Hey all, I noticed that the current versions of SSF (I'm currently using Preview Ver R7 from EmuCR) finally allow you to read image files directly. I'd really love to use this as my default Saturn emulator since it's still better than any of the cores RA can run, but there's a problem. The way it reads the image files is really weird. You have to go to the options menu and set the path of the disc image from there. It also doesn't seem to use any of the standard command line syntax to mount an image. I tried googling this and translated all of the readme files that come with the emulator but there doesn't seem to be any documentation on how to get SSF to play nice with command line. Specifically, putting ANYTHING after "ssf.exe" seems to make it not want to start properly. Can anyone offer any advice on how to get it to work with LaunchBox?

ANOTHER UPDATE! I went ahead and made a Japanese set of banners. Like the European one, this is a set of substitutes to use in place of the US versions. You'll still need the main one for the master list, though. But wait! There's more! I also added 12 new platforms (and gave one an alternate banner). This brings the total number of banners to 286. But wait! There's more! I also updated the European banners to include the new platforms and I added the updated Game Gear US banner like I forgot to do the first time. D'oh! As of now I'm not sure what else I could add so I'll be putting the project on the back burner. But please, if you've got any suggestions, just message me. I hope this won't be my last update. NEW PLATFORMS: Memorex - Video Information System VideoBrain - VideoBrain Family Computer VTech - V.Smile Baby GPH - GP2X GPH - GP2X Wiz GPH - Caanoo Bandai - RX-78 Gundam pong machines dedicated consoles dedicated handhelds virtual reality Sinclair - ZX80 Panasonic - JR200U Japanese Versions: Apple - Pippin Atari - 2800 Bandai - Arcadia Bandai - Intellivision Bandai - Kousokusen (Vectrex) Dedicated Consoles Dedicated Handhelds Microsoft - MSX Microsoft - Xbox NEC - PC Engine NEC - PC Engine CD-ROM^2 National - Personal Computer JR (AKA JR series) Nintendo - Famicom Nintendo - Super Famicom Nintendo - Super Game Boy Pong Machines Sega - Game Gear Sega - Mark III Sega - Mega CD Sega - Mega Drive Sega - Pico Sega - Saturn Sega - Super 32X CD Sega - Super 32X SNK - Neo-Geo CD Tomy - Pyuuta

So I'm new to creating content like this and figuring out how to use the upload system. Not sure if this is the right way to announce it but I've made an update to the banners! A I'm still continuing to work on them. I'll be adding more platforms as I go of course but the next step is the Japanese versions. I don't know if anyone wants that but what the heck, why not. Please send comments and requests! What's new: Changes: Changed the Game Gear's logo to match the early US/C version. The logo on the unit itself is the same in all 3 territories but I want to give each region its own banner. New Platforms: Arcade - Cinematronics Arcade - Eighting/Raizing Arcade - Jaleco Arcade - Nichibutsu Arcade - Psikyo Arcade - SNK (that's right, playlist to include pre-Neo Geo games) Arcade - Tecmo Arcade - Universal Adobe - Flash Gakken - Compact Vision TV Boy Nichibutsu - My Vision Pioneer - LaserActive (3 versions; 1 for plain/universal LV, 1 for Mega LD and 1 for LDROM^2, for options in organizing) Steam VTech - Laser 200 Zeebo This brings the total number of platforms to 270! Started a project a while ago to create a complete set of stylistically coherent banners. And when I say complete i mean complete. I used the LB platform list as a starting point and branched out from there, covering every platform I could think of, and made a few up for my own use. I went with a "nebula" style background since it seems like that's what kids are into these days and searched for high quality assets. Obviously this means the starting point was Evan Amos's photos and THK's logos, but I used many other sources as well and quite a few of the logos were just not available in decent quality online so I actually made a bunch of both company and platform logos by hand. This collection is US centric so American names and images are given priority above international counterparts. I'm already working on a set of Euro-centric banners though, so don't feel left out. After that I might begin working on a Japanese-centric set if I feel up to it. We shall see. Comments and advice are more than welcome. If you notice any glaring mistakes or omissions, please don't hesitate to point them out. These are actually pretty easy to edit and replace. Suggestions on changes needed for the European set are also quite welcome. Anything outside of the obvious (Mega Drive, blue swirl for Dreamcast, different SNES, different Vectrex logo, different 7800 controllers, etc.) is something that I'm likely to miss. I'm aware that not every one of these platforms is emulated yet but I'm less concerned with that and more concerned with getting as many platforms included as possible. Please enjoy! Anyone know how to emulate Atari Jaguar CD?
OKTrashPanda replied to angelobodetti's topic in Emulation
I see no way within the program's menus to play Jag CD games. Am I missing something? I tried the website and forums but since they're all in Russian I didn't get very far even with translation turned on. -

