  1. So what do you guys advise in terms of switching on / off Windows 10 bits and bobs if i have a machine out in the field that usually is NOT connected to the net at all, however if i need to Teamviewer into it it of course needs to access the net for that session. What is the ideal way to ensure it doesnt go crazy whilst and after i let the machine loose to the world so to speak?.. Turn off defender / keep on? etc. Many thanks
  2. Anyone?? What did my log uncover about bigbox? something bad / needs fixing?
  3. Is it something to do with VLC perhaps? WMP has bad artefacts on a number of videos so that is unacceptable unless there is a WMP plugin i can use?
  4. Im quite sure it is Attract mode causing my crashes... I have also had the same weird problems like you have including the hidden bloody mouse pointer which is very frustrating. From the test i did last night it lasted a long time when I only allowed Attract mode for one system, and after 5 minutes AND 40 seconds a clip instead of 10. I read a report about how hibernation in general on PC's cause quadruple ram usage calls. I use Hibernate, however its always been freshly rebooted before doing any tests. Keen to hear what comes back from the log i posted. Saw Something called Coinops which seems to be punching at the moment, but i have bigbox just where i want it right now, ALOT of r+d has gone into this
  5. Anythoughts on this? Did my Log uncover any issues?
  6. The latest, upgraded it two days ago to include the high score logging
  7. I have a feeling that this is due to Attract mode. I have done numerous tests today, bear in mind a test takes a good couple of hours so can only do so many.. however if i approach at about the time i feel its about to go its always hellaslow!... can bearly get to the reboot menu to refresh it. Its clearly using up some resources some where. I am now running a test of attract mode on > no switching platforms > doesnt start for 5 minutes > stays on game for 40 seconds as opposed 10 seconds before. In theory my thinking here is that it may last 4x as long. Who knows. Will know in an hour or so roughly. Thoughts please regardless as i do need a fix or some suggestions.
  8. Here you go - Left the machine over night and returned again to Desktop, no error.. Seems this log was created just before 1am.. Which means it had been on just running (with no input) for just under 2 hours. If im going to use Bigbox then I need these units to stay on, its quite important so any help appreciated. A few notes : - I have 8GB of ram (is the system running out of ram, after only 2 hours?!) - Using Unified - Changed Cover flow to Lowest (even though i would rather a higher setting) - Opened up VLC in Launchbox\thirdparty folder and unticked two prompts which seemed as though it was asking to collect data from the net (These machines are not connected to the net so thought it maybe that). Here is the log attached Thanks Debug 2020-04-29 08-12-09 PM.log
  9. ok thanks.. If i turn it on now i should see when it did it earlier right and report back? (I assume not after thinking about it haha.. its now on)
  10. hi guys - so after leaving big box on for a while, i come back and its normally always back to desk top.. no error message or anything. ive searched and seen that it sometimes can be VLC related and changing to WMP helps... Ive changed to WMP and not been able to leave it long enough to test fully however many of the videos play not too great compared to VLC.. so idealy want to stay with VLC however need to fix this crashing out problem somehow.. Anyone have any ideas? Perhaps an update of VLC or WMP??
  11. For Streetfighter if you use more than one credit the units column of your score is the amount of credits you have used.. So you see a score which is say, 1,523,784 then they have used 4 continues to get there. Should be "0" to be fair.. I doubt other games are like that though.
  12. interesting first post...... Anyway, Dont fall for it, this is misleading, 7000 unique arcade games?. Do you have the list?
  13. Ha yeh true. Well from turn on to being able to select a game its about 60 seconds. So not exactly fast, but its kinda ok.. main thing is power switch putting it into hibernation. That works amazing
  14. Yes i thought so too. So, mine is pretty much working perfect now leaving explorer, hidden start bar and recycle bin, black desktop, all hidden... If i shelled it would there be an advantage? The only thing i can see is quicker loading?.. if thats not significant then ill just leave it the way it is.
  15. Not had a chance to check but looking at it on google, if i check the "start at windows start up" does this mean its started BEFORE explorer starts?
  16. Lovely. Thanks mate will see how it goes
  17. could i take a look at your 3rd party volume tool please?. Are you saying it can work even if Explorer hasnt loaded? i.e: if i shell it
  18. thanks Kondorito and Cointos, they sound like they would work nicely. however in the last hour i have i stumbled accross this : I did everything apart from the shell at the end due to the volume problem. However, something odd, if i dragged the Taskbar to the right of the screen it would never flash up for 5 seconds, it would stay hidden!.. Perfect.. I just put bigbox in my start up and its all good. The only sign of windows is when it briefly auto logs in but i have my logo as my avatar so its looking ok. Another thing which seems really handy is changing the power button to hibernate instead of power off. It boots up within seconds nicely. I have tried losing the power from the wall too and it keeps the last state nicely on the hard drive.
  19. only problem is how to make the Taskbar autohide when it starts. it starts visible then autohides after about 5 seconds.. Looks shoddy, any idea?
  20. Hmm - ok, i was thinking thats probably my only way. If i do this, and because it is in an arcade cab I want no sign of windows at all.. So i guess i can easily hide taskbar, black the screen, hide the bin etc... Cheers mate
  21. hi Guys - I have Shelled win10 so it goes straight into Bigbox... I am using an iPac and shifted JoyUP and JoyDOWN to volume controls... Joy Left is Back and Joy Right is Pause.... both Joy Left and Right work, however Up and Down (Volume up and Down) doesnt... If i taskmanager > Explorer so my start bar etc all loads up then works... I assume something related to controling volume is stopped when i shelled to go straight to Bigbox.. How do i get bigbox AND whatever this volume program is to start? thank you
  22. Ahhh ok mate thanks. Youre probably right. Only keen on pal and usa if not a duplicate perhaps
  23. Hey proghodet. So. On this channel there is a video saying 4200 ps2 games... This seems waaayyyyy too many. A quick search brings back about 1200-1500 is the more accurate figure?
  24. Ah ok. This seems spot on. I will take a look. Thank you for this. All the sources i have seen so far seems very all over the place... Im trying to see how close i can get to these silly systems offering 40/50/60/100k games.... Or how to argue against them
  25. Put my speed rebuttal to one side actually.. my main point is you pick 10 snes users back in the day and 90% used pal games. (Edit: id say back at school 1 guy had one, so ill change this to 95%) Anyway, this is distracting sorry.. if anyone has any idea or comments on the list that would be appreciated. Some people must have thoughts on 1 or 2 of them
