  1. someone in the support discord just reported a crash in BB: Rogkun- Today at 8:50 AM That worked, thank you. However, this was with an untampered install with the default theme. Might be something to look into at some point. Just in case its needed: Running a 1060 Nvidia card, i7, and 16 gb of ram. Should be enough for less than 30 games (all validated and running fine, no crazy amount of art or anything)(edited) Also, just had it crash for some reason when switching between games in Big Box. (using VLC settings and low-quality vids). It died mid transition between F-Zero and Earthbound. Unsure if this is a common issue or not.
  2. @Jason Carr , does this mean it might help my situation of not having mame game IDs and mass download of arcade gameplay screenshots for all my mame games that i haven't fixed yet one by one? oh please say yes...
  3. weird, for one of the games that is showing clear logo instead of gameplay screenshot, i see it does have a gameplay screenshot in the mame/screenshot - gameplay folder so i drag and dropped it into the edit game images part and it added it as "box - front"?? don't get what's going on with images here.

  5. in my LB images/mame/screenshot - gameplay folder i see a bunch of actual screenshot file names that got changed from the normal game like name to something like 1942.13dd3890-d49e-47e8-b2d9-7d3731f9c8ed-01 with weird long string appended to the end of the name. so i think those are the ones i lost screenshots for in LB

  7. i think i just hit this too when i replaced my mame platform with my new killer no filler rom set. i have tons of clear logo games in LB now instead of my former gameplay screenshot. so now i'm having to go one by one in each game to remove the duplicate clear logo, click search database to get the arcade game ID'd, click the download button to choose gameplay screenshot and download. it's killing me! Edit: thread i started the other day about this:
  8. i also just looked at some of the games that still have a gameplay screenshot, but those don't have game Ids either. so LB didn't identify or give any of my imported rom games an ID automatically, even though it can find them when i do it manually one by one. Hoping for a fast solution, because at this pace I'll never finish updating each game with a screenshot one by one
  9. i don't think the game's "ID" is the %romfile%. it's the game's database ID. i suppose some people have asked for access to that and it got added.
  10. also, i chose folder to import my mame roms. they are all together in one folder except a few CHDs are in their own sub folder. LB decided to also create a game for each chd file (didn't have many luckily), which i did not expect and had to find those in LB and delete them. guess you should use the file option when importing mame into LB instead. i'm up to the G's now, manually picking the arcade game name from the drop down list for each mame game that doesn't have a screenshot =/ for each game with no db id, when i click search, i get a drop list to select the arcade name, or wikipedia name, or sometimes several other console's names. so i just keep picking the top one which is the game name for arcade. i wish it did this automatically since it is supposed to be scraping for arcade. so just to be clear on my exact process here of what i did: - delete all mame games from platform "mame" in LB (all of them had a clear logo and gameplay screenshot already) - use import rom wizard to import all my new set of mame roms (much smaller set), and deselect all images since i already have them - after import, all my clear logos are still there, but many games don't have a gameplay screenshot anymore and those are the ones that also got no db id for the game name - go into each game missing a screenshot, search db, select name for arcade, click download, checkbox for gameplay, download it, move on to next game
  11. "symbolic links" just allow you to redirect the contents of a folder to some other folder or drive, but an application looking at the original folder has no idea anything changed. Here is an example of how to do this. The below example was used to move the LB image cache folder from a usb drive to a ssd drive, but you can just replace the paths with the ones you want (below the C path is the folder you want to change to, like your SSD): mklink /J R:\LaunchBox\Images\Cache C:\LaunchBox\LaunchBoxLinks\Images\Cache so, the above command creates a link (like a shortcut) here R:\LaunchBox\Images\Cache , which means you first move anything inside that folder to your new destination folder and then delete R:\LaunchBox\Images\Cache before running the command because the command will create R:\LaunchBox\Images\Cache , which will actually point to C:\LaunchBox\LaunchBoxLinks\Images\Cache . in windows explorer it will still look like all the original files are still inside R:\LaunchBox\Images\Cache , but they really are not. hope that help.
  12. i'm trying to download a gameplay screenshot for many of these games but i'm having to do it one by one. is there anyway to not have to do this one by one?
  13. i just imported 653 mame games (platform=MAME) with scrape as arcade. it seems to have identified almost nothing with a game id unless i go into each and every game and click 'search for metadata' . this seems to keep happening on my imports, not just with MAME. it seems to be a problem, because LB isn't pulling down my missing images until i go into each game to search metadata so it can get an id for it and then click on Download Images/Media. version 7.6 beta 1
  14. Got it all taken care of. Great set. Now my entire collection is only just under 10GB
  15. i didn't read through all of this, but you might find mklink a good solution to changing default LB paths to actually look somewhere else if you need or want to do that, using symbolic links.
  16. I'm thinking to throw out my current mess of a MAME set(who knows what rom version), download the 180 complete set, then use this batch file(s) to get the resulting killer no filler set. Would that be a "split rom set"? What is it about "split rom set" that this is required for the batch files? Looking at the batch files, it just seems like all the game zips should be on the same folder with the batch. I'm assuming this just gives you the good stuff and leaves out all the junk? Did anyone find it's missing something good? I just want the good arcade games, no mahjong, puzzles, casino, or other junk. Does it copy the CHD folders too or do you have to do that manually for the CHD games? Why are some commented out? Are they bad or duplicates or crappy? I think I'll make one batch file of them all, but excluding puzzle. This seems really awesome. I can't wait to drastically reduce my MAME rom set size and still have all the good stuff.
  17. I think it was added only in the last official release And just for your FYI and to bring you up to speed, I think it was added to improve the new feature of the startup video for BB. And you'll also notice that a special command line of launchbox.exe will also be running when you run bigbox.exe as it is responsible for making sure to restore the taskbar after BB closes. If you disable the taskbar hiding (like i did), then launchbox.exe won't run alongside bigbox.exe. For me, I also have a background script that checks if LB or BB process is running and does certain things, so having both running at the same time was not good for me at all and I don't even notice anything different anyway by disabling the hide taskbar feature.
  18. I am in TOTAL agreement with this statement. Add Android, and PC LB/BB bug fixes and feature dev gets crippled. I hope full focus remains on PC LB/BB.
  19. That is the default design for BB now. You can disable that in options.

    VERY laggy

What is freezing? Launchbox or Bigbox? What if you don't have any controllers plugged in and try with keyboard, is it any different? Did you try the setting to use all controllers?

That should be no problem for your system. I have more than twice as many games and mine works fine with an older cpu than you have. Did you let LB run long enough the first time to cache all the images it needs to cache? After waiting for this, it "should" be fine.
  22. Yes, you simply set the LB keyboard mappings to use your desired x-arcade buttons as if the x-arcade is a keyboard. I use the left side button on my x-arcade to exit games/emulators because I have that button programmed as the escape key, for example. See if you can use your keyboard keys (same ones as you have your x-arcase set to) to do what you want. If you can, then x-arcade should work too.
  23. I have been dying for this since I started using Launchbox. 25. What I'd really prefer over remembering the last platform, is just to be able to set a default startup platform. I just wanted to use 'remember last platform' as a way to try to start on the platform I want to start on since this option does not exist. It would be better to me if the setting was just changed to specifying what platform you want to start on. I'm not sure how many people actually want 'remember last platform' as opposed to a default startup platform.
