This is correct. None of that has been tackled yet, so if you are seeing something that is worse, it wouldn't have come from this update. At this point, we recommend that you do not randomize your Screen Transitions, but use one that won't cause you issues. We still need to determine how we want to tackle this one internally, and it may not come with this next update.

Okie Dokie, thanks for the reply. Wasn't sure if they were related or not. My bad.

@Rlad @skizzosjt Can you let me know if you're stilling seeing issues with videos not playing when backing into a Platform or Game view?

I am still seeing black screens if Screen Transition is being used in BB settings, if that helps any. Actually might be worse now. Especially the more hungry ones. Was taking 6-8 minutes before I seen it happen, but now might happen within 3 or 4 changes??:/

My hunch is that it's the Screen Transition. Enable all your transitions, but keep Screen Transition to something like fade and let me know if you still see it.

Hey Brian, you were correct. I tested but left Screen Transition to "none". Sick of trying to record the video over and over! :P

It would usually take 6-8 minutes into recording (browsing thru BB) before it would happen if that helps ya'll duplicate it. Thank ya Sir for the reply

  4. @y2guru @faeran or anyone else that may know

    UPDATE:
I want to add that it has something to do with the transitions in BB. After disabling them ALL, it no longer goes to a black screen.

I seem to remember seeing something about similar issues some time back but I am having issues with BB going to a black screen after scrolling though BB after a few minutes. It's random, happens sometimes in platform view, sometime in a game view or even setting view? Once it happens, that view stays black until exit and restart of BB.

I'm trying to make a video of a CTC theme update using OBS. But it happens without OBS running as well.

Anyone know anything about this? I have the same issue with 12.4 but seems to go away with 12.3 (but since the theme was created in CTC, some features aren't working).

Here is a sample video, when I try to enter the platform, I get black screen, when I press enter, it works as expected, when I go back, it goes back to black screen. In this example, when I go back again, to settings, it is also black screen.

I un-plugged all additional monitors to eliminate that as well. Also tried both VLC and WMP in BB

It is also happening with BB default theme. See 2nd log file

    Any ideas anyone?

Auto-Populate Playlists can be built based on support level. You select Controller Support as the Field and then in the comparison column (middle) you can pick the support level you want there, then in the third column the name of the controller (or controller group) you wish to check that support level of.

Awesome my friend, thank you for replying and I will give that a try!

  6. Hey All:

I've created a badge similar to Steam's badge for Partial Controller support. I have tried different ways to get it work in LB, including trying to use @jayjay's app to create a custom badge with no success. Does anyone know how I can make this happen in LB (preferably without using custom fields)?

I am using these settings in LB:

    Untitled.thumb.jpg.fd803b84cda30bb14a6956adcd72f32a.jpg

Image I am trying to use (image is white transparency)

    PartialGamepadSupport.png.2ad2e4cd5b918fdda591bdb78dfa553a.png

    named it PartialGamepadSupport.png

Since I haven't been able to get it to work, not sure if I did well with the image itself yet o.O

Or is this something that LB folks will have to incorporate into LB for it to work since this field is already used within LB?

  7. Not seen this since the server move (SO much better BTW), but I was trying to upload a couple new screenshots to a existing theme.

They were in png format (3840x2160, about 5-6mb), I tried 3 times with no success. Converted them to jpg and they uploaded. Just thought I would let ya'll know.

  8. I noticed something that may not be working. I had created a playlist called Recently Added. In the past BB would play videos from games in that playlist. It doesn't seem to be doing that now with the latest beta release.

What's funny, is another playlist I created called Recently Played, the videos work...

I figured it out. It's the good ole VLC vs WMP issue iin BB.

VLC isn't playing webm files from steam. Themes created in CTC have playback issues using VLC. Sure wish someone could find a resolution to this...:(xD

Just curious Jason, If I already had been using the Bezel Project previous to the LB addition, will this affect my cfg files the Bezel Project has already created or ones I may have edited?

