  1. DOS76 said LaunchBox reports crash during update then a window saying LB is already running opens. Once you close LB and click OK the install finishes fine but still a minor inconvenience. That happens once in a blue moon when Windows doesn't want to let go of the process for what ever reason, but it should automatically be let go. For example, my recent beta update went just fine in that regard. Is this the first one or has it happened a few times in a row?
  2. CADScott said I noticed an issue with editing some existing games that I have have in my collection. These games were scraped quite a while ago, and no information was found in the GameDB database, so the information came from Wikipedia. I have tried to edit these to see if there was any info in LaunchBox database, but when I click the red cross next to the Wikipedia ID number nothing happens at all (I expected this to remove the Wiki ID and allow me to rescrape) If I click on the Wiki link I get the following error: All the games I have an issue with are in the Sega Model 2 platform, I have attached my topskatr game section from my LaunchBox.xml. My theory is that there are errors when dealing with games that existed at one point, and the pages no longer exist. There is a similar bug with LBGDB pages too because they were based on the GamesDB and sometimes games went away.
  3. Are you a premium or free EmuMovies member? You may have hit your daily limit? Is the platform named differently then the default?
  4. Without an external program Big Box has proper shut down controls built in, otherwise you'll need a 3rd party app that does that sort of thing.
  5. It could just be a fluke, or you can try moving LaunchBox to another drive if you are so inclined. As long as you only move your LB install it should be fine and boot up like normal. Otherwise, it could be other software interfering? Is it only this game or several others? Is it only that core or just RA? Is it other cores in RA too and other emulators?
  6. Nope, all of my games, all over 20k of them are on an external hard drive, USB2 as well. There may be slightly slower loading for PS2 games, but I never really notice it. All my Wii and Gamecube games are also on their own external hard drive. Natively on real hardware these games were only ever read at a fraction of the average speed of a USB2 drive. My USB2 drives, and USB3 on USB2 ports, max out at like 25-30mb/sec? Some where in there, and the discs in the consoles are only ever read at like 4mb/sec. When I burnt Dreamcast games for example, the disc had to be written at a max of x2 or x4 because the way the data would get written, the console couldn't read it. So no you should be totally fine. LaunchBox would technically be better on an internal drive, but USB3 is also fairly fast now days.
  7. I was thinking about it as per-system yea.
  8. It is a bug, and Jason is working on fixing that for the next version, which may not be a Beta.
  9. We have a list of names for alternates, like if you put in NES it should still search the proper platform name, but Arcade is so wild that there is no alternate name guessing. Did you already create that as a ticket Derek?
  10. Of course, let me know if you have more questions.
  11. What if there was a list of preferred front images? So you set it up as a top 5 or w/e. 1. Front Box Art / Flyers 2. Screenshot 3. ... 4. ... Etc. When a game has Front Box Art and Flyers, then that is used, when a game doesn't have that, then it goes down the list until It finds an image. This would obviously work vice versa, so if you prefer Screenshots then that is used unless a game doesn't have it, then it uses the Front Box Art? Maybe not exactly like that, it would need to be more comprehensive, but then at the very least you get a solution for users who want to use alternate art, but also hopefully have less gaps in art. Thoughts?
  12. It probably has to do with what ever you see the user name as is not what the forum has. So I never changed my Forum name, so it's SentaiBrad, but Jason's user name used to just be Jason, not Jason Carr. So if you do @ then Jason, it will adapt afterwards to @ Jason Carr, but putting in that instead wont work, you'll have his last name there twice, it's really dumb.
  13. I did a second test, it's working great.
  14. Of course, if you have any more questions feel free to ask!
  15. Which is odd, because LaunchBox pulled the same thing on me as it did last time, a lot of my games were blank and indiscernible letters and numbers. It pretty much did nothing.
  16. When the license expires you'll no longer be able to upgrade the software, if you do then your Premium features will stop working. If you stay at the same version they'll continue to work. You'll either need to purchase another year at that point or the upgrade.
  17. Did you add a bunch of games to LaunchBox recently?
  18. CADScott said slvc said SentaiBrad said In the other thread I talk about a bit why we currently don't have a trial too. (I love the tutorials if you're the guy who did them thank you) Everyone has given me excellent feedback. The hotkey shortcuts I'll have to check out! I understand why there's no free trial and I respect the honesty. Based off what I've read and watched, BixBox should be exactly what I need. Is it wonky at all with the controls or is there any additional basic setup I may need? All I want is to turn on my computer, pick PS2 or N64 and start playing, and everything I've followed on other sites gives conflicting information. This is the first forum where I've gotten clear answers, so thank you, community. As Brad said setup in BigBox is very simple, and as long as you setup the emulators to work with your controller, then there is no problem with a simple machine that can be switched on and operated from the couch with a controller. I have 38 Platforms, over 8000 games and 10 different emulators, and all of them work without the use a of a keyboard or mouse. I can start a game, exit and return to BigBox and go to a completely different system easily with just the controller, then shut down or sleep the PC until I want to play next time. Made even easier now that BigBox has those shut down controls. ;)
  19. I do do the tutorials, and thank you! BigBox is that easy. As long as the controller works in Windows you just make sure the option to use a controller is on and that your controller is selected in the menu and it works. Works in LaunchBox and BigBox.
  20. In the other thread I talk about a bit why we currently don't have a trial too.
  21. https://www.launchbox-app.com/forum/noobs/is-there-a-bigbox-mode-trial-available#p14720
  22. Well I do the tutorials for our channel, so I fiddle with stuff quite a lot. I just never bothered with the Menu or looked at it once and just thought meh, I don't need this I am at my PC! I only use the controller to play the games.
  23. No, the import processes needs to run 1 at a time. If we allowed for multiple to run there would be even bigger performance concerns. The large amount of games is probably the cause of it. That amount of data, unless you have blazing fast internet and the server gave you full bandwidth, is just going to take a while to download. You can import with minimal amount of extra data at the start and then use the 'Download Images and Metadata' option in the Context Menu. You can either do all of your imported systems or just 1 at a time. Click a game, Ctrl + A to highlight them all, then Tools -> Download Images and Metadata. I would also suggest clicking the option to only download metadata for missing sections so nothing gets re-downloaded.
