  1. Hi Sennator, I'm not overly familiar with other payment solutions, but I will certainly take the funds any way you can get them to me. Even if you just want to mail me a check, we can make it happen. It's only $10, I don't have any problem trusting you, either, so I can just send you the license.
  2. By the way, Maddoc, my wife is semi-seriously pushing for us to move to Ireland. She's getting fed up with some of the laws being made regarding health care and food in the US. What do you think?
  3. Ah, I see. Yeah, that drop down is slow when it has a large number of items in it. We could definitely use a better multi-select drop down solution. I'll add that to my list.
  4. Ah, I see. Yeah, custom filters show up in the list under custom filters, not in the main drop down. It allows you to filter your collection by anything, but not dynamically like that. I see what you're getting at, once we properly support multiple types of media (games, movies, music, etc.), we'll need multiple levels of filtering like that, for sure. It does get pretty complicated at that point, so I want to make sure however we implement it is easy to understand.
  5. You warm my heart, Sentai Brad. Hi Fluffo, ran into some irritating things about the way the Steam community stuff works last night, but I'm still hoping to put out a beta late tonight with this functionality.
  6. Hi Dos, sure, I wouldn't think that would be any more work, sans for adding other metadata import sites.
  7. Hi kamyk, I think the odd backslash issue might be hard to resolve, but I believe I've given people the permissions they need in order to upload batch files, at least. I definitely want to get any of these types of issues solved. Hopefully uploading batch files does work now, at least.
  8. Hey Stimpy, exactly! This is right along the lines with what I'm hoping to do eventually with the metadata database thing. I see it as bigger than just a metadata database, but also a social solution, with the ability to easily share your entire library on the web, both for people to view, and for people to use your metadata in their own libraries. I was sort of rooting for the metadata database to be higher up on the voting results, so we could do stuff like this sooner. I think I'll probably have to implement the home theater view first, though, seeing as that is the clear winner, at least thus far.
  9. Indeed there has, Fluffo. I have a Steam API/user ID-based import in development, that should be out in an upcoming beta very shortly. Hopefully within the next couple of days. I am hammering through it this weekend.
  10. Hi Fluffo, welcome. As for the moment, there is not a way to automatically scan for games on startup. That feature is definitely planned though, and will come eventually. That said, it is easy to drag and drop new games into LaunchBox currently. The games importers will also skip over any existing games to prevent duplicates, so you can re-run them at any time to add any new games in your folders.
  11. Hi Ujin, welcome. Yes, I have long term plans to support other types of media, including music and videos.
  12. Hi littleking, welcome. I am working on a much better Steam import process that will be out soon, which will use your Steam User ID and the Steam API to retrieve all games instead of just the games you have installed. This will be in the next version, which should be out relatively soon. Metadata matching should be improved as well. You can subscribe to the beta releases under Tools > Options > Updates if you want to get this sooner.
  13. Yeah, for sure. We'll at least separate DOS and Windows in the platforms.
  14. Hi Maddoc, this can be done with the new Custom Fields in 4.7 premium. You can add any custom fields that you want (category) and then select them in the sidebar. It sounds like custom saved filters is working the opposite of how you are expecting it to. If you don't enter anything it will show all games.
  15. I think my son actually *believes* he is Sonic. When he runs he sticks his arms out behind him. He thinks it makes him blur.
  16. Wow, amazing the difference that 6 years makes. Atari 2600 vs. SNES. I'm sort of doing that win my son; I gave him a crappy computer to start with, he could only play 2D games from the past. He's recently graduated to a system that can handle GameCube games. Of all the games he's played, the original Sonic the Hedgehog is still his favorite. He's 6.
  17. Very nice. I always wished I lived during a slightly earlier time...to see all this stuff come into fruition.
  18. Nah, restricting uploading to be a premium feature would mean much less people uploading, which we definitely don't want. We want the database to be as populated as possible, so that can't be a premium feature. But yeah, I don't see it being a big problem, at the beginning. Though I would build in safeguards, obviously.
  19. First console was my parents' Atari 2600. That was the only console I had for a very long time. Thankfully, though we had plenty of computers. I probably owe my passion for development to that. I was bored one summer when I was 11 and dusted off my Dad's old 8086 from the basement. Put it up in my room. Took me a while to figure out how to put it together, but I made that thing sing. 640 KB of RAM, a 30 MB hard drive, and "turbo mode". Fun stuff. Ended up using GWBasic to do a bunch of stupid stuff (earlier version of QBasic, came with IBM DOS 3.0). It was IBM DOS at that point, not yet MS-DOS.
  20. Very nice guys. Thanks Maddoc for the tutorials. ...I use Plex too. And XBMC.