As far as I can see Ctrl + f makes  flashplayer_32_sa.exe go fullscreen. In LaunchBox go to the flashplayer_32_sa emulator setup and in the "Running Script" paste:

    WinWait, ahk_exe {{{StartupEXE}}}
    Sleep 500
    SendInput ^f

    $Esc::
    {
    WinClose, ahk_exe {{{StartupEXE}}}
    }

This makes flashplayer_32_sa go fullscreen after launching a rom and exits it with Esc Depending on your PC you may have to alter Sleep 500 to Sleep 1000.

That's exactly what I was needing, thank you @Your Friendly A.I Overlord

  11. The wife asked me to add a few flash games. I have the swf's and am able to run them in the flashplayer_32_sa.exe from adobe.

If I set up flashplayer_32_sa.exe (as an emulator) and use the swf files for the roms, am I able to do something in LB using a AHK to do a <CTRL>+F4 when or after it launches the swf?  The <CTRL>+F4 is just making the flash player go full screen after a game is launched in it.

    I meant <CTRL>+f O.o

    Sure.

Right now the only intentional handling is to do things the way Flashpoint does natively, so there is no force full screen switch or anything like that. I didn't consider it much given the games in FP tend to me more desktop oriented, and less "couch gaming" (not to say you can't do it anyway).

I'll keep in mind trying to implement such a thing, but it would likely be challenging given how there are numerous different sub-programs that Flashpoint uses behind the scenes, some of which keep getting changed, that all may or may not support fullscreen or at the very least require different methods to make them go fullscreen.

There is a more universal approach I can attempt, but that comes with its own challenges.

For now at least, your best bet would be to try to use an AHK script or the like, as you mentioned.

NP, great app BTW, thank you for sharing it.

  13. Games do not launch full screen from BB, that is what I am trying to accomplish, weather by a switch, such as -f or -fullscreen (which I have tried both and neither work).

I want to do this automatically when a game launches, not using the keyboard, maybe with an AHK script or something if there are no switches

    Thanks for replying :)

  14. Simple Touch & Simple Desktop

    View File

I wanted to change the theme to a more Retro look in Version 4. See changelog and last 4-5 screenshots. I will be updating Simple Touch to match Simple Desktop and will leave the v3 online, but to much to keep up with the dark versions.

    • Simple Desktop v4 - Uploaded
    • Simple Touch v4 - Uploaded (last 2 screenshots)
    • Simple Desktop v3 (light) - FINAL
    • Simple Desktop v3 (dark) - FINAL (screenshots close to end)

    Some of the features:

    • smaller in size
    • device bezels for game videos (200+ platforms) - (special thanks @Duimon for many of them). Also extra ones in a folder named "unused" and a psd template
    • added Partial Gamepad badge support like Steam does (add a custom field in LB named "Partial Gamepad Support" with a value of "Yes")
    • displays nice little message when no game notes are present (see screenshot 5)
    • displays colorful "No Video image" when no game video is present in the bezel
    • ability to choose scratches & smudges on game videos (delete "Scratches.png" file in ..\Themes\Simple Desktop v3 (light)\Media\Overlays)
    • font changes for better visibility
    • colorful 3 second popup for games marked as Completed, Broken or Not Installed in Horizonal & Wall views (see screenshot 7,8,9)

*updating videos and screenshots I update them

5 versions to choose from. "Simple Touch" (light or dark), "Simple Desktop" (light or dark), and a "Simple Touch Vertical".

Simple Touch Vertical (vertical version) This one is more of a test version. It's made using 3:4 aspect ratio per request. I had to re-size some things and move a few things around a bit, but pretty much the same. I have nothing to test it with, so not sure how well it will look or work on a actual vertical screen. If you give this one a try, feedback would be awesome (especially some screenshots or a video).

Clean, with a modern look. Works well with all the screen sizes I have been able to test, including large screens and 4K TVs. Responsive and simple, thus "Simple Touch".

    Audio announces 200+ Platforms now.

