  1. Very nice. I always wished I lived during a slightly earlier time...to see all this stuff come into fruition.
  2. Nah, restricting uploading to be a premium feature would mean much less people uploading, which we definitely don't want. We want the database to be as populated as possible, so that can't be a premium feature. But yeah, I don't see it being a big problem, at the beginning. Though I would build in safeguards, obviously.
  3. First console was my parents' Atari 2600. That was the only console I had for a very long time. Thankfully, though we had plenty of computers. I probably owe my passion for development to that. I was bored one summer when I was 11 and dusted off my Dad's old 8086 from the basement. Put it up in my room. Took me a while to figure out how to put it together, but I made that thing sing. 640 KB of RAM, a 30 MB hard drive, and "turbo mode". Fun stuff. Ended up using GWBasic to do a bunch of stupid stuff (earlier version of QBasic, came with IBM DOS 3.0). It was IBM DOS at that point, not yet MS-DOS.
  4. Very nice guys. Thanks Maddoc for the tutorials. ...I use Plex too. And XBMC.
  5. Hi Sylandro, welcome. All text between parenthesis or bracket characters is currently removed, as most users don't want multiple versions of a game in their collection, and searching TheGamesDB for metadata won't work as well if (Japan) or (Europe) are left in the title. I did add a Region field in the last version, but unfortunately the ROM importer currently won't automatically identify it from the file names. That is a good point, though; I'll add an item to my list to see if I can do that. Probably an option to not remove those characters should be provided as well.
  6. But of course, I will be adding font customization for the sidebar very soon. Sorry I haven't gotten to that yet.
  7. The font size is changed automatically (for both premium and non-premium users) depending on your Windows settings. So if your Windows settings are configured for vision-impaired people, then the fonts will be much bigger OOTB.
  8. Yeah, for sure, here's hoping we can get some more translations going. I'm excited because LaunchBox now allows for adding languages pretty easily, thanks to Clive working with me to make it happen.
  9. Hi alkemade, that is not standard functionality. It sounds like there's probably an issue with your game controllers (one is off or malfunctioning and the system is sending the signal). Try disabling game controllers in the Options.
  10. Ew. Zuckerberg. It would definitely be regulated, but may be community regulated. If someone is abusing the system (which honestly I think will be fairly rare), then it would be easy to ban them quickly, and remove all of their content. Yeah, it is definitely a challenge, but I think the end result would be worth it. Can always put limits in place to prevent system overload. I just know so many users put so much time and effort into their collections. Allowing them to easily share it all would be amazing, even if they had to prove their feasibility first.
  11. Yeah, in truth I see no reason to ever get rid of TGDB or Wikipedia, but if we go that route they may not be enabled by default. Regardless, there's not much reason to completely remove their support from the application. So I certainly wouldn't worry about losing any of that functionality. Per the moderation issues, I have some *really* cool ideas towards solving that problem, that have not been done before. I'm almost hoping that this one wins the vote, because the more I think about it, the cooler the idea gets. Allowing everyone to click a button and have their entire collection added to the public database could mean we have the most extensive database in the world. The system could then recommend entries based on which ones are most populated, and chosen the most often, while giving you complete control to choose whatever you want. This would be a challenge, but I believe we could well solve any moderation issues, as I have very extensive experience with these types of development issues. But the possibilities go well beyond sharing metadata and images. I'm envisioning a broader social platform where people can share their collections by posting web browsable versions of them online, community ratings, and much more. Still not sure if we'll head in that direction, but it is exciting for me currently. As always, any and all thoughts are welcome.
  12. Can't believe nobody's mowed it yet. No one appreciates anyone these days.
  13. That lawn isn't going to mow itself, folks.
  14. I found the MS-DOS manual more interesting than friends. It's a wonder I have any social skills at all.
  15. No worries, easiest thing to do for GOG games is to use the GOG-provided shortcut file in the application path. Otherwise, you can customize the DOSBox configuration and such if you put it into LaunchBox proper (select the DOS startup exe and DOSBox config file), but there's no reason to do that if you're happy with the GOG configuration. Per the batch file thing, you might be able to do all that by adding multiple additional applications and marking them to auto-start before running the game, but I'm not sure that would really be any easier. It would certainly be nice to have an automated solution, so I'll see if there's any way to do that for a future version.
  16. Yup. At one point I built an extensive multi-level menu system for all of my games/apps that used only autoexec.bat and config.sys files. Was really quite useful. And I felt like a programmer when I was 12.
  17. No worries, I don't mind. Multiple posts means I know more than one person would like a particular feature, which often lights a fire under my posterior.
  18. Welcome, eXo, and many thanks for your work.
  19. Sure, nesting like that has been a long time request, and I can definitely see the benefit of it. It is unfortunately still a major thing to tackle, which is one reason why I haven't gotten to it at any point. I'll add this to my list.
  20. Hehehehe, no kidding. I remember every detail about my first machine...640 KB of RAM, a 30 MB hard drive (yes, that's megabytes), and a CGA monitor (16 colors, 4 at a time). Classic 8086.
  21. Hi Stimpy, I have plans to allow proper customization of this. For now, though, it's an attempt to put games in proper order (such as making sure Half-Life: Source comes before Half-Life 2). There is a Sort Title field you can use though to reorder just that one game.
  22. I think most any decent shooter has an easy setting that can be used. Per shooters that are worth playing, Bioshock Infinite and Dishonored are both incredible modern shooters. Dishonored is more of a stealth game, and can be played barely shooting anything at all (though I often find it more fun to shoot). Tomb Raider from 2013 is also an incredible game, sort of as an adventure/shooter crossover.
  23. Yeah, one of the reasons I love GOG so much. Fills a hole that we had for so many years...now if more publishers would just use it...
