Actually, the default these days is VLC and it comes with LaunchBox. Can you check what your setting is set to in Big Box under Options > Videos > Video Playback Engine?
-
Hi @Onehate, please try the latest beta and let me know if you're still seeing any of these issues. Here's how to update to the beta:
-
Thanks guys; I will look into this soon.
-
Hi @03397; the video isn't supposed to resume, of course. Are you using Windows Media Player for your video playback engine?
-
Hello all; I just put out a new beta that should fix a number of issues, including the issue with the text view. Please let me know if you guys are seeing any issues with 7.6-beta-1. If you're not sure how to upgrade to the beta release, please see here: Also, FYI, updating the license file per @rodan1967 won't fix any issues outside of just making sure that your LaunchBox Premium is indeed licensed. There shouldn't be any possibility of that file becoming corrupted either, outside of operating system disk issues.

Okay guys, new beta is out with a bunch of changes and fixes. @CTRL-ALT-DEFEAT, it's a crap-shoot, but if we're lucky this might fix your issues with the prioritize music feature. Here's the changes: - Improvement: A new option has been added to the Big Box General options to specify whether or not you want to hide the taskbar while Big Box is running - Improvement: New options have been added to the Big Box General options to specify whether or not you want to remember the last platform used and the last game used for each platform - Fixed: Startup videos were not working properly on 32-bit systems - Fixed: When using the text filters view in Big Box, the first selected filter was not populating details for the filter (introduced in 7.5) - Fixed: The audit tool was sometimes missing a few games from your collection - Fixed: Additional stability issues in Big Box with the "prioritize music over video audio" option

Thanks @oilertitanfan; I am aware of this issue and it's on my list to fix here soon. @imdavid555 Thanks for the stack trace. I believe I have that fixed for 7.6-beta-1.

LaunchBox for MS-DOS Special Edition 1.0 Discussion

Ha! Sounds awesome @dukeemu. -
I see; you can still type it in and it will automatically create a new platform.
-
Gotcha. Yeah, in theory you should be able to batch edit selected games in the audit tool and change the Platform field to a new platform. But yeah, you'd also have to set the emulator separately, though it should be easy enough to do it in batch for all the games.
-
Yeah, also keep in mind that if you re-import existing ROMs, it won't create any duplicates. So you can always just re-import things as well and it'll skip anything that you already have. But yes, the new scanning tools should come in handy.
-
Hi @vanei, I understand this is confusing. Originally all the games came from TheGamesDB.net until we transitioned away from them due to their downtime issues, so that is the reason for the discrepancy. I know it's annoying though; perhaps we can fix that at some point here.
-
Hi @anderbubble, honestly we started out with that approach. The first beta that we put out did indeed use a no intro database of sorts, but we quickly learned that it was going to be cause for a lot of confusion. Even though no intro is very common and rather prevalent, there are still a lot of people who do not use no intro ROM sets. Beyond that, it takes a relatively deep understanding of how ROMs work in order to use a tool like Romcenter productively. Our goal with LaunchBox is not to become the end-all kitchen sink for hardcore emulation, but rather to make it as easy as possible for people to use and manage an attractive collection. We believe that completely replacing a tool like Romcenter is indeed out of the scope of what LaunchBox should be, as we want LaunchBox to be approachable and easy enough for the average user to use without a lot of study. That said, we do plan to add a number of features to the auditing eventually to make it even easier to handle things like duplicates and region prioritization, but we do not have plans to completely replace tools like Romcenter.

Alright, we're home now. And we're bored. You've already teased us, @keltoigael!
-
This is puzzling to me as I don't think anything changed that should affect that. Is this a common experience for anyone else? I can't keep going back to the same old issues; what theme are you using @ckp? Have you tried rebooting, etc.?
-
@CTRL-ALT-DEFEAT I finally got your massive videos downloaded just yesterday, so I'll take a look at all that stuff soon. Also, I will probably be adding options to disable the last game and last platform remembering as well as disable the taskbar hiding for the next version.
-
Thanks guys. From what I can tell, there are no big emergency issues with 7.5; most of the previous stuff I saw was a false alarm. Of course that's not to say there aren't any issues; we did run into the following two surprises: - Startup videos aren't working on 32-bit machines (this was just me being stupid) - Audits supposedly don't always show all games (probably an issue with the threading algorithm) So I'll be looking at those issues shortly, as well as going through everything else in this thread. We'll probably put out a bugfix release in a week or so, but I don't plan to rush it out. Gonna take my time and keep focusing on bug fixes.

Are you all squared away then as far as stability? I need to move on to some other things, but I'm sure the community can help you with platforms. -

Hi @CALLSTANLEY247, there are no 7.6 betas out yet; the latest version is still 7.5. I'm guessing maybe there are some invalid folders paths for your platforms that might be causing the issues. -
Hi everybody, I honestly haven't read through everything here yet, but I wanted to ask if anyone is having any stability problems with 7.5. I woke up to a couple people reporting that LaunchBox and Big Box won't start, so I'm trying to gauge if it's some kind of really obscure issue, or if it's affecting a broad range of people.

Hi @CALLSTANLEY247, let's get this resolved; my apologies for any issues. What version did you upgrade from (what version did you have before the upgrade)? Is this a new issue with 7.5? If you can, zip up your LaunchBox\Data folder and email it out to me at jason@unbrokensoftware.com. That way I can test with it and see what might be happening. -
It's out as much as it's gonna be; feel free to download it there for free.
