  1. If a perfectly valid entry has been deleted for some reason, then re-adding it back in is the way to go. Sometimes duplicate entries get deleted as they should, but not everyone understands the fact that sometimes two differently named entries are one and the same game. For example... I submitted this for deletion. This game was released in Asia as Brush Roller and in Europe (more specifically Spain) as Booky Man (as per box title). Now, the reason for deleting Brush Roller was because the game was released outside Asia, the title of European release takes priority over Asian one. Basically, if a game has been released in North America, the name of that release takes priority over every other region. After that, Europe and after that Asia/Japan and rest of the world. So NA-> EU -> JP/Asia etc. This is one of the reasons why GamesDB has Alternate Name field, so that we can easily group different regional releases of the same game in one entry, thus avoiding duplicates. You certainly did the right thing by submitting that entry for deletion, but I guess someone was adamant to adding it back in. In this case the responsibility falls to us, the moderators of the database, to research if the entry to be added is actually valid or not.
  2. Skraper scrapes data from https://www.screenscraper.fr/, which supports more than one language for game overviews. Launchbox scrapes data from https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/, which supports only one language, English.
  3. Other bug being that trying to add, modify or delete alternative name(s) sometimes produces an error. Doesn't happen that often though and is probably a problem with specific database entries (corrupted?), but yeah.
  4. Ditto, would be a handy feature to have. Although for me, even better would be if LB could show the filenames of combined games on the game detail section. Some versions of the same game do get mixed up with other entries, and it would certainly help with identifying them much easier and faster. I guess this could be an option for the next poll, doubt it would get enough votes though.
  5. Startup screen fading into the game not important to me at all Don't need bezels, RA and MAME have them and that's more than enough for me if I ever want to use them Pause screen is the most exiting feature for me. I'd very much like the ability to open the game manual, map or strategy guide straight from the pause screen whenever I need to look up something. Another cool thing would be a timer, which would track your playtime.
  6. Unfortunately you can't do that straight from GamesDB, since us users can't flag platforms for deletion. There doesn't seem to be a Bitbucket for GamesDB anymore either, so that's out of the question as well. I'll just tag @Jason Carr and hope he sees this and can find the time to delete the duplicate entry. Link
  7. Awesome work and great to see some love for Saturn, especially Japanese releases!
  8. Some game entries are borked that way in the GamesDB. I've encountered a few myself, when trying to change or update information, all I get is an "Error Occured". And I'm guessing GamesDB is a low priority right now, so...
  9. Using Beta 16. Something I've noticed with LaunchBox.Next is when using List View, and you sort games by release date for example. Every time you choose a game from the list and click "Edit" (or just Ctrl+E) and click OK, it resets the sorting to alphabetical order. Is this on purpose, or just something you weren't aware of? Edit: This doesn't happen when Images View is chosen.
  10. Just came across these as well, didn't accept the deletions since no reason was given and neither of them are duplicates either. But like @Mr. RetroLust said, sometimes you go into auto mode where you just click accept before realizing that you might've made a mistake. I would like this as well.
  11. Seems to be working just fine now, thanks for the fix.
  12. Thank you for the update, this theme is simply superb!
  13. This is what I've been doing as well. Although technically correct if you add Inc. etc at the end, I prefer to leave it out. I also use the company name they used during the release of the game and IMO this is the correct way to do it. I don't think this is possible at the moment, nor do I know if Jason wants to do something like this in the future.
  14. IMO since we prefer Western releases over Japanese ones, it should go like this: NA > EU > Japan. So in this case you would add Gunner's Heaven as alternate name for Rapid Reload and delete the Japanese entry. If we used whichever title the game has originally, we'd have a lot more Japanese titles as the main one.
  15. I'd personally go with NA or US but you can just leave the region empty if you don't feel comfortable with that. I've seen unofficially translated English titles use mostly those two or in some cases World.
  16. Japanese one should be used for those platforms that received a release only in Japan. Same as above, if a game was released only in one country/region, use that name. In this particular case, Rockman & Forte since the game was only released in Japan. You can add translated names as alternative, so in this example you would use Majuu Ou as the main title and King of Demons as an alternate title. This guideline hasn't been updated for a while, but you'll get a better idea how we go about with naming conventions etc.
  17. This definitely needs work, but first and foremost we'd have to decide what naming standard to use, for example should Apogee Software be just that or should we follow, let's say MobyGames naming standard and use Apogee Software, Ltd. Then again, the only way to get rid of these would be to not allow users to create their own dev/pub names like one of the four above, but choose from confirmed list of names that have been verified and locked for modification. So you would type "Apogee" to find the publisher, and you could only choose the one verified and confirmed name for the company instead of creating a new one by typing Apogee Soft etc.
  18. It really is a shame to lose such a devoted and helpful staff member. All the best in your future endeavors and take care, I hope you'll still be around here from time to time.
  19. Would any of you mind replacing Spanish overview text with English, while you're going through the entries? I don't see any reason not to.
  20. English is the preferred language, so yes you can. For example, I've done it to a couple of games that had overviews in German or Spanish.
  21. Indeed, what a difference in speed! Before this I usually had plenty of time to do other stuff after accepting/rejecting a submission and waiting for a new one, but now everything moves at lighting speed. So awesome.
  22. I hope I wasn't the only one who rejected that one. Maybe some of the mods are on autopilot mode and just hit accept at everything. Would be nice indeed to be able to revert changes you've made that have wrong images/label/info.
