    Also, we have two more servers to migrate: the forums web server, and the main www/application downloads web server. We'll be migrating both to new servers within a week or so.

    Hey Jason, will you still be using Invision Community?

    v12.7.1 - When I use the "Games Missing Media", allow it to check the metadata, then trying to update what it finds, say box fronts or 3d boxes for the 400+ games, it just hangs on "Initializing process" for me. Cancel isn't working right either. I can close LB and try again, does same thing. Anyone else?

    I posted about this a week or so back concerning the "Update Metadata and Media Wizard". I have spent many hours this past week trying to figure it out and still haven't found a solution. I have learned more about the problem and thought maybe if I shared more info, especially the video, someone might be able to help figure it out.

    This time all the testing done was using v12.7.3, v12.6, v12.5 (12.7.3 was used in video) with on a external SSD with Launchbox and ALL paths using default folders. So I have eliminated the NAS side of it

    PC Specs:
    Intel 8086k
    32GB Ram
    Nvidea 1080ti FTW
    Launchbox installed on 256gb External SSD with nothing but it and media.
    No major changes in system in past month or so and all drivers are current.
    Win 10 with current updates

    I ran into this with beta 12.7.1. (all my media is stored on mapped NAS drives). I hadn't tried using the option for finding "Update Metadata and Media Wizard" feature in a while, and when it failed (just hung on "Initializing"), I went back and tried installing 12.5 and 12.6 over it and got the same results.

    I found a copy of my LB folder (v12.3) I made as a backup when I was doing something and I tried it and it works just fine (even using paths to media on NAS drive).

    Here is what I am finding with v12.5, v12.6 and all the 12.7 betas. If I select 304 or less games, it appears to works as expected, If I select 310 games or ALL games via <CTRL> + <A>, it just gets stuck on "Initializing". I have even let it sit all night.

    I also noticed that if I let it Refresh images, I will come up with a number (notice "Games missing Boxes" in the video finding 481), then after selecting 300 games and running "Update Metadata and Media Wizard", the number will drop to 465. I can close LB, go right back into it, let it refresh again and it will show 481 again. Something isn't updating, downloading or refreshing correctly.

    I included logs and the video below (log 1. showing it working with 300 games and log 2. showing it hung on Initializing when I selected 310 games).

    1.Debug 2022-01-19 09-27-20 AM.log

    2.Debug 2022-01-19 09-34-09 AM.log

    I've tried deleting LB Cache, the ListCache.xml file, using Data folder from the working v12.3 copy and all kinds of other things.

    Any ideas or help is much appreciated

    Try this

    I downloaded the plugin and gave it a try, not sure if it will work on scanning for new games though. It's still says it's searching. I think this is more for importing a new collection. Keeping my toes crossed though. Thank you for replying.

  4. Is anyone having issues browsing and downloading from the site. I let an test version of LB update and took close to an hour (usually less than a minute), let the metadata base update and took like 10 minutes. Browsing is even slow.

    I checked my speeds and they are fine on my end. Even rebooted routers.

  5. Maybe more of a question, but something I just noticed. If I add a Windows game manually, it will have the "Installed" checkbox checked. But it will not show the Badge for it after selecting OKAY unless I go right back in to edit the game, uncheck, then recheck the "Installed" checkbox. I wouldn't think it should do that, would it? Shouldn't it display the badge without all the extra steps?

  6. Something else I have found, but not sure if it related to this beta or LB in general. I have my media stored on a mapped NAS drive. I cn run cleanup on a single platform, i.e. Arcade, it finds 5000+ duplicates. (through a bunch more in there for testing to see how well it does). When I select ALL and try to "Move checked files to folder", it moves nothing. The delete works, but not the move

    Just tested and it worked fine. What are the exact steps you took?

    Select Games Missing Data

    Allow it to refresh

    Select Tools > Download > Update metadata and media

    Choose only the options to download boxes and 3d boxes as far as what to download. Tried with and without emumovies

    I got it to work by selecting 4-5 games, but if I select the 400+ it keeps initializing, the first time I let it go for over an hour

  8. v12.7.1 - When I use the "Games Missing Media", allow it to check the metadata, then trying to update what it finds, say box fronts or 3d boxes for the 400+ games, it just hangs on "Initializing process" for me. do you or others have tried a raspberry pi 4 NAS solution for this?

    Yes, if you read my post above, I was using a Pi, I think it was a Pi4 though, not a Pi3 with Open Media Vault. I only moved it to a PC about 6 months back. When I moved it to a PC, I just installed OMV to a external SSD and moved all my external drives to it.

  10. Platform & Platform Category Images Set (cleaned and adjusted)

    View File

    Couple hundred .png images in this set. I believe it includes all the Platforms & Platform Categories (see list below). I think most of them are from @viking's collection, but there are others I had found or created as well. Like Nintendo GameCube has both the purple one and a black one.

