, once a game is started and you have confirmed the overlay is working, as in Xinput is being sent to Dolphin, you should just alt-enter to leave fullscreen and open the controller configuration dialog. As long as the overlay has been open once, Dolphin should see the SC and any of your binds just like it would with a 360 controller and you can configure to your heart's content from there. Since the GameCube also had dual stage triggers but did not have stick clicks at all, I would recommend binding the stick clicks for Xinput in Dolphin to the digital click of the GameCube triggers, from there, you bind LSC and RSC to the "full pull" action of the SC and you now magically have full Gamecube dual stage trigger working like it does on a real GameCube Controller. Like I said, if this is your issue there then I have an extensive guide explicitly regarding this exact scenario and how to bind it.

@Nielk1 IF you were to open Notepad via Steam, since the overlay obviously can't work with it, the default behavior is to simply keep using the desktop config. If you have this set to a Xinput config then it WILL still send the Xinput controls. This is one of 3-4 different workarounds for some problematic emulators like CEMU, for example. If you go into BPM and select controller options for that shortcut, you have a checkbox that says "allow desktop config" or some such. If you uncheck this, it will use the shortcuts custom config regardless of whether or not the overlay is working. You will just have to quit the game/app to change the control config since the overlay isn't working. In the event of a game that works with the overlay but does not have GamePad support, you can just use it with the KB/M config instead so that's not an issue typically.

  15. Hi! I just ponied up the $50 for a lifetime premium subscription today and I must say, so far, I love it! I do have a couple questions though and I hope some of you amazing smart people can help a BB newb out. So, I am aware that LB/BB download media automatically. The problem I have it there seems to be no way to force a sync of specifically the platform images. Do I need to download and install these manually or an I just being an idiot again? :P Currently, all I have is a blank black background and no console icons like I see in all the promo videos and I kinda would like exactly that.

Another question I have is this. I have my LB/BB on my OS SSD. I did this because of more than 30K games, and I still have a lot of importing to do, it was just too darn slow to navigate around off of my 4TB HGST NAS drive. I run into another, different problem because of this. I don't really have the space for all the media and so I only get the box fronts for now since that is not too big. Can I split the image directory to another location or drive? If not, can I move JUST the media to another location or drive?

Otherwise, man, this thing is slick. Good job, well worth the couple bucks for the greatly enhanced experience.

    Thanks in advance!