    * (you can disable the audio by renaming or deleting the Audio folder within the ..\theme name\Media\Audio folder. If you want to remove the family logo image in the settings page, you can do the same thing with it, located in the ..\theme name\Media\Images folder)

I needed this for a A-I-O Touch Screen PC I will be installing in a false wall soon. I'll be doing a home remodeling project soon and thought a touch screen jukebox in the wall would be a cool look. I found a great deal on a Lenovo 700 22ish touchscreen on ebay and have been setting it all up before I start the remodel. I wanted to create a BB theme with a similar look to the Jukebox (media center) software I put on the PC.

(Most of the Platform videos in the videos in v3 and previous were the Bigbox Cinematic videos, in v4 they showcase the Colorful videos with a few I made)

    VIDEO: Simple Desktop v4 (11-04-22)

VIDEO: Simple Desktop v3 Light (10-07-22) - Sorry it's so long, I was trying to show all the bezels I used to show the game videos for all the platforms.

VIDEO: Simple Desktop v3 Dark (10-13-22)

Here is the dll file for adding the "Touch Badge" in Launchbox. Drop it into your ..\Launchbox\Plugins folder. (not required, just shows the Touch Badge in Launchbox)

    Badge Touch.dll

    Startup Videos: (10 seconds)
    NEW - Simple Desktop (available in 1080 & 4K)

    NEW - Simple Touch (available in 1080 & 4K)

    COMIN SOON

As always, special thanks goes out to:

@JoeViking245 for helping me with the touch issues

@y2guru for sharing CTC with us, thank you

@faeran for allowing me to use a bit of his code

Don't forget to leave feedback, post comments, questions or suggestions. Will do the best I can to get back.

    - Enjoy!

  15. I may have ran into a issue with 12.12.3. I was replacing some images in ..\Launchbox\Images\Playlists\name of playlist\Device (and Clearlogos).

When I run Bigbox, I go into the settings and refresh the cached images, it isn't working if I leave the old re-named images in the folder. I have to delete everything in the folder but the image I want, then do the re-fresh. Maybe someone can try it on their end?

After you enter a Platform to view its games, how do you go Back to viewing the Platforms via the touchscreen?  If you go Back from within the Platforms view, that should put you in the Option menu which includes Exit and also Shutdown.

I can't, that's the issue, no <ESC>, that's why I was asking how I might incorporate it in a theme. @Johnny T made a suggestion about a gesture software that might work, but not had a chance to install and look into it yet.

  17. I got a project going on and not sure if I should ask here or in the general threads. (I asked in CTC thread and Dave said it was more of a control issue)

I am doing a home remodel project. I got the brainy idea to build a retro (digital) touch screen jukebox in a false wall I will be building. I started out with a Raspberry Pi, but I wound up getting a really nice 22" All In One PC. Then I got even brainier and thought it might be cool to add some slot machines that work with touch screens. I found a few of the old IGT games (old Windows) that work well.

And of course I installed LB/BB on it to run the slot games and thought I needed to create a cool theme for BB to kinda match everything else. It looks and runs great. Got BB working well with the touch screen and all (enabled mouse in the BB config)

Here is my problem and I'm really hope ANYONE, can tell me how I might be able to do it:

I have NO way to exit BB without plugging in a keyboard to hit <ESC>

Is there any way I can add something to the theme I created in CTC, that when touched (would be like a mouse click), would exit BB. I thought about maybe adding something like a fake game that runs a AHK or bat file or something, but don't know how I could do it without it being on the wheels.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

This is not a CTC feature, this is just a general user setting in Big Box using the transitionpresenter. There are a number of transitionPresenter elements that can be used in a Big Box theme, and when used, a user has the ability to change what kind of transition will be shown for that element. The CTC can only use 1 of these transition elements by default (the video element). Others would have to be added via source code, and even others (like the game details view element), need to come with a separate xaml file you'll have to code yourself and include with the CTC files.

I was thinking I would have to use a user source code in CTC somehow to accomplish it. That is what I thought you did., I just don't know the code.

I kinda borrowed some of what you did in Retrofresh to accomplish it, if that's okay?
