  1. I would say first re-run the setup process to see if you're prompted for admin rights. Sometimes that error happens just because it times out (pops up a request for admin rights and doesn't get a click fast enough).
  2. Messing with dip switches should just result in no scores being submitted for that game. Bans will come if invalid scores are actually submitted. In the case of the dip switches, the scores should just never leave your machine if dip switches are changed.
  3. It's the DirectX install part that needs admin rights. It doesn't matter where you install it. And it has nothing to do with any NAS issues or anything of that sort.
  4. You should be able to safely ignore it, assuming DirectX was already installed. It should be prompting you to log in as an administrator though, or approve administrator rights. If it's not, there's probably some kind of non-standard Windows policy setting in place.
  5. I believe that error happens when administrative rights are refused for the DirectX install (or it times out asking).
  6. Yes, it's reading the cfg files for dip switch settings. You can remove those from the cfg files if you need, or just delete the cfg files. And yes, it shows in the logs. If you can test though, I'd appreciate it.
  7. I see; thanks for doing that testing. Good to know. We'll do some further testing on our end to see if there's anything we can do to fix it. I don't like the fact that it's affecting multiple themes.
  8. In the end I decided not to change those files; we only read them. We simply refuse to upload the high score if we find any dip switches changed.
  9. If you would, please test 10.14-beta-2 to make sure everything is still working properly for you. It should be, but would be good to know if you run into any issues.
  10. Long file name support in DOS would be rather difficult, I can imagine, so unfortunately that probably won't be happening. I haven't seen that delete bug, but I'll take a look.
  11. Yes, dip switches are reset if you delete the cfg file. Unfortunately we don't have any way to display what the default settings are. However, you can always edit the cfg file as well and just remove the dipswitch lines.
  12. Well apparently the decision is fairly unanimous. That's a good thing.
  13. It's definitely coming @richardoswald. We'll be tackling all top 20 items before the next poll.
  14. If you can test a couple of other more popular themes from the themes manager, that would be helpful. Would help to narrow it down to that specific theme.
  15. We're hoping this is fixed in 10.14-beta-2, @drewjbx.
  16. Go to Tools > Options > Legacy > General > Updates and check the box to update to beta releases. Then go to Help > Check for Updates.
  17. Dip switches are changed through the MAME menus, so if you don't go out of your way, you'll never even know they're there. So nothing to worry about.
  18. The MinimalX theme may be the sole cause of this, yeah. If you can test with the Default theme, it would be much appreciated.
  19. For anyone who arrives in this thread, I would also appreciate if you could test 10.14-beta-2 as well. We're planning on putting out the official 10.14 release tomorrow, and I want to make sure that all is working well with it.
  20. No nag versions are definitely usable, yes. That's what I use.
  21. Also, please vote here on whether or not we should reset high scores after the 10.14 release:
  22. With the 10.14 release that is set to go live tomorrow, we've added a number of security measures to help prevent cheating when submitting MAME high scores, including disabling the ability to change dip switches in order to have more lives, etc. Once the new release goes live, versions 10.12 and 10.13 will no longer be able to submit high scores, in order to make sure that no one uses an old version in order to cheat. We have removed a number of high score records that were obviously either errors or involved cheating, but we probably have not caught them all. The question is whether we want to reset the high score system or not, now that it is more robust. We need your vote.