    The screenshot shows this collection on the top and originals on the bottom.

    I done some re-sizing (most are between the 400-600 pixel range), some cleanup and some color adjustments on them trying to make them look more realistic and vivid in color. Brighter whites, darker blacks, etc.. Not a huge difference, but a little better.

    All excess transparency has been cropped off making the image size more accurate to what you see when using them. All the work was done in Photoshop (2022)

    These can be used in your regular rig as well, but you will have to copy them to the appropriate folder one at a time. (I made these more to drop into a theme you might be working on without all the individual platform folders)

    I had done these for the themes I work on and just thought I would share 'em.

    -Enjoy

    I've noticed that the wall view in my theme seems to be running a bit less smoothly since 12.5, I think?  It seems to be something about the background transitions causing the app to stall a bit on selection.

    I'm using the code from the included documentation pdf for that part of the theme, with background transitions set to fade. (and videos to quick fade)

    I so much agree with this. All the themes I have created with CTC run less smooth, even the sounds crackle when changing screens. Even with all BB Transition feature turned off. I went back to 12.4, then 12.5 and they run fine, but if I try an update, all the poor transitions and crackles re-appear.

    Only way to accomplish this is to edit your platform and make both of them point to the same video folder. You will run into a lot of false positives in the Cleanup Media tool if you ran it against either specific platform doing this though.

    Yes Sir, I had tried that one in the past sorta and it wasn't a good solution. Oh well, the answer is Always NO if ya don't ask, right?

  13. Not sure if it is of any help, but I run most everything from a NAS. I have a old Dell PC (started with a RPi3 I think), installed OMV5 (it's free) on it. I have a 14TB external HDD attached to it for roms and a 2TB external HDD attached for the media. (I have other drives attached for other things as well, like a MediaSonic Pro Raid that hosts all my video, music and such, another 12TB in raid 5) and I use the internal drives I have installed in the PC for backups.

    I have LB/BB and all my emulators installed a primary desktop PC, then I use Syncthings to send it to all the other devices (I exclude some of the setting files in BB (especially the cache files) and emulator config files. That way no one writes over others game saves and settings. Works great for me. If I want to update LB/BB or an emulator, I just make a copy of the folder before I update it so I can go back if something goes wrong. What's cool about it, when I update LB or an emulator on the main PC, it updates it on all the PCs.

    I don't use anything wifi on the gaming side and the speeds are as always like any other external drive. Just some other ideas that may be helpful.

    If you remove the video from one of the platforms then that platform will not show the video for the game. LB’s code will not share a single video for the same game in multiple platforms.

    Thx for the reply. Since you can can manually point any game to any video, I was hoping maybe someone had wrote an app or script to do it in bulk...

  15. I am looking for something that could cut down on multiple copies of videos for the same game, but yet on different platforms. Like Red Dead Redemption is on Xbox 360 as well as PS3. I have 2 copies of the same video, one in the 360 video folder and one in the PS3 video folder. Are there any 3rd party apps that can cut down on these?

    I have tried @starplayer app, it scrapes your local videos but it really isn't doing what I need. Looking for a way to assign multiple games to a single video, if that makes sense?

    have you find a solution?

    It's been a while and changes are always happening with the various apps trying to control the controllers. Currently, I am using DS4 Windows. I do not have it running at PC boot. I do start it when launching BB. Then I created a couple batch files to "end" or "start" DS4, depending on the platform. For example, I don't want DS4 to run with PS3 games I run in RPCS3, so in the emulator settings for RPCS3, I have this in the running script section:

    Run, "D:\Gaming\DS4W Off.bat"

    $Esc::
    {
    WinClose, ahk_exe rpcs3.exe
    Run, "D:\Gaming\DS4Windows"
    }

    $Esc::
    {
        WinClose, ahk_exe {{{StartupEXE}}}
    }

    You can also do exclusions with DS4 to do the same type of things now

    You could do something similar to this

  17. Game On (Redux)

    View File

    MAJOR OVERHAUL (requires BigBox v13.0 or higher)

    User friendly with "easy to see" custom genre & play mode icons. Designed for Large Screens & 4K in mind. Did some remodeling with the Animated backgrounds and hoouse interiors.

    The gamers in the background are actually moving, looking like they are playing games. I tried to use some video effects to make it look like the ambient room light is changing, kinda like a TV does in real life. I carried over some of my genre icon artwork I made for Fading Elegance v1+.

    I used a updated male voice for platform names with some reverb, they sound pretty decent.

    This theme looks great on a big screen TV!

    The screenshots can't show how it functions, so check out the video.

