boggmeister Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 I have installed version 12.12. When I attempt to add the bezels via the update metadata method, I am not given any bezel option. I am attempting to add bezels to 48 Mame games. I am using a licensed copy of Launchbox along with Bigbox. I have confirmed that I am using version 12.12. Any idea why I do not have the bezels option? Has anybody else experienced this? What other system/setup information can I share? Quote
Namedos Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 I've had the exact same problem. Tried restarting Launchbox multiple times. Haven't restarted my computer yet. Quote
Namedos Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 Restarted computer and still no luck. Tried with MAME and Nintendo 64 multiple times. I never get the option to select bezels. After the emumovies checklist it goes to the final screen to update. Strange. Quote
boggmeister Posted June 21, 2022 Author Posted June 21, 2022 @Namedos I have rebooted by computer and that did not help. We seem to be having the exact same problem, After the emumovies checklist is goes directly yo the final update screen. The bezels option screen never never appears. Quote
Brainz Posted June 22, 2022 Posted June 22, 2022 It's not just you. I have the exact same problem. Also on 12.12 Quote
neil9000 Posted June 22, 2022 Posted June 22, 2022 Are you maybe using custom names for platforms, or not using Retroarch or MAME? Quote
Well-Hard Posted June 22, 2022 Posted June 22, 2022 I upgrade from older version 12.11 to 12.12 and the bezel options not available i done fresh install with the latest 12.12 ..latest rom set and bezel option works Quote
C-Beats Posted June 22, 2022 Posted June 22, 2022 The option only shows in the wizard if any of the games you are updating use an emulator that points to a "retroarch.exe" or a "mame.exe" application path. Check what emulator you are running on the games you are attempting to update and verify the application path points to one or the other. Quote
supes123 Posted June 22, 2022 Posted June 22, 2022 mIne didn't work but it pointed to mame64.exe. Is that the reason? Quote
C-Beats Posted June 22, 2022 Posted June 22, 2022 Yeah. We look specifically for a "mame.exe" so we know that we are running a version of MAME we know this feature to be compatible for. Quote
shadowfire Posted June 22, 2022 Posted June 22, 2022 Came here because I'm having the same issue and yeah, I can confirm my MAME binary is named mame64.exe... A related question (hope it's not too off-topic): I already setup a few games in the past with bezels from within MAME itself (MAME's artwork directory), what will happen when I use LaunchBox's bezels wizzard? Will the old bezels be replaced or will LaunchBox prioritize it's own bezels? I would probably prefer keeping my old bezels for those games... Quote

If you instruct us to gather them during import we won't overwrite any files found. If you gather them using the Download Metadata and Media Wizard we respect the overwrite settings you select on the last page. Telling us to overwrite (top option) will overwrite those files, the other two will not. Quote

Within MAME's artworks directory or somewhere within the LaunchBox/Images directory tree? Quote

HeavyDe13 Posted June 22, 2022 Posted June 22, 2022 @C-Beats thanks for the info very helpful. What's the best approach for those users running MAME64.exe? Quote

Try renaming mame64.exe to mame.exe and then make sure to edit your emulator in LaunchBox and change the application path to point to the ["new"] mame.exe. Quote
boggmeister Posted June 26, 2022 Author Posted June 26, 2022 I renamed my mame64.exe to mame.exe and edited the emulator in LB and changed the application path. I was then able to access the bezels during the media update. Unfortunately, even after the bezels were downloaded they still do not appear on screen while running mame. I set them to use game bezels 1st and default to system files otherwise. I am not even seeing system bezels. Quote
