@zerohex When you get the chance, check to see if you're still getting that error with beta 4.
-
Cool. Keep beating beta 4 up guys if you can. We need this next version to be 100% stable, so the more issues we find, the better. Thanks guys.
-
Did beta 4 fix it @neil9000?
-
Alright, beta 4 is out that should hopefully fix that error reported by @80sarcadeboy and @kpop.
-
And this is why we test. Thanks @80sarcadeboy. I'll have a new beta out in a little bit.
-
Lolololol.
-
Thanks @kpop, looking into it.
-
Ah, I see. I have seen that before, but it's hard to replicate. I'll take a look.
-
@qqmoreqq It's probably loading VLC. I assume the videos don't start up immediately?
-
@zerohex Further research on that error suggests that it's a nasty series of Windows bugs that people have run into repeatedly with various applications. Supposedly though, it should be fixed. Are you all up to date with your Windows updates? Unfortunately if you already are it's gonna be very difficult for us to solve since it seems to be an OS issue.
-
Hi @qqmoreqq, it looks like somehow your LaunchBox\Metadata\Metadata.xml file got corrupted. It should work fine if you just delete that file and restart LaunchBox. I'll look to see if there's anything I can do to prevent that though.
-
Also, are you running Windows 7 by chance?
-
Hi @zerohex, are you using Windows Media Player or VLC for your video playback engine?
-
Awesome @zerohex, appreciated. I trust you're on 7.4-beta-3? It literally just came out lol. Also, anything you can do to test is especially appreciated because I'm really hoping we can turn this beta into an official release and end the quick-fire release cycle that we've had over the past week.
-
Alright guys, I have 7.4-beta-3 out now, with some extra safeguards against videos improperly playing in the background, and some various fixes for some rare errors from Bitbucket. I'm very much hoping that this is a good release candidate for 7.4. I'd like to get a stable 7.4 out before tackling any new features. In my testing it seems perfectly stable, but I really need everyone's help to beat up this release so that we can end the quick-fire release cycle. Thanks all.
-
Hi @zerohex, please try the latest beta. I think I've got pretty much everything fixed, but I need to confirm before I put out the official release.
-
No worries @reddingmyst; got your message. I'll send it to you.
-
No worries at all Neil.

Oh, @ckp, I tested with multiple Xbox One controllers, but it seems that the issue only applies to controllers that use the wireless adapter (either that or a different firmware or drivers than I currently I have). I picked up a wireless dongle to test with as well as a Steam controller from Amazon so I should have those in a couple days. Thanks @Rincewind. Sorry for being difficult.

Hey guys, the problem with a new thread is that everyone has to re-subscribe to it, so it won't get near as much attention. For that reason unfortunately we need to stick to the same thread (so that people will continue to get updates about the thread without having to resub, as I need as much help with this stuff as possible). I just put out another new beta with a bunch of fixes: - Improvement: Image type preferences are now saved between launches when switching between image types in Big Box - Fixed: Using All Games as the startup view was causing various issues - Fixed: DirectoryNotFoundException rarely occuring on exit There's more, but that's what I'm currently remembering. Please let me know how this beta fares for you guys.
-
Thanks Tony, agreed. Hopefully we can get there soon.
-
Hi guys, please email kirsten@unbrokensoftware.com. She can get you the code.
-
Thank you guys; can you update to the latest beta and tell me if you're still seeing this?
-
Try unplugging any game controllers or anything related; we have seen some weird issues with certain uncommon game controllers. What was the last version that you ran successfully? It also could be something odd with your data or your configuration; try installing a new copy of LaunchBox to a separate folder and see if you can get Big Box to load that way.

So it only happens when MAME is active? Not when MAME isn't running?
