  1. I'm not overly worried about getting into major legal trouble over it, but as a company we should refrain from actively doing things that we know are illegal. So sadly, yes, we need to stop posting them and take them down on the forums. It's unfortunate but we make an active effort to be legit legally in everything we do, so we should do the same here.
  2. Here are the release notes guys: Download many different platform theme videos from directly within LaunchBox Tons of new music features including full soundtrack support Scan for added and removed ROMs Large performance improvements
  3. Hello everybody, it's that time again! The only thing that will be going into 7.0 is bugfixes from here on out. I'm hoping to release the official 7.0 version before the end of the week (ideally Friday). Now is the time to update the translations if you guys can. @CliveBarker @AFaustini @Wattoo @Opaklopper @dukeemu @cyanjiang I'll get the release notes to you guys shortly as well. @xena990 Thanks for hitting us up and sorry for my late response. I have several translation packages to generate yet so I should be able to do that shortly after the 7.0 release and I can get you guys started. Thanks!
  4. More referring to issues with the .NET framework on Windows 7, @ckp, not Windows APIs. Also, he is already using x64. We can look into using further tools if this latest beta doesn't help.
  5. Ah, thanks @Charco. Good to know. We keep having random various issues with WMP but I can't remove it because I'll have a rebellion. I should go back and try and fix any issues I can with WMP, but at this point it is highly recommended to use VLC.
  6. Thanks all. New beta is out that drastically reduces startup time for Big Box (and probably also helps performance across the board). We tackled this in the live stream this morning. Startup time for @cammelspit's collection was reduced from somewhere around a minute to about 10 seconds. This beta should also fix the recently introduced game controller input bugs (lag and/or repeated input). Other various things were fixed as well, including the Documentation.pdf bug (finally). Per DirectX in the installer, assuming you do indeed already have all the DirectX libraries installed, I think it should be safe to skip it and just ignore the error. That said, I do add new DirectX libraries to it from time to time, so it's always safest just to allow it to run.
  7. Oh, by "latest" I mean a new beta that I will put out in a couple of hours.
  8. I did just add something to ensure that cleanup is happening properly; however, I wasn't able to replicate such high memory usage. I let Attract Mode go for around a half hour and memory on my system hovered around 1.2 gigs as CoverFlow images were loaded and disposed. This is with videos and all, and even while caching the images. Give the latest a try @Strwrsteve to see if anything is improved for you. I suppose it's possible that Windows is just struggling to manage the memory because it's running out so badly and it's having trouble keeping up with cleanup due to heavy use of the page file, maybe. I'm not sure. One thing I would suggest is an upgrade to Windows 10; Windows 7 is showing its age at this point (7 years old now which is a very long time in computer terms), and I wouldn't be surprised if there are some Microsoft glitches lurking around in Windows 7 that have been long fixed in the latest versions of Windows.
  9. I think I have this fixed for the next beta @FUBAR. New beta should be out in the next few hours.
  10. Thanks for the report, @FUBAR. Sounds like this is specific to controller input; will take a look.
  11. Hmm, okay. I will review. We're using WPF/OS-level image caching for Big Box, so I think the OS should be doing a proper job handling it all. I'll take a look though to make sure.
  12. I'm hoping this is fixed for the next beta. Basically, we used to have those annoying weird lines underneath some of the logos in the wheel, and the solution was to adjust the painting a hair as to not draw past the edge of the image. I reduced the amount that we do that for, so I'm hoping this resolves the issue. Let me know after beta 22 comes out.
  13. Hi @captainwarnock, good point. I'll add that to my list; would be good to get a ticket in for it as well if you can.
  14. Hi @Clads92, sadly it's not possible to scrape in different languages currently. It is planned for long-term but it will probably be a while before that is implemented.
  15. We resolved this in the live stream this morning. Was caused by a platform that was not Super Nintendo but was for some reason using a Super Nintendo clear logo.
  16. Good point guys. I don't always think about it, but yes, there is a difference between fair use of images for archival purposes and distributing the game's actual content (soundtracks). As much as I would like to be able to distribute them, I'm sure we're under legal obligation not to. Sadly we should probably stop hosting them here.
  17. Yes, background videos do start back up for me fine after exiting games. That said, I don't use Rocket Launcher for most of my systems.
  18. Alright guys, new beta is out. I believe I caused a bunch of random issues throughout the app with betas 18, 19, and 20. I added some threading optimizations that got a little bit too overzealous, and since lots of various features make varying use of different threads, it was probably causing some interesting havoc. So take all of your Big Box performance testing with a grain of salt for those previous betas. Beta 21 that I just put out should finally at least bring us back to previous performance levels, and should fix the weird little issues like the wheels not displaying and input taking more than one try or skipping around.
  19. Thanks guys, I'm able to replicate that missing logo wheel thing myself with the default theme. Wasn't happening for me for some reason with CriticalZone. I'll look into it.
  20. MBR/GPT really should have nothing to do with it, but the file system is still an important consideration. File system would be NTFS, FAT32, exFAT, etc., which is separate from the partition table (MBR/GPT). The partition table doesn't really come into play during every day reads and writes, but the file system most definitely does. Per fonts, good question. I haven't done any significant testing with changed fonts in Big Box, though honestly it doesn't make a whole lot of sense why a font would cause performance issues.
  21. Hmm...good question, guys. I will test. I use the keyboard mappings for volume regularly but I haven't tested the controller buttons in a long while.
  22. Alright guys, new beta is out. Just added the last new feature that I plan to add before the official 7.0 release. You can now download James Baker's Big Box Cinematix themes for *games* now as well using the wizards and the edit dialog. So there are now two choices for game theme videos: the EmuMovies ones from @CriticalCid, and the Big Box Cinematix videos from @BakerMan. Let me know if you run into any bugs with that stuff. Obviously, Baker's themes are a lot of work, so selection is still fairly slim for those, so don't expect broad coverage out of the gate. He's working on platform theme videos primarily first and then he'll work on adding more game videos. Finally, we had some reports of some performance degradation specific to 7.0-beta-19 (the last beta before this one). I'm curious to know if anyone else noticed (I received two reports about it on Bitbucket) and then also if this latest beta fixes it. Thanks all.
  23. Hi @salyangel, I'm completely lost here. How is it impossible?
  24. Hi @websherpa, I'm confused how that would be different than just scanning for removed and added ROMs. Can you explain?
