MAME Arcade Import Region Issues

I just imported the latest MAME set into Launchbox and set my Default Region to North America. 

Now, most of the games I try to play default to a Hispanic version - which, of course, is still North America - but I'd like all the US versions to be the Primary ones. 

Is there an easy way to update all the ROMs to make the Primary Version to be the US one - or do I change my settings somehow and do another import?

Same here, I tried to import a non merged 201b set using the new import a mame set tool, left everything checked (no casino games, etc) and choose North America as the default region.

It's a great tool and everything went okay, but all of the games I have tried work but default to Hispanic, despite claiming they are USA.

I am running Launchbox 8.7 with a premium license.

I watched a video from ETA Prime using the tool, he did pretty much everything the same but set the default region to "WORLD" Going to give that a shot as a work around.

Another workaround is that one of my options before starting the rom, is to choose another region, so it's really only 2-3 extra button hits to get to USA.

Also noticed that I can select all my mame roms, right click and go to like "properties" or something, then you can change the default region, but it's already on USA.

I also set my region to North America unlike ETA Prime. Also tried the mass Region Field edit and it was already populated with USA. 

Let me know if you try the World Region import and if that fixes it. 

I really don't want to select a specific version everytime I load a game... (making a build for a friend and that's just too much for them, probably)

Crap - My bad/Poor wording on my part.

Just to clarify, in the ETA Prime video, he used WORLD as default, but then it just went to WORLD. (Not USA)

In my case it would be a work around, because  I think it would still be mostly English.

I'm going to go try some other regions by default and see if it flips over to USA.

So world as default will give you mostly Europe by default as expected, but no more Hispanic from what I have tested.

Not sure if this would be an easy fix from a developer side of view, but hopefully down the road in a future update USA can be added as a default from the Mame Import Full Set tool.

Thanks for doing that. Yeah, USA default option sounds like it's key. 

I guess Europe is better in the mean time.

No worries, I think for now I am just going to redo the mame set as North America and then manually update the individual games to actually use the correct rom as I notice it. (right click, edit, change rom etc)

Hey @Jason Carr, this looks to still be an issue, as I've been going thru my MAME games after using the importer and it still defaults to the Hispanic versions instead of USA. Was there a fix along the way I missed for this?

Can anyone provide me an example of this? What games and ROMs? Also, is this with the full-set MAME importer or the standard ROM import?

Full set importer. Street Fighter III: New Generation is one example, it defaults to the Hispanic rom. I'll check around for more, but I've seen it several times.

I've had this happen to me in the past also on a few ROMs I just manually edit it when I notice it but would be better if it didn't do it.

I would love to test this, since this was affecting me as well. When the beta is released how can I get it @Jason Carr ?

In LB under >Tools>Options in the Updates section make sure you have betas selected. The beta has already been released.

@Jason Carr and @TheNewClassics I am happy to report that with 10.11-beta-7 North America region now prioritizes USA ROMS over Hispanic ROMS! All I had to do was re-import my romset.

For the record I tested this with Marvel VS Capcom and with Darkstalkers in my full MAME .0219 split romset.

I know this is an old thread but I'm having the same issue when trying to import a mame romset for use with the libretro mame-2003-plus core (using the generic rom import and not the mame full set import wizard). Many of my capcom fighting games (super street fighter 2 turbo, marvel vs. capcom, x-men vs. street fighter) were not working and while troubleshooting I checked the file they were trying to boot and it was the Hispanic version. I changed to the USA rev 1 version and they all work now.
