The ticket says this: I love the idea of using my xbox controller as a mouse to navigate and use my LB interface, but it is quite bad crossing between the platform list and the game pane like crazy. Often you end up getting frozen or stuck because the pointer jumps over to the platform list and changes platform while you think you are still in the games area. I tried my Steam Controller Companion to drive the LB interface and is AWESOME working just like a mouse and even has a keyboard popout for entering text in the search filter, BUT I can't use this tool in LB because then I will get two pointers in different locations, one from CC and one from LB. I can't disable the controller in LB or I won't be able to exit out of some emulators and games without controller automation. I WISH I could just disable the LB controller navigation but not LB controller automation so I could use Steam CC. But even better would be to just have LB make controller navigation better, more like Steam CC.

please vote for this https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/launchbox/issues/2258/make-launchbox-controller-navigation

One thing you could do is just run through the steam import wizard and get them all. Then after they are inside LB, multi select all the games you don't want to show, right click for a mass edit and choose to hide those games so they don't show up in LB (as long as you are not showing hidden games). Then on future steam imports like when you have new games, you won't have to deal with deleting all the ones you don't want to show up anymore because they will remain hidden and LB will only get the new stuff from steam.

Did you try this without the setting to use all controllers? It always happens for me (only in BB) if I don't enable the setting to use all controllers. My firmware and drivers are the latest. Win 10 x64 also with all updates. Weird, I would have thought anyone would hit it with the same setup. I guess I'll just have to leave the setting enabled for using all controllers. Do you want to try it with my BB settings file? If you try it with my file, you'll have to disable the 'use all controllers' setting since my attached file has it enabled (otherwise my BB doesn't work a t all). BigBoxSettings.xml

@noxx, try checking out the antimicro documentation. this might be what you need: https://github.com/AntiMicro/antimicro/wiki/Advanced-Assignments
-
It would probably be easier to use Xpadder or Antimicro to exit games with Start+Select. The steam controller companion disables when full screen games kick in. You can tell it not to disable, but then you would also have to map the gamepad for your games like you would also have to do with Xpadder and Antimicro, but it seems like it would be more of a pain with steam CC.

Well that figures. You can't just disable the LB controller part for LB gui navigation, but keep the automation part enabled (for closing apps and adjusting volume). That sucks. So, I can't use this app to controll the LB gui because I need to keep the LB controller automation part for exiting games and adjusting volume. If I don't disable the LB controller with this steam app running, then i get two mouse pointers trying to navigate and double buttons.
-
Just bought it because you reminded me about it. It looked pretty cool to me before. It makes for much better Launchbox control than LB's builtin implementation to navigate and control the LB gui with the controller. However, the guide/home button still doesn't work with any key I bind it to in the Controller Companion app!! I emailed the company of this app to ask them about that.
-
I think it's just not available (probably because of the driver i guess) for a programmer. I asked the Xpadder creator and he also told me it's not possible at this time.
-
Bummer is that neither antimicro or xpadder work for the xbox one guide button

@noxx , one thing to note when using a platform(node) like "System" as you have done (I do it also but call it Tools), is that it will also show up in Attract mode, because you cannot exclude certain platforms(nodes) from Attract mode, unfortunately.

Windows has built-in command line for a shutdown and restart. You can also use simple batch files with the single command to shutdown or restart. Restart example on Win10: shutdown /r /t 0 Shutdown example: shutdown /s /t 0 You can add /f also if you want to force the shutdown/restart, killing any process that is not cooperating. shutdown /? will show you all the options, like a timer or other things if interested. Some version of Windows use a dash for the parameters instead of a slash. Check using the shutdown /? command

It may not be BB taking all that time. It could bee mostly Windows. So, if you close BB and then manually open it from there, just how long does that take? I'm guessing not all that long?

hi @carpe_k9, i created a little script to try to handle pressing alt-y on that popup automatically. just add this file ffxiii.exe as a BEFORE additional app for these two games. let me know if it works or not. ffxiii.exe

I'm assuming it happens when any emulator is running or just not having LB in focus. When LB is in focus and idle, I think it also uses this amount of cpu, which was my original statement. It seems like the "background caching" is still using up cpu when not in focus, or something about LB is using cpu. So, if you're only seeing 1% in task manager (times the number of cores) with your LB not in focus, I'm guessing you see that same amount when your LB is in focus (but idle). I'd like to see it take no cpu at all when not in focus, because I'm cpu bound on some stuff. Edit: I'm taking my cpu sampling using Performance Monitor (built into Windows) with it set to log LB usage every second. Task manager isn't really a great tool for checking this.
-
According to Performance Monitor, while logging cpu usage for launchbox.exe only when a MAME game is running and in focus, it is showing ~11% cpu usage exactly every 5 seconds. I have 4 cpu cores. I don't think that will help me when running cpu intensive games and emulators.
-
@Jason Carr , related to cpu, if I watch task manager launchbox.exe while LB is just sitting there, I see the cpu spike up about every 5 seconds. I'm concerned if this also happens while in game? Does LB stop doing this when not in focus I hope? Is this related to your cpu fix or just something that has always been there?

Does 7.3 fix the enabling of two xbox controllers freezing up BB?
-
Thanks @Jason Carr. I've had my xbox one controllers for a couple months now and I haven't hit a single issue with them in any normal pc game or emulator. I think all the nightmares you've heard about are pretty much gone with these controllers on Win 10. They seem as solid as the xbox 360 controllers I replaced. The good thing is that they work fine together in BB as long as I have the setting to use all controllers.

Enabling second controller freezes Bigbox https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/launchbox/issues/2200/enabling-second-controller-freezes-bigbox

I cannot quote and reply in this browser without some other text populating from some other old quote automatically. =/ , Anyway, no time to install clean older LB. But I have no idea when this started happening because I never tried to have two xbox one wireless controls running with BB open until just now. I always used only one til now.
-
Thank goodness I found a workaround! I must enable all controllers in BB controller settings. If I just leave it to one controller, BB is toast when you try to have a second controller.
-
Well, I'm major bummed guys. I have 7.1 and I have found a nasty bug to squash my being able to run Bigbox with xmas guests coming over right now. Any time I turn on my second xbox one wireless controller bigbox compeltely freezes. And if I try to launch BB with both controllers on, bigbox gui will never show but process runs. Not happy @Jason Carr

Dark Souls 3 just went on sale on Steam for 29.99. Thinking about getting it... Street Fighter 5 dropped to 19.99 so I did just pick that up.
