  1. Cool; I'll be sure to update/add all the new platforms to Big Box before the official release. Also need to update the platform alternate names list.
  2. It looks right to me, but I haven't used Retroarch for Turbografx 16. Perhaps something else is required in the command line for TurboGrafx 16?
  3. Ah, okay. So it's not a glitch with the latest. Not sure; I can't seem to replicate it.
  4. This should only happen if the download is somehow corrupted. It should hopefully work right if you just try it again.
  5. Hi Raven, I still need to add an icon to the setup. But if you load up BigBox.exe instead of LaunchBox.exe, that will take you directly to Big Box.
  6. Odd. Could be a bug introduced with all the platforms changes, I suppose. Are you able to replicate it with a new install?
  7. Sure; I'll add that to my list. Though, I still think that different platforms should probably be handled with different games.
  8. I'm currently uploading a new beta on hotel Internet, and it's taking forever, but it'll probably be out by the time you read this. The last couple of days I've been squashing bugs and adding little necessities, like About, version display, etc. I fixed the issues with Page Up and Page Down as well. We're getting really close now to the official release; I will not be adding any more features to either Big Box or LaunchBox before the release; it's just bugs to kill at this point. Of course, development will continue for the next release. That said, please report any bugs you find in the latest beta. We've changed a lot for 5.0, so I want to have at least a week of testing before putting out the release.
  9. Hi @Klamp, welcome. Unfortunately I don't keep a change log for betas because it would just be too much work and would slow me down from actual development. However, usually if I don't update this thread, I'm just squashing bugs, but I guess not always. Regardless, new things have almost always been discussed at some point in this thread.
  10. Hi @Cabirus, I have an algorithm in place that tries to guess between differing names, but it only works if no other images are found. I did this for performance reasons. In other words, if it finds an image with a proper name, it doesn't look for additional images with improper names. Is this what is happening? Can you give me some examples of games/images that aren't matching up? Per your second suggestion, yeah, that would be cool. The trouble is identifying which games truly are the same game, and which aren't, etc. When we eventually get to creating our own database, we can set it up this way, which should make this possible going forward.
  11. Hi Raven, that's somewhat of an unusual situation, so there's not really a good automatic solution. You can add them one at a time pretty easily though, assuming there's not a lot of them. Just point the application path to the shortcut.
  12. @bd00, none of the images are being pulled properly from Dropbox (they're requiring you to sign in, and so they're not displayed on the page). I've removed some of them for now.
  13. Thanks, Mark. Looks like a great start. I'll see if I can come up with a solution for the images.
  14. Welcome @raven_rvz01, and thanks for the purchase. :) @SentaiBrad's right, unfortunately. It's not impossible to have an overlay on games, but it's extremely difficult and error-prone. I agree that it would be really useful. We might try and tackle it down the line when we start running out of ideas. ;)
  15. Hi @cyanjiang, we'd love to have a Chinese translation. Is Chinese your native language?
  16. Good idea, @Bil. I'll look at that approach for the future. :)
  17. Hi Mike, welcome. :) I'd appreciate it if old versions of LaunchBox weren't distributed here on the forums, as in general, I'd like everyone to be using the latest version. I do occasionally hand out old versions where necessary, but I'd rather they not be here on the forums. Out of curiosity, what version(s) are you most fond of? Any reason why?
  18. Good to know on that image change type bug, good find. I didn't get a fix into this release for that but I should have that in very shortly.
  19. Hey guys, just put out a new beta. I'm hoping it helps significantly reduce the performance for clean up images and the initial image moving. And, if we're lucky it might help solve the other image lagging stuff. Let me know. I've also filled out all the options in Big Box for hiding and showing things in the details and the menus, as well as finally added @scree's platform metadata (thanks again @scree!).
  20. Agreed. I have some pretty neat ideas for library sharing/social features as well, though, so hopefully it'll at least be progressive.
  21. Hi Shades, unfortunately TGDB is almost completely unresponsive to requests/suggestions. I've tried a few times in the past couple years and I've had very little luck. In the future, we're ultimately going to be creating our own game metadata and images database partially for this reason. When we do it, we'll make sure we cover pretty much all grounds. :)
  22. Cool, so I see the solution just being a check box to hide or show the items, as well as a simple Sequence numeric box. Then we can allow you to move items up and down in the grid of additional applications.
  23. Ah, sure, I see. That definitely makes sense, though I might like to keep it a bit more generic. Would it be suitable to just add a check box that says "show in Big Box" or "show in right-click menu" to hide the rest? Or do we need those available as well?

    Local Metadata

Hi @Bil, thanks for that info. I still feel pretty in the dark about the possibilities for local metadata parsing, so that helps. What system do you have that generates those text files? I assume they would be stored in a separate folder, per platform, like the images are now? Depending on the final solution, we may implement this with the new database, or we may wait until afterwards. Not sure how it will all play out.
  25. @bd00, not sure what might have happened, but I just did a test with a standard forum account and I was able to edit the main wiki page. I was in the middle of changing things before, so it's possible that it messed with things while you were testing. Can you try again?
