  1. CADScott said That is amazing Jason, was not expecting this to be looked at so soon, many thanks. I will give this a test when I get home tonight. I am unfortunately at work at the moment, and for some reason my workplace frowns upon me playing games while working! I play games FOR work... I guess I am just super lucky. xD
  2. Jason Carr said Just put out 5.10-beta-4, which completely replaces the controller AutoHotkey solution with custom code. It should behave the exact same way, but it's now called Controller Automation and it's my custom code instead of using AutoHotkey. Hopefully this fixes the issue? :) When you can't fix what you have, create our own!!!
  3. Well that's why we instruct users to generally just use the default names from the Drop down box when importing or adding platforms. You can change the platform name afterwards if you want as well.
  4. Try renaming your platform to Sega Genesis, that is the default name and any other name (as you saw) can still get metadata, but it can be off. Some games may also not have data too and more is being added soon as our Database is now open for editing metadata and images. Adding games entirely is coming soon. Alien 3 is special as it has a superscript 3 and breaks importing. It's in our moderation queue to replace the superscript 3 with a regular 3 for all versions of Alien 3 so that it scrapes properly. Otherwise try changing the platform with Bulk Editing and see if that finds more through Downloading Images and Metadata. To bulk edit, click a game then hit Ctrl + A to highlight everything, then right click a game and edit. The associated platform doesn't matter much unless you want to add default command line parameters there or use RetroArch which is what we suggest. However, our default naming convention is Sega Genesis. The associated platform's list also only matters when you check the default box for import, otherwise like I said, the only other scenario is for command and RetroArch. The server could have been under a heavy load or fluctuating at some point down the line during that time or your internet connection was wavering. Sometimes there's nothing we can do about it. If you got any more questions please feel free to ask.
  5. Yea of course, no problem. We're sorry and baffled as to why it wont let you either. If you have more questions let us know.
  6. Yes, use the add files option. It's something I cover in the tutorials and is the only way I really import game. Use Add Files, go to your Saturn games folder, then use the windows search box in the top right. Saturn I think you load the cue sheets right? Well if you do use cue sheets, type in "*.cue" or type in "*.iso" or "*.img". I don't remember what Saturn needs, but you can do that as many times as you need. If you need just the images of the games, you can do iso, img, mdf etc all in one pass. When the search filters your games, click one then hit Ctrl + A to highlight them all and click add.
  7. If you're launching Rom files add it as an emulator. If it's a single exe that launches games internally, use the Add button in the bottom right. Add the exe and information you want about it. You can also import it or drag and drop it, but you'll need to select an emulator then edit the use of emulation out later. So since it is 1 file, I would just manually add it.
  8. I still appreciate you taking the time to share this with us though.
  9. Yea you'll need to select an emulator and bulk edit out the use of emulation later. As is that's the only solution.
  10. What is Fightcade? Is it a game? Even knowing nothing my answer would probably be yes it can run.
  11. I think it gets more weird when you look at the AD&D games on DOS. I edited those names and knew that they were Dungeons and Dragons and Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, but I abbreviated them because that is acceptable by TSR (now TSI!!!) and Wizards of the Coast (now, they didn't own D&D back then).
  12. As per the nudity, that's why we're discussing it first. As per the names, I don't think Wikipedia was ever the go-to source, but it gets tricky. I say we go by the box art and have alternate name fields. I did say in the draft of the rules that the way the Developers spell it / say it / what ever they do with it should override what people think it should be. Video game content can be subjective, a title is not subjective. It does get weird with the David Crane portion, I agree, but that is what the Box says. We should find it any other sites on the list spell it this way and what the developers spell it as (if they even have a website anymore).
  13. Try backing up your current LaunchBox xml and see if if it imports on a fresh version of LB. Keep your current LaunchBox.xml though.
  14. It just went to my moderation queue on my end... I'll let Jason know.
  15. I created a basic Moderation Guideline for the moderators. Look it over, see if there is anything else we need to add, something we need to change. I went over this post and what I was thinking of and created it. Jason's already taken a look at it and likes it. You can comment on the Doc but feel free to comment directly here. When we are ready to create a Database Subforum for the forums, this will go in a stickied thread there. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wB80CH3zecXccfQ4Et8NxYa-G1bQuo7eo1YHvkYQ728/edit?usp=sharing
  16. Multiple front images are allowed for regions, but it should specify the region. That said, if someone found a higher quality or official piece of front art then just use judgement. We offer resolution comparing to make sure that we are improving quality. It's going to really be what you think is better at the end of the day, but it's also why there needs to be 3 votes in either direction for a verdict.
  17. Well thank you, we appreciate the kind words! We try really hard! I am also jealous of the ability to be able to have that many hard drives. I am hoping one day that I can just make enough money to survive comfortably!
  18. I have a lot, but it's split between a lot of stuff. Video Production, Movies / TV, Emulation, Steam stuff, then everything else. I have to scale back my shows though every so often because I can't afford just buying more storage. Not to mention, ideally you want to buy two each time. One for storage, one for backup. I've got almost backups. xD
  19. CADScott said DR9 said Space is cheap, there is no need to zip CD-based games ever. It's not like I am going to use 1000 USA PS2 games, I hand make my .XML lists of games, around 100 roughly. It may be cheap, but that is relative to you. I would rather have a complete collection that takes a little longer to load on games I don't play often than having to choose which games I really need. I find it easier to get complete collections than agonising over which games and versions are the ones I really need. I have 6.5 TB in my main LaunchBox PC, and I can't easily fit another drive into it so anything I can do to reduce file sizes is good. Each person sees the advantage or disadvantages of compressing roms in different ways, and it is up to the individual to decide the way they want to manage their collection. There is no right way, or wrong way, just your way. I am just pleased we have the ability to choose to use it or not. Agreed.
  20. I think this might be a purely unique questions. Technically speaking there is nothing holding BigBox or LaunchBox back from performing assuming you have the VGA converted to Composite cabling. The resolution may be funky and really squished too, but like I said, technically it should function.
  21. It's getting cheaper but it's not about the price of the technology technically speaking but rather that some people can't afford it and have to make do with what they have.
  22. Treat them as different "Roms" or Games or use the default / vanilla one as a game then put the rest as Additional Apps so when you right click the entry they'll be in the right click menu. If you want metadata and stats individually for them though they'll all need to be seperate.
  23. Dear lord you bought a whole new PC for this! Wow, thank you a lot for that level of dedication! We appreciate that.
  24. Our working and not working list is based on official lists from the MAME dev's. Have you tried it in MAME? Knowing what engine the game uses will let us know which emulator would be a good alternate, but I don't know and quick research hasn't yielded me anything. http://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Arcade_emulators