Some screenshots are bad representations of what the game was intended to look like though. A lot of CPS2 games look stretched to hell in screenshots because the machine has a very wide resolution that's squished back into a 4:3 shape. So in MAME and on real hardware, the image is 4:3 but the screenshot is closer to 16:9. There's another game that came up for moderation recently whose resolution was even more jacked up than that to the point where the text was unreadable. The image was basically a thin pillar. Maybe hard and fast rules about what is "correct" aren't going to work every time and we should be open to flexibility? -
For some reason, the DB has no platform entry for the MB Microvision. I know it's not exactly the hottest system of all time, but its absence is a head scratcher. The DB says "let us know" and links right to this board.

Is there an issue with the guidelines doc not coming back up? It's been a while now. -
I appreciate you taking the time to help but unfortunately this driver doesn't fix the problem. On a lark I tried plugging it into my laptop just to see if anything changed but it gave the exact same results. Perhaps the thing is DOA? That would be weird since the device properties claim it's working properly and connected AND the analog button lights up.
-
So... Please don't judge me. I got one of those cheap as heck blue triangle Playstation/PS2 to USB adapters. Surprise surprise, it's not working for me. But it's not just straight up not working, it's showing some signs of life. Windows 10 64 bit detects the device properly. Plugging in a Dualshock 2 that I confirmed is working doesn't make any chime, but pressing the analog button makes the LED light up. The problem is that it's not recognizing any inputs. None. I tried a different USB port. I tried restarting. I tried using a 3rd party driver for Windows 10 (which apparently only adds rumble and nothing else). Still nothing. Supposedly this thing is a simple HID controller that doesn't need drivers so no, I can't check for a new one. Without saying "get a better adapter" does anyone have any advice? I'm fairly determined to make this work somehow.
-
I don't see a way to do that, but you can assign two sets of controls per controller if that helps. I have my C buttons set to the right stick but also to a set of buttons.
-
I never load the dashboard. I don't think I have it, in fact. Let me see if I can launch it. This might take me a while...
-
It's worth seeing how many of those work. Panzer Dragoon Orta and Jet Set Radio Future are working well for me. I also don't think it can run games from the discs themselves but I don't have one handy to test that out.

Should there be a separate category in the database for ROM Hacks?
OKTrashPanda replied to ThePowerPlayer's topic in Features
Zerodoujin: The solution is to add bootlegs to the DB. There isn't a guideline saying "no bootlegs", just that the game in question has to exist for the specified platform. If it's supported by MAME it can go in the arcade section with ease. If it's Neo-Geo specific, put it there as well. ThePowerPlayer: Why do you want a separate category for hacks that play on the same platform? I'm not sure I understand your position. The hacks that are lacking info would probably still lack info in a separate category. If what you want is to separate your hacks from original ROMs you can already do that with a custom platform but I feel like that's not what you're after. -
I wish there really was an Ulak Tartysh arcade game.
-
Have you tried adding "arcade marquee" to box front priorities? That's what I do and it works well. I have it at the highest priority since only arcade games should have those so it doesn't hurt anything.

Start Demul, make sure no disc images are loaded (hit eject if one is) then go to the file menu and select Run Dreamcast. This should bring you to the DC's main system menu. Select the VMU icon that says "file". If you see VMUs with Xs over them, select that one and choose the option "Delete all (memory reset)". This should format it. If it still has an X over it, from Demul's menu select Config -> Maple Device Manager, select the controller port the VMU is plugged into, and click the drop down menu on that VMU's slot. Make sure it's set to "VMU" or "VMS" (VMU has the screen and controls on it, VMS is a plain memory card). Next, hit the "Edit" button next to the device in the Maple Device Manager and click "Select VMS". You should see a list of .bin files there. Select any one that you want. If a valid one was already selected, try reformatting it from the VMS editor or creating a new one. From there, go back to the Dreamcast's main menu and try browing the VMU. If you need to reformat it again from there it should work and you should have an icon on the VMS's screen.

OMG it's better in every way! Trying to transfer my pokemon snap save over. Once I have that done I'm deleting P64.
-
I'm sure people have some feelings about Project64 but I got it working with GlideN64 and it mostly runs alright. How would this setup compare to Mupen64plus and Parallel?
-
My scache is currently 117 MB. I have DS ROMs that are bigger than that.
-
It doesn't require much LaunchBox setup. Tweaking settings won't take you long either since there just aren't a whole lot. Getting LB to find the XBEs might take a while depending on how many you have but it's a lot like dealing with Cemu and RPCS3.