    Has 4 Platform views, 2 male gamer on left, 2 female player on left. 4 Game views (same), 4 wall views and Full Cover Flow view. Slide In-n-Out navigation buttons

    WATCH Sample Video of Game On! (Redux) on Rumble:

    Installation:
    Download, unzip, copy the folder " Game On (Redux)" into your Launchbox "Themes" folder

    Instructions to use Split Screen, PvP, LAN and Online Play Icon features: (not required)
    To get these to work in the theme is really pretty easy.

    Create the 4 Custom Fields below in Launchbox, just edit any single game in your collection and pick Custom Fields on the left panel. Copy-n-paste one of the 4 custom fields below and press <ENTER>. Then enter Yes in the value section press <ENTER>. Copy-n-paste the other 3 Custom Fields and do the same. Then press OK

    1198467803_CustomFields.thumb.jpg.2ba85a693b600721b583c2e6516dfd28.jpg

    Now the fields should be ready and Yes is now a choice in Bulk Edit. Close Launchbox and re-open just to be safe. Then you can go back to the game you used to set up the custom fields and delete the Yes's if you need to. You can leave the field blank for NO so no need to worry any of them but the ones that apply, they will need to be YES.

    What I did, was to sort my collection different ways like genre or playmode. I had a genre set up for MMO, so I bulk edited all the games in that category, first I chose Play Mode, making sure they all had multiplayer added as a value. Then I said yes to make more changes, and then chose the newly created Custom Field: Online Play and just select Yes in the dropdown to add value. The theme will now display the animated globe for all those games in the views that use it.

    Do that for the other 5 Custom fields using similar sorts. Of course any game can be edited manually as well.

    The custom fields you can add:
    LAN
    Online
    Split Screen
    PvP

    *Controller Mapping:
    The only thing that needs changed is Button 3 (that's the "X" button on Xbox controller or square button on DS4 controller). It is set to "Play" by default, so if you use this, you will need to assign a different button to it. Now assign Button 3 to "Filter". That's it.

    If you get a blank area in the one of the Genre images (like where the Yellow arrow is pointing in the screenshot below), it just means that game is using a genre that I did not create a icon for.

    If you have Photoshop,  you can use the simple template I included in the ..\LaunchBox\Themes\Game On v1\Media\Genres folder to create anything you need. Just open the template, drop a image in the template (re-size to taste), change the text and save. If you don't have PS, let me know and I can try to get ya fixed up.

    View File

    This is Christmas holiday theme. It's more of a novelty theme I suppose, since it won't be used all the time. I haven't seen one and my grandson asked me to make one for him.

    It starts up as to be looking out a window on a cold, windy and snowy day when Santa appears and has a bad day with the weather and his reindeer.

    It contains a little bit of video vintage footage of the "Lost Toys" from Rudolph and Frosty as well in some of the TVs used in the different views

    Video:

    If you want a little holiday spirit in your gaming setup at this time of year, check it out.

    Since it is seasonal, I only did a couple different views. If there is enough interest, I may add more views to it.

    Thanks to @y2guru for making it so easy and sharing CTC. If you haven't tried it, you should, I through this together yesterday. (can't wait for 2.3)

    Seasons Greetings!

    After doing some tests, I was not able to recreate what you are seeing here. I recreated your scenario, but am seeing it pick Yuzu when I try to add a manual game while on the Nintendo Switch platform.

    I had to delete Ryujinx from within LB on the emulation selection screen, then it add it Yuzu. I will have to wait until I go to add another rom. Thanks you Sir and have a great day tomorrow!

  20. Yes, select the Add button (bottom right corner of LB).

    Every time I add a switch rom this way, even though Yuzu is my default emulator, if I don't physically chenge the emulator, it always defaults to Ryujinx as the emulator. Maybe I should just delete Ryujinx from LB and add it back, maybe that will fix it???

    While nothing has changed with this tool in a while, there is some configuration steps involved to make it work.

    If you edit a platform, and go to the Folders tab, you'll need to make sure to point the Game folder to the path where you ROMs exist.

    image.thumb.png.73b1576e7075d072e2e90fb236030909.png

    Yes Sir, already done that. I am using folders that are not default though. Also added info about default emulators not working as expected

  22. I posted in the last beta thread a couple days ago, but no replies.

    Using 12.4. When I try to scan for new roms in any platform it does pretty much nothing. Has something changed that I need to edit or is it broken?

    Also noticed that even though I have Yuzu set as default switch emulator, every time I add a game manually, it always defaults to Ryujinx instead??

    Attached log file

    Debug 2021-11-24 09-40-55 AM.log

  23. Just updated to Official LB v12.4 just before adding a game. When I try to scan for added roms for Nintendo Switch, it does nothing. Tried in a couple the Atari platform and does nothing either. No dialog or anything.
