DAY 2 🏅

Welcome to Day 2 of the Great Game Gauntlet! 👑 With LaunchBox embodying the spirit of collecting, we’re on a quest to discover: What makes a great video game collection?

Today, we're looking at:

Video Game Company Collections!

Continuing yesterday's discussion about video game series getting their own collections, we often see entire companies releasing collections of their historical games. These collections typically celebrate a milestone like an anniversary or the legacy of a specific console. Some offer a nostalgic look at a company’s history, while others go the extra mile by including behind-the-scenes content and documentaries. It’s a fantastic way to learn more about the heritage of these companies and appreciate their journey through the years.

Today’s lineup of games celebrates key players in the gaming industry with collections that highlight their storied pasts.

If you want a chance to win one of these, make sure to cast your vote for the game you’d like to see advance to the next round and answer this question:

Which company do you believe is most deserving of their own game collection, and why?

So, which company would you pick? What historical games from their catalogue do you think should be included? And what bonus content would you love to see that dives deeper into their legacy?

Notes:
- While yesterday’s question focused on game series, don’t worry if you submitted a company collection idea there—you’re welcome to re-use it here!
- Also, don’t worry if someone already picked the company you wanted to highlight. Go ahead and post it again—tell us why you chose it, or expand on the ideas.

To get us started: Here’s my idea in just four words:

Microsoft Entertainment Pack Collection!

If you had a Windows PC in the early ’90s, you’ve definitely played some of these classics. Let’s bundle Entertainment Packs 1-4 into a single collection, add modern controller support, online leaderboards and maybe even throw in some achievements. Imagine playing Chip’s Challenge, SkiFree, JezzBall, Rodent’s Revenge, Minesweeper, Pipe Dream, and more—all in one nostalgic package! A man can dream... 💭

Just like yesterday, I still think it's hard to choose after 44 years of playing games 🤔, although SEGA captured a lot of my attention and my hands on the controllers 😂.

Al igual que ayer, sigo pensando que es complicado elegir tras 44 años jugando a juegos 🤔, aunque SEGA acaparó bastante mi atención y mis manos en los mandos 😂.

I guess to name one not mentioned in the OP Konami.

Although they've been letting their franchises languish in the recent years theres so much in their back catalogue that despite having a few collections out already theres so much more.

Maybe a best of 16bit arcade collection or the beatmania arcade series.

My money's on the CD PROJEKT RED: THREE DECADES OF GAMING collection!

I don't think any devs are more deserving of an anniversary collection than them. The passion they put into their art, music, and storytelling is clear to see among their various hit titles. Release it together with the Witcher 4 and you've got one hell of an anniversary collection, guaranteed to attract the next generation of gamers!

Square Enix would be the company I would love to see as they created some of the most influential RPG's ever. Their catalog is so extensive that even if you remove the Final Fantasy series there would be enough for multiple collections.

Their content is what got me into RPG's and video games as a whole.

Codemasters.

So much diversity over a 38 year history, from spectrum games like Dizzy and BMX Simulator, the NES era of Micro Machines, to this years F124, there are hundreds of games in their back catalogue across many genres.

Off the top of my head, collections I would like to see (in the style of the Atari 50 collection with supplementary stuff like documentaries)

  • Bioware
  • Rockstar
  • Bethesda
  • id Software
  • Rare (with the missing games included)

Atlus has a rather large library to make a decent collection release. Personally I would not mind seeing a Cave collection. Not a huge library. but I enjoy a good button mashing session in bullet hell games.

A collection for id Games doesn't sound far off. They haven't released all that much over the years but their catalogue still spans several decades.

I love the idea of @MrDeKat even though I already have every single one of these. Amanita is just a severely overlooked developer in the public eye!

An Arkane Studios collection in memory of the studio behind games like the Dishonored series, Prey and Deathloop. Microsoft shutting down the studio is just bewildering. I guess I will never see a remaster/remake of Dark Messiah of Might & Magic that I was secretly hoping for.

Naughty Dog would be my choice for the amazing story telling and addictive gameplay of their games

This. Crash Bandicoot. Jak and Daxter. Uncharted. The Last of Us. They've done some good stuff for sure.
