  1. Personally, I never want to see the original type removed. Some good names there Scree, you're not making Jason's job any easier
  2. Are you running a script blocker in your browser? What browser are you using?
  3. @Jason I missed a couple of uploads last night. I added the missing images to THIS post.
  4. Maddoc1007 said All you need to do now bd is create a few seperate arcade one for Sega Model 1, 2, 3 and the Crystal System to go with emulators that people are using for them. I couldn't decide how to tackle these. Here you go: If you had something else in mind or have a better idea, just let me know and I will make it a reality.
  5. Jason Carr said I hear you Hippyshake. I let both names sit in my brain for a few days, and I don't like Couch as much as I used to. Whatever we choose, I need to be able to put it on a button in LaunchBox and have it at least half-way make sense. I do think that a button with "Big Box Mode" on it does make decent sense, but I'm not so in love with it that I'm blind to other options. "Couch Mode" also makes sense but feels too weird/out there somehow, yeah. Unfortunately, I don't think LaunchBox Home would work because I can't put "Home Mode" on a button and have it make any sense. "Big Screen Mode" might work though. But then, I don't know about "LaunchBox Big Screen" being a good name for it. Other than that, I'm still open to other ideas. After review, I do like Martin's "LaunchBox Recliner" lol, but I'm afraid that it has too many connotations again. I think one of the reasons I don't like Couch, Recliner, etc. is that I see this being used for more than just a home theater environment. This could be used very well as the interface for a game cabinet, for example, much like Hyperspin is commonly used for. Hence why after thinking about it I kind of want to avoid "living room" connotations. I like LaunchBox Immersion. "What!" I know, but hear me out. I see this couch mode as a way to cut out all other distractions by focusing all attention solely on LaunchBox. It will Immerse you. I see a button in LB that says "Immerse" or "Immerse Me" which when clicked would fade LB to black and seamlessly launch immersion mode, which would gradually gain focus (visually) as it starts up. I also like captivation/captivate. However, my taste is probably in the minority, so I wouldn't recommend that you call it this. I like both Couch Mode and BigBox Mode. Like you, I see the appeal of both of them and cannot decide between the two. My vote: Undecided Hippyshake said (which I could see people mistaking as a cataloging system for stores such as Big Lots, Wal-Mart, Sears, et al) I laughed
  6. Maddoc1007 said Really looking forward to project couch think it sounds better than big box as that maybe would offend some feminists lol LOL Wow Maddoc, your mind is really in the gutter. Has anyone ever told you that? DOS76 said I think they would be really offended if you called it RaunchBox LOL You're just as bad!
  7. I actually prefer the images to be a representation of the platform, but that is just a personal preference. I absolutely understand that others will disagree and that is why I think it is important that users should be able to customize this. The images are very different, however I do try to keep a uniformity across developers. A little like cover art I suppose. I generally look at the box the console came in or promotional media (flyers and such) to get inspiration. Also, I am certainly not happy with all the images I created, but I am on a tight schedule and I see these as something that can be improved over time. There are some I really hate. I suppose it would be better to use uniform images to package with LB, I didn't really think about that. However, I don't have the time to start over. I will keep posting images, if you want to use them please do, if not, don't and don't feel bad. I get personal preference and it really makes no difference to me, I'm just trying to help out while creating my own set. As time goes on, I will change designs, add alternatives, tweak current designs and share them. But right now I just need to focus on getting a complete set out there. Everyone who is customizing to this level should join in and share. If you feel my creations are not what your looking for, then share your designs for other like minded users. I have a couple of chores to take care of and then the wife wants to watch Game of Thrones. After that I will get the rest created Jason. Nice Scree. Thanks for helping out
  8. There is a button below the comment box when posting. Under the "Poll" button.
  9. I did a handful this afternoon. I will finish the rest later tonight.
  10. Thanks Jason. I will get started tomorrow, right now I need to go to bed.
  11. I uploaded to that thread. I was thinking, maybe you could have a random fanart from the platform as the backdrop.
  12. BigBox Platform Images. Dropbox Repository I have uploaded all the images in this thread to Dropbox to make them easier to browse and quicker to find what you're looking for. Here is the link to the Dropbox repository! Contribute and Share Anyone who wishes to share their own images, please do. I will add them to the Dropbox repository with the rest. Image dimensions are 600 x 513 px. It is OK to go larger, but ensure you retain the aspect ratio. Don't go smaller. Requests If anyone would like to request an image to be created, please do so here.
  13. Yeah I agree, the background image doesn't sit right. Regarding the thread, it might be a good idea to start a whole new topic for images. Not just for this, but other images too. Custom boxes, custom steam banners, developer/publisher logos, custom icons, etc. etc. I believe you are planning your own database at some point. If you can get the community to start farming those "trickier" images now, by the time you have it up and running you will have a more complete database to start with.
  14. I have more. I will create any that you need, they don't take long. I will be working again on Wednesday, so I won't have as much time to spare, but I will fit it in somewhere.
  15. The biggest problem with the logos is the variety of sizes. Maybe we could create some sort image that incorporates the device and the logo. I actually started doing this a while back when I was using a different instance of LB for each platform. Some Examples: This way you can keep the size uniform. You could start a topic where people could upload/share/request images. Nintendo Image thread, Sega, Atari, etc. etc.

    Project Couch

Maybe post the client requirements. File format(s), resolution, file size, your restrictions, etc. Images, fonts, colour schemes, etc. Any ideas you have, your vision. Are you changing the LB logo? Does it need to be incorporated into Couch/BigBox logo? Other details people will need to know.
  17. Sorry to just drop an image in my last post, I was in a hurry. Nice idea. Something like this:
  18. Kriven said There's no reason why the two menus cannot be side-by-side. I agree
  19. There is already a menu on the left though. In the last image posted, on the left side, that is a menu (with clear logo at top) which slides in from the left I think (left press - or am I mistaken here Jason?). Under it is the list of games for the selected platform. Jason said that he already experimented with that menu on the right but it didn't work and is best on the left. That only leaves the right side. Up and down won't work because they are used to scroll the games list. You could put it on the left as a second menu, so, 1st left press = quick jump, 2nd left press = game menu. Another option may be to map it to a controller button/shortcut key and have it pop up on the left or center screen. Personally, I think the always-visible option does make the screen a little too busy and the checkerboard option is a great idea for quicker navigation (remember this project is aimed at couch usage, so using a controller to navigate.). I like the idea of having an option to set a personal preference +1
