I happened to be updating my MAME set when I noticed ClrMAMEPro update an svg file... I couldn't believe it...the LCD files are in the MAME game files! When I did my PowerPoint recreation in 2021/2022 I checked the MAME Artwork files and couldn't find the LCDs - and I never thought they'd be in the game files (I thought they were dumps only). So to date I've been running MAME, changing the video options to screen only, doing a screen capture, modifying the screen shot then vectorising it. Whilst a tough call, I decided I needed to go back through my 2026 Photoshop recreations over the last 6 weeks and re-do the LCDs again using the proper MAME svg's. It is very annoying TBH - I had already completed the 60 fronts and 40 backs. On the plus side, I noticed on the Wide Screen series that a few of the game box fronts have parts of the LCD backgrounds in front of the LCD...so I've just completed working through that. So the Silver Series, Gold Series and Wide Screen Series fronts are now re-done (again). Need to re-do the Wide Screen series backs, the Multi Screen Series (that'll be tough) and the rest before I'm back to where I was last....definitely put me back a week or more. Anyway, a quick example of Octopus unit re-done below (that took me a whole day!):

Still working through the box backs. Mario's Cement Factory and Manhole (both the New Wide Screen series). The little cartoons are tough...took hours to re-cut them.

Pretty much there on the (tall) MULTI SCREEN box backs (Pinball back example below). Slow progress as all the letters in the text need spacing differently.

Tackling the backs now. Here's BALL, MANHOLE and PARACHUTE (I'll not post every one I do here....don't want to bore people with all the backs).

To Do list now looks like: micro vs. systems - the black on the controllers seems to have depth shading Table Top - finish replacing French for English on units All LCD's - maybe layer mask the grey backgrounds for consistent background colour Maybe Re-cut "G&W", "Multi Screen", "Wide Screen" and "Panorama Screen" logos

Current "To Do" list once I've re-created all 60 (to do before I start on the box backs / sides / logo's) Silver Series - check Fire's blue colour Multi Screen All - bottom clasp (maybe needs to be extended to left 1 or 2 pixels) New Wide Screen - DK Jr - check red on Logo (maybe darker?) Super Mario Bros Special - re-cut ribbons Super Mario Bros Special - check ribbon ends Table Top - DK Jr - check brown on cartoon (maybe lighter?) Panorama Screen - Mario's Bombs Away - check logo red Panorama Screen - Popeye maybe misaligned compared to rest Panorama Screen - Snoopy maybe misaligned compared to rest Super Color - maybe misaligned (should Nintendo be central?) Super Color - Crab Grab - is the box colour too dark? Crystal Screen All - re-cut logo Crystal Screen All - maybe create a black LCD window (as opposed to drop shadow) Crystal Screen - Balloon Fight - maybe thicken LCD characters Crystal Screen - Balloon Fight - model number letters too thin Multi Screen - Pinball - re-create logo micro vs. systems - Donkey Kong 3 / Hockey - re-cut DK logos (also used else where) New Wide Screen - Mario The Juggler - re-cut logo micro vs. systems - the black on the controllers seems to have depth shading Table Top - finish replacing French for English on units All LCD's - maybe layer mask the grey backgrounds for consistent background colour Maybe Re-cut "G&W", "Multi Screen", "Wide Screen" and "Panorama Screen" logos

Squish and Bomb Sweeper. Mainly cleaned up the front artworks, but re-created the Pocketsize/Game & Watch artefact and the game logo's.

Crystal Screen games below. Definitely WIP! (but I am making progress). I've isolated the plastic unit and split the border, buttons and LCD surround so that I can perspective warp the front and LCD in). The Crystal Screen logo probably needs to be made from scratch. Getting there though.

Donkey Kong 3. I have noticed that the controllers seem to have some depth shading on the black circle parts. I'll look into that.

Yes I will be...just want to make sure they're all re-created and checked before I do.

Here are all the WIP Panorama Screen games. All the units re-cut and upscaled. All the fonts etc checked / updated.

Mario's Cement Factory. Again - to note - I did do the whole G&W series back in 2021-22, but I really only had PowerPoint and a few other tools. I'm a lot better at Photoshop now, I have an upscaler, I'm vectorising assets where I can and I'm finding fonts / manipulating them to match the original artwork better....plus I'm mastering these at Width:7680 by XXXX.

First couple of the Table Top games. I need to try and perspective warp the English text over the units (as these are French)...but want to get the main template / 4x Table Tops done first. These are taking time though as the cartoons take a lot to clean up (and the DK Jr logo was a pain too).

A few more of the New Wide Screen. These are harder as they have artwork that I've tried upscaling...but still doesn't look as good as just expanding out in Photoshop. But I've improved the Manhole and Super Mario Bros logos and tidied up everything else I could.

I've also gone through all the Multi Screen games and re-worked the LCD Backgrounds now. Most needed Cyan / Magenta / Yellow / Green channels playing about with, but some needed layer masks, Tree Browns isolated, some colours changing (a lot of the MAME scans - which to be fair are from the units themselves - had black print...and it doesn't look like a lot of the box artwork did) etc. Anyway - a Before, After and the original Box Scan from Mario Bros. below.
