Per the stretching, oddly, I'm having trouble reproducing. I suppose it's possible that it's a Windows glitch that was actually fixed in Windows 10, or maybe it happens only with certain emulators. I've tried changing the resolutions in Dolphin and PCSX2 and I can't get it to happen. Anyone know what emulator(s) are causing it?

Thank you @sylandro. I figured this out and have this fixed now, thanks for your help. :)

clarky05 said SUCCSESS! Thank you so much wouldnt have thought to look at kodi. So basically i think what was happening was that i had set Kodi to "KEEP AUDIO DEVICE ALIVE" because i used to output sound to bluetooth speakers. This was sending an inaudible tone on the Xaudio driver. When big box tried to start up it couldnt use the audio driver because kodi was constantly using it, this is what was causing it to crash. So in short, make sure that in the audio settings of kodi you have "KEEP AUDIO DEVICE ALIVE" set to "OFF". I would also like to say that this is by far the best peiece of software i have ever used alongside kodi. Its just brilliant and setting it up is so easy and well thought out. You honestly have done something ive been waiting for, for quite literally 6 years. In closing all that i can add would be: 1) The ability to select music to play when each platform is selected and 2) custom themes, it looks amazing as it is but im sure the community can throw some extra eye candy on this brillaint set up. Thank you EDIT: Is it possible currently to play specific videos upon selecting a platform (i.e the bios screen video) Awesome! Glad that's figured out. I have both #1 and #2 on my to-do list. Platform videos are not possible as of yet, but I'll add that to my list as well.

eric said just got the big box and it looks great.....in LB it shows all my games but when i go to bigbox i can only view my recently played games,,,how do i change this? in the options, thanks Hi @eric, welcome. Did you try selecting a platform (Enter key)? Selecting a platform should show you all the games for that platform. Other than that, I can't think of why Big Box would only show Recently Played games.

Ah, wow, so that's happening in both LaunchBox and Big Box. I have seen it before in LaunchBox. Ugh, I imagine that's an ugly pain; better tackle that one soon. Thanks guys.
-
Good to know, thanks. Would you mind sharing your Steam ID? Is it private right now?
-
Yeah, the trick with the imports is you really need there to be zero false positives. I'd rather have it not find a game than find an incorrect one, so I lean on the safe side. I've tweaked that matching process a lot, but of course there's always more tweaking to do. I'll look into : and !. :)

@orac31, unfortunately if I let controllers work in Big Box while it's not focused, then Big Box would be doing things while you're playing games, etc. Unfortunately Windows sometimes steals focus away from programs during startup, so this happens occasionally. Not sure if there's anything I can really do to get around that issue.
-
Thanks, @orac31. I do have an item on my list to try and fix that automatically for ePSXe.
-
Weird, I thought it was doing that. It should show this message if you try to import with a private account: Is that broken for you? Just be nice to get that fixed if there's an issue with it. :)
-
Good point @garbanzo. I remember this from way back but somehow it slipped between the cracks. I'll get it on the list. :)

I've done some experimentation; any chance that either of you guys have more than one controller attached to your systems? I'm not certain, but I'm thinking there might be an issue with multiple controllers. Also, try switching between "Use All Controllers" and specifying a controller. Let me know if any of that helps.

Hi @sylandro, for the life of me I can't replicate this. Once games are deleted, they re-import just fine for me. Any chance you thought they were deleted but they just exist under a different platform or something? How did you delete the games? If you happened to delete the platform, that doesn't delete the games. That would just mean that the games are still there without an associated platform.

Hi dariodb, Nathan's right. I do plan on adding playlists, but they're not a high priority right now because they're so similar to features that already exist, such as custom filters. It's not quite as convenient as a proper playlist, but custom filters should give you what you need to create something that acts like a playlist.

