Kriven
The only thing I can think of that would actually look nice would be to give users the ability to toggle between "Favorites" "Recently Added" or "Recently Played", and put that five-game selection beneath a large image of the console itself... Jason Carr
Nice, bd. That's an improvement for sure. Rather than a description of the console, I'm thinking maybe we show some details like the number of games, etc.
bd00
Sorry to just drop an image in my last post, I was in a hurry. Nice idea. Something like this:
Jason Carr
Exactly. That's perfect. :) I'm also trying to get clear platform logos to work as well, instead of an image of the device. However, that's a challenge because of the various spacing of the logos.
bd00
Console logo only?

Jason Carr
I started taking that route, because I'm not sure if we'll be able to find good images for all platforms, similar to the Wii image above. Definitely could use some help brainstorming what to do there. Like the clear logos? Hate them? Should we use a device image? Etc.
bd00
The biggest problem with the logos is the variety of sizes. Maybe we could create some sort image that incorporates the device and the logo. I actually started doing this a while back when I was using a different instance of LB for each platform. Some Examples: Spoiler This way you can keep the size uniform. You could start a topic where people could upload/share/request images. Nintendo Image thread, Sega, Atari, etc. etc.
Jason Carr
Holy crap! Nice, yeah, that's what we need. It'll be difficult to get those images going for every platform, but that's a great start.
Jason Carr
Anyone want to take the lead on that thread and start compiling images? In the mean time I'll see how bd's images with that aspect ratio look in the app. :)
bd00
I have more. I will create any that you need, they don't take long. I will be working again on Wednesday, so I won't have as much time to spare, but I will fit it in somewhere.
Jason Carr
Yeah, no question, they look great in the app. The aspect ratio is perfect too. Though I might want to re-think the background images.
Jason Carr
Thank you bd, that's amazing. Didn't see your last comment earlier. Yeah, if you can give me whatever you have, I'll put them as the default images in the app. I'd like to at least include images for all/most of the platforms on TGDB, but obviously TGDB is not the standard for platforms that matter. bd00
Yeah I agree, the background image doesn't sit right. Regarding the thread, it might be a good idea to start a whole new topic for images. Not just for this, but other images too. Custom boxes, custom steam banners, developer/publisher logos, custom icons, etc. etc. I believe you are planning your own database at some point. If you can get the community to start farming those "trickier" images now, by the time you have it up and running you will have a more complete database to start with. Jason Carr
Great idea, good point. Hopefully I can get that going soon...been trying to put all my effort into this upcoming alpha. Can't wait to see the rest of your images, can you dump them here? :)
Jason Carr
I went ahead and created this thread... https://www.launchbox-app.com/forum/features/new-launchbox-platform-image-collection-thread We can add threads for other types of images later on, but this should get us going for the platforms. :)
bd00
I uploaded to that thread. I was thinking, maybe you could have a random fanart from the platform as the backdrop.
Jason Carr
I had that thought as well, a good idea I think. Will do.
Hippyshake
I have nothing useful to contribute. I just wanted to say it's been quite exciting watching this thread develop.
