@Jason Carr @Lordmonkus I just had an update again with version 8.5 but there is no difference in the change log, know what's up?

Someone mentioned the gpu is quite important for smooth navigation in BigBox as well, so it could be that part which is slower maybe? For me my mame list (6500 games atm) is slower than lists with under or around hundred games and my system is sufficient enough, just gotta clean out the mame folder and its immense size of media files in a slow pace, i've downloaded all media in triple amount: from launchbox, emumovies and seperate media packs all thrown in lol so its no wonder it's seeking and sorting quite some data lol good luck with the mancave <- its the best thing ever ??
-
Ps. Very long lists with thousands of games do make bigbox slower as well btw
-
When I started with launchbox I run it at a slower and unstable system, it crashed a lot (not because of launchbox btw) which caused my data folder to become corrupt at times it seems quite sensitive for crashes. What I did was make a folder inside launchbox folder and called "_Backup" in which I store a copy of the contents, it's not very large as its xml files mostly. I know launchbkx makes auto backups but this one time I wasnt able to restore corrupted xml files with these so I do it manually now which saved my ass a few times on that system. The media folders could be backupped on another disc like images and videos if you customized them a lot if not then you could only backup the data folder and if a crash may appear you could download all media from the scraper again. Basically you could backup your entire collection ofcourse lol but just a few tips in how I do it. SSD seems to be the best and fastest way but a bit more expensive, do keep in mind the slower loading times could occur because of a lower end system, slow gpu but also which theme you use, always check if the default theme is causing slownes as that one should be the fastest. Turning off all background images within launchbox image priorities settings helps speed up as does setting all transitions to none within bigbox settings.

Imagine you had this machine as a child in the 80's, it would be the universe at your fingertips. Great work bro!
-
PS I am not sure but you also have to include those user control headers "xmlns" to make stuff work but you probably know more about this than I.

I did make a theme based on someone else his theme but to be honest I don't know everything about it still, but I learned a lot. Below I paste some out of the documentation that comes in the default theme folder, these are the possible codes to display video's as far as I know. You mind want to ask around in the thread "XAML tips & tricks" <called something like that, thats where the real experts are. Good luck bro! SelectedPlatform vs. ActivePlatform Please note that with the below properties, anywhere SelectedPlatform is used, ActivePlatform can be used instead. ActivePlatform will wait for the selection to be completely updated before updating, while SelectedPlatform will update immediately upon selecting a new platform. ImageVideoTransitionSelector <transitions:TransitionPresenter Grid.Row="1" TransitionSelector="{Binding ImageVideoTransitionSelector}" Content="{Binding ImageVideoView}" IsContentVideo="true"/> BackgroundView The view to use for the background; will return a view of type BackgroundView or ImageVideoView <transitions:TransitionPresenter TransitionSelector="{Binding BackgroundTransitionSelector}" Content="{Binding BackgroundView}" Height="{Binding ElementName=Canvas, Path=ActualHeight}" Width="{Binding ElementName=Canvas, Path=ActualWidth}" IsContentVideo="true" />

Don't know if it could help you guys but the way I remove or I should rather say 'keep' the video files from a platform is by dragging all videos in the location where the rom files are stored, this way I can easily see which ones to delete as the names of the rom files are identical to the names of the videos, at least that is the way I set it up.
-
Thank you for all your videos they are excellent bro, hope to see more of your work in the future.

Madness, one step beyond! ?

Are you sure this is because of Launchbox? Do you have this outside of Launchbox as well some times? I ask this because I've gone through many mice in case this could help you: Once they start double clicking on their own the spring of the buttons are wearing out (there are tutorials how to fix them but I never managed to do so), I have had this problem a lot and only found out what the cause after many mice lol I don't buy expensive mice anymore as they have the exact same problem as cheap ones.

The Project has officially started, please read: @jvlk @Mr.Laor @Kondorito @goofers @harryoke @RetroKenesis @Orionsangel -
Should it not be a kind and social gesture when someone does not speak English (the main language spoken by the hosts of this house) to translate their own text in google translate (if you know how Launchbox works you do know how google translate works) so another person would not have to? I mean I am not an English native speaker but I would never talk in Dutch here (Although I have when someone talked Spanish to me to make a point lol), if I couldn't speak English I would translate it as a gesture of kindness towards others, I would feel bad if I would let others translate what I typed. I could even type in Dutch in that scenario and paste the same text translated in English beneath it. I am a bit annoyed, while moderating, a person (maybe more) are also talking in Spanish when giving their reasons for changes and even go that far to edit descriptions of games from English to Spanish. I don't think this is the right way to go, simply for the reason to keep it simple for everyone, if we all would talk our own language (there are quite a few countries present here) and we all had to grab a translate tool wouldn't that complicate things far too much and cost loads more time while it could be so simple? Anyhow, I respect everyone and your decisions this is just my given opinion on the matter. 'Dank u wel' (I'll provide a link for your ease: https://translate.google.com/), muchas gracias.

Thanks Neil, great work!

Figured out how google drive works, can I have your email address in pm so I can add you to the drive soon? That is if you want to seriously take part in the project still of course, there are very small folders and bigger ones for you to choose from. It's pretty addictive work once you get started and see the results in BigBox, if we all chip in this could be done within a month, maybe two. Quite historic as well as nobody seems to have done this before, since the start of Mame, we could make a lot of people happy with this I think (I'll quit trying to convince you now ) @jvlk @Mr.Laor @Kondorito @goofers @harryoke @RetroKenesis I'm not sure if you want to participate as well? @Dan @damageinc86 @Orionsangel Personally I'm going to pause my other projects until this is done. More info soon, gonna make it as clear and simple as possible for us to work with including video of samples etc. -
Uh oh, behold Jason wants us to crash now ??

Transparent Arcade Cabinets > Calling an Army of Photoshoppers
Mr. RetroLust replied to Mr. RetroLust's topic in Game Media
Thanks for explaining this bro! Okay then we'll keep it easy and I think a lot faster proces of working. We'll work on the basic images and leave the higher res up to the creators. Anyone experienced of working with google drive? We'll need a drive or other place to store and work from. -
Been there before aaarrrgh, taking an internal hdd (system/windows partition) to a new pc, in my messing around trying to fix it I ended up with around 3 different permission settings/accounts as I didnt knew what I was doing, in the end I managed to fix it but I'll be damned if I can recall it. The fastest way would be formatting the drive again I guess.

I'm preparing the package from progrettosnaps so we can put it on a drive so we all have the same structure to work with including the updates etc, it's now batch converting all images to rgb so we dont have to deal with that as well, i'm also putting them in alphabetical folders for ease of structure. There is one problem though, all these have Mame rom names, now this in itself is great for compatibility reasons although it does make it harder to find higher res cabs on google images for instance when not having the full name present. @Kondorito do you have any thought/ideas on this matter? Maybe we should batch remove backgrounds from these and after this project anyone can replace them in the database with higher res versions on his own? Or is there a tool that automatically renames the .png files to it's right name? < Although wouldnt that endanger compatibility seeing frontends might use different names? Another idea (if it can be done automatically) a name structure like "romname - full_name.png"? Any thoughts are very welcome. -

Thanks for the explanation, I changed the name to brush and it worked, I get 3 layers although I am not sure what exactly is the plan lol I guess I am to much used to selection and eraser tools. I don't know if you should take the time to explain further as one question might lead to another and take up too much of your time.