DeathProxy said Jason Carr said Another new beta out. I finally added a "Hide" field to games, so that you can hide games from your collection in LaunchBox and Big Box. I'm finding it really convenient to only show games with images and metadata completed in Big Box. Also supports bulk editing. This sounds great:D. How can I do a bulk edit to hide games without any kind of metadata? Also, I found a reproducible crash that I reported but I figured I'd report here too. If I'm scrolling down the list while trying to flip a box it will crash. I can easily produce this by going down the list and spamming the flip box key/button, and there's some noticeable lag when doing this as well. This also causes the Launchbox.xml to become corrupted. Keep up the good work:]. Well, it's not perfect, but assuming you use TheGamesDB for the bulk of your metadata downloads, you can just filter to TheGamesDB.net ID: None, then Ctrl+A, and use the wizard to mark all the games as hidden. Good find on the flip box. I'll get that fixed. :)

DOS76 said I am having a problem with both LaunchBox and BigBox not returning to the correct resolution after exiting out of both KAT5200 and Project 64 I've noticed in the last two betas. Hmm, well...nothing has changed with anything rendering-wise in a long time, so maybe that issue always existed? Does it happen any time the resolution is changed? What exactly do you see on your screen?
-
Nathan DiYorio said Oh good gravy, thank you for this. You have made me life easier with this "hide" feature by a degree which I could never even quantify. Great to hear. It's helping a lot in my collection as well.

And here's another. This has the beginnings of additional filters in Big Box. Press Escape to get out to the system menu, and you'll see other filters options. Obviously, there's a lot of cleanup work to do here to make it all smooth. None of the other filter types have main images (we currently don't have images for developers, publishers, genres, etc.), so I'm not quite sure what to do with that, for the moment. I'm toying with the idea of allowing images for all of the various field types. Beyond that, keep in mind that custom filters do not work properly for this beta. I'll have that fixed before the official.

.Net dependency causes installation problem on Windows XP
Jason Carr replied to pm's topic in Troubleshooting
Hi Patrick, version 4.9 was the last available version to (sort of) run on XP. I say sort of because most of the wizards don't work, and it's probably prone to crashes if any of the problematic features are used. I don't freely distribute old versions of LaunchBox online, but I can send you a copy of 4.9. I'll send you a Dropbox link to your email. -
Hmm. Well, I've installed the latest version of Kodi myself, and I can't seem to replicate the issue on my end. However, that issue seems related to sound, considering that it's the XAudio2 DirectX library that's throwing the error. I suppose it's possible that something weird is going on like Kodi is stealing the DirectX audio engine exclusively. However, I don't see that issue happening on my machine. Try disabling the sounds in the Big Box options and see if that fixes the issue.

Hi @garbanzo, I honestly didn't even know that problem existed until just recently with the platform, but I found it randomly and fixed it on the spot. Find as you type is on my list. Per the missing covers/metadata, this isn't a perfect solution, but you should be able to filter by TheGamesDB.net ID: None, which should at least tell you which games didn't automatically populate with metadata/images from TGDB.
-
Hi @CoX, that is almost exactly what I had in mind, actually. I wasn't aware that it already existed anywhere, though; that's great to know. I'll take a look at it to see if I can streamline the idea. But yes, that is the goal. Pretty much anyone can contribute anything, but only the best data will be used by default. At least that's what we'll shoot for.
-
Hi @clarky05, that's an odd one. Normally that error only happens if DirectX isn't installed or updated. Any chance you're running Kodi as a different user or something? Maybe as administrator? Otherwise, I don't really understand what would cause the problem. I've tried to replicate it with batch files or anything I can think of, but haven't had any luck.

CoX said Thank you Jason, its nice to see things are evolving sp quickly atm. btw. noticed another small thing. If you don't add all your MAME roms in the specific folder in MAME you have to edit a .ini (which i can't find at the moment for some weird reason), which kinda defeats the purpose of the genius way launchbox can import the roms to the games folder inside its archive for portability... any thoughts? Sure, I see what you mean. It works well for most platforms, but there are a few that it doesn't, of course. I should probably disable that option for MAME and the others, or change it. I actually have some significant revamping that needs to be done for those platforms to better support searching TGDB, etc.
