scatsy
Hello everyone, I wear a weeks using Launchbox and I can not be happier, easy to configure and very powerful. But I have a little problem with some emulators. It turns out that in all land use additional command lines such as using full screen or a screen rotation. The problem comes in the position where you put the command line. I explain. In the emulator Nestopia for example, command lines going after the name of the ROM. However, Launchbox puts ever before and therefore does not load the ROM. So my question is: Is there any way to change this? either in the emulator or Launchbox Thank you all! Lordmonkus
Right now there is no way to put the command line after the rom. I even have a feature request in for Jason when he gets around to it because this would come in handy for certain emulators like Daphne. If you are using the stand alone version let me recommend using Retroarch for the Nestopia core. Or if you prefer a stand alone solution give puNES a try, it's an amazing emulator, probably the single best NES emulator out there. Get puNES here http://forums.nesdev.com/viewtopic.php?t=6928
scatsy
Thanks lordnokus, I tried using Retroarch, but can not get it to work (i downloaded the cores and all but nothing), I do not understand what I may be doing wrong. I'll try the emulator you mention, many thanks for the help: D
DOS76
Have you watched the tutorial on the LB YouTube page they will get you running RetroArch no problem. I was totally resistant to using RA at 1st and now I couldn't imagine having to use other emulators. I actually dread using some systems because they don't use RA it spoiled me immensely it is so nice to not have to configure controllers any more. If you don't want to use it I understand but it truly is worth getting over your initial shock of like what the hell is this I can't even use the UI because who would be like oh arrow keys for navigation wait why doesn't enter do anything or backspace z and x are such random buttons to choose but once I got past that it was fairly easy. Rincewind
@DOS76 do you still update your RetroArch or did you set it up and leave it. I only ask because I am still running a version from about 6 months ago
DOS76
I do update it although I haven't on all my computers but a few are running the latest version what is good though is new core updates and all still are available to users on older versions I'm running the Mednafen Saturn core on more than one version of 3.4 and I don't see any difference.
scatsy
Hi! i follow the retroarch tutorial and i cant get it to work, i dont know why. I download the cores, active them, and when i go to load a rom, retroarch quits. I would really like to use and works well, however, I am preparing a guide for newbies about Launchbox, in my native language (Spanish) and I'm not too good with English so I try to find the simplest possible solutions. to explain it perfectly. As is the case of using Nestopia it is very easy to set up or use Mednafen emulator with which I have not had any problems. Currently I have many systems running with different emulators that emulate with the Retroarch all. But as I say, I can not make it work in any of my platforms (Windows and OSX) Anyway, my question was another, that of the command line and I guess sooner or later be solved :). Thanks to all for the responses :D.
Lordmonkus
Did you give puNES a try ? I really think you will like it a lot, it really is a quality emulator and probably the only one I would even consider recommending over Retroarch. You can even use some of the Retroarch shaders in it if you wanted.
Jason Carr
Hi all, the next beta should allow you to put the command lines after the ROM name by using the %romfile% variable in the command-line options. Next beta should be out later today.
Lordmonkus
Very nice, even better than the dancing monkeys I was hoping for Does this mean we can mount multiple disk images at the same time ?
Jason Carr
Not as of yet. Hopefully that will be coming. This isn't the big announcement, though, by the way.
DOS76
Oh now your teasing me did you get that text scrolling working nice and smoothly in BigBox.
Jason Carr
Sadly, no. It's being a big pain in the rear, so I moved on to another big feature. I'll stop teasing here very shortly.

Lordmonkus
In Launchbox click Tools > Options > General > Updates and check "Update to Beta Releases" and restart Launchbox.

However, at the moment there is no way to map multiple buttons/axis to one function (i.e. use the d-pad and analog stick) so for the moment I prefer Mednafen. scatsy
Hi! yesterday at night i try puNES, there was only one problem, in my device is a bit laggy (its a chinese tabletPC with Cherry Trail) and one of my purposes is create a guide for gaming in this kind of devices. Anyway, I found it fantastic, especially that emulates a CRT and automatically detects the region of the game, unlike Nestopia (or I I did not know how)
Lordmonkus
It is a more accurate emulator than Nestopia and that accuracy usually comes at the cost of processing power needed to run it. I did find a game earlier though that the Nestopia core in Retroarch and puNES couldn't play though, the game Crisis Force. It does however run in the RA core FCEUMM and may run in Mednafens NES emulator or BizHawks NES core, sadly there is no RA core for Mednafen NES. Pat
Crisis Force does run in Mednafen.
Lordmonkus
Good to know. It really is too bad there is no RA core for it. I saw it's accuracy rating on the TAS chart and its extremely impressive at over 98%.
