  1. What are you using to match what to what exactly? In terms of LaunchBox, everything in brackets is completely ignored for scraping purposes, and the initial (import) scraper is set to be a bit more strict. Edit: Any respectable set will have region and version tags in brackets.
  2. Not really, that's when it gets hard. You can Ctrl Click several games, but that will take forever.
  3. It could be a theme thing for sure. The best way to double check and make sure is to use the default theme. Check the controller and keyboard buttons as well, there might be a hot key for them as well, I can't quite remember.
  4. I converted all my games to PBP's as they are slightly compressed and you combine multiple discs. All of my games were named eboot.pbp, so I used Advanced Renamer to rename all the sub folders after the folder they were in. It makes a huge difference, because Mednafen PS1 (Beetle PS1), will name the save states as "eboot", so they're all the same. Loaded a Blasto save from Alundra, and it loaded Blasto. As for if they work, .pbp files (which is the file extension, not eboot), don't work in ePSXe. As far as I know, the only emulator to use them is Mednafen PS1 (Beetle). Either Mednafen standalone or in RetroArch, and RA is the superior package.
  5. In LaunchBox or Big Box, try checking the box "To use all attached controllers". See if that helps.
  6. Right, the AHK code. There was a version that let you disable that... though it might have been an older version. Thanks Monkus.
  7. In Big Box, most views and themes wont directly launch a game. Usually a menu pops up or it opens up the Game Details view. In the Game Details view it will list all of the merged entries for you.
  8. For RetroArch (which is the emulator you'd want to use), you just set it in to full screen (the F key when loaded up), then close down RetroArch. RA by default will save to your default config automatically, so it should be fullscreen when you open it up from there on out. If you need more RetroArch help, there are tons and tons of threads on the forums about it, I've made hundreds of replies related to it (if not over a thousand). The forum search may not be the greatest, so actually Googling your issue with "LaunchBox" might actually result in better... results. There's also all of our video tutorials on our channel as well. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6pTDaHeAz-WMcNURVPU-1xLN_TVpT3FB
  9. Emulation is certainly achievable in Linux and Android, and I would certainly call it better than emulating in Mac, but Windows is certainly the best place to be in that regard. I have a personal affinity towards Intel and Nvidia, I think it's the best combination and worth the money, but AMD does work for some people.
  10. Cue sheets can actually be more complicated, mostly when there are audio files loose with the game files. You can create them or convert the games to be in the proper format. If you don't have download limits though, grabbing a new set will really help in the long run too.
  11. That's odd. I don't use ePSXe on a regular basis, someone told me about it in the options and it had worked for some people. It might be a specific version, or one of the latest versions. I've also tested Controller Automation in situations where a confirmation screen pops up and that did work for me at one point too... I tried to double check stuff, but ePSXe crashes on me. So, RetroArch does have a higher requirement for disc rips, but I think it's a good thing. If they're in other formats, they're generally not worth it. You need a cue sheet or a ccd file along sine a bin or an iso (almost always bin). A Trurip or Redump set would be what you're looking for.
  12. RetroArch is a better PS1 emulator I think, so I do suggest getting that to work, however, there are two things you can do here. Go in to the ePSXe options and disable the confirmation on exit thing, or press your Controller Automation exit buttons a second time.
  13. Ok, but we're talking about converting the AVI to an MP4. There are other solutions, but handbrake is one of the better free ones. Again though, AVI works just fine and there's really no need to convert in the first place.
  14. Cool, if that works though then you can certainly use Handbrake afterwards at least. There's nothing wrong with AVI though, and it should work in LB.
  15. It certainly is. Monkus and I tell people all the time when we think they could benefit from using a different emulator. For example, someone tried using DOS and PSP in RetroArch, and we honestly told them that DOSBox SVN, DOSBox Daum or even the built in DOSBox is much better. The other person, that PPSSPP in RA is very out dated. On the flip side though, when someone is having issues with an emulator outside of RA, and we know the emulation is better or their problem can be solved by switching, or maybe we know how to solve that problem in RA but the emulator is still better, we'll tell them about that too. In the end, if someone still wants to use what ever emulator they want, then that's totally fine. We're not gonna judge anyone. We get called RA whatevers all the time, but we're just being honest. I'm with Monkus; I don't think I sound defensive, but I'm gonna tell someone the truth anyways. So if you use nothing but standalone emulators, then that's totally fine. There's a reason why our Database, naming conventions, emulator choices and etc are all open, we're not gonna tell someone how they need to keep their library in the end.
  16. Is the Version field refilled out for your games after restart? If it's not filled back in, try refreshing the cache. You can do that by highlighting everything like you did to Bulk Edit stuff, and then press F5. The names are cached too, and that could be it if the field is empty.
  17. LaunchBox still downloads things, they're put in to your Videos folder. They're not being streamed or anything like that, you just have to use LB to download these things and certain stuff requires Premium.
  18. I specifically didn't choose the one where you had to mount things, because it's an utter pain in the ass. Then Mednafen came around. Your GPU might help with Saturn, but a better CPU would probably be the thing that needs upgrading the most. Your PC doesn't need to be FAT32, NTFS is fine for pretty much everything (unless you're working with an actual console or system that needs FAT32). You might want to find a trurip or redump rom set for Saturn games. Having them be a bunch of different file types is going to make things harder in the long run, especially when you want to use Mednafen.
  19. So, if you use multiple controllers, it's not that they're losing their bindings, the internal ID's change. It's a Windows thing that we can't do anything about. So if you have two controllers plugged in, I don't remember what triggers it, but your bindings would essentially switch. If you're playing single player games, just leave one plugged in.
  20. Yea, for the most part, RetroArch honestly pushes the envelope when regarding emulation "conventions" and I think they get some flak from that. Similar to how LaunchBox shook up front ends, so I think that's why some of us sympathize. It's not perfect, it needs some alterations in UX so things are a bit more explained, but they're working on that. To be honest, a lot of the hate comes from misunderstanding and the unwillingness of people to figure out something new. I don't think that's their fault, but I do think there are things they can do to make it a bit easier, and they're working on it.
  21. That's the version field. Bulk Edit those games and remove the Version Field. You can turn it off, but it turns it off for all systems. For some reason, if a game doesn't have anything in brackets (sometimes even when it does), it just assumes it's version is the game name.
  22. Yea, I guess im losing the point of the disagreement then.
  23. Reicast technically works just fine as is, but it's not good emulation regardless. Demul and NullDC are better in most cases.
  24. Yea, making statements as a whole based on one or two examples for everything as a whole is a very bad idea. As for the list of stuff offered as bad for RetroArch, yea we agree. We tell people all the time about what cores not to use, and it's primarily PSP, DS, DOS and Dreamcast. That doesn't make the rest of the emulator bad, in fact, most of the rest of those cores are much better because of RetroArch then they ever were in Standalone form. Hell, the Sega core (Genesis GX? Not Pico), only exists on PC's in RetroArch. Otherwise, it's on consoles only, and it's fantastic. It's not really true that cores are behind, MAME is updated quite often now. PSP though on the other hand, is 2 years out of date, not 2 releases out of date. I tell people that constantly, and have people switch to PPSSPP. For N64, playing in Mupen64Plus is totally fine. I'm doing a stream/LP using that core, and my PS4 controller. Works much better than anything else standalone. The rest of that stuff, the stuff that has to do with RetroArch, they're improving. Cheat support shouldn't be considered make or break in my opinion, but they're certainly improvising it regardless. If no one wants to maintain the core, like PSP, then it doesn't happen. They just rolled out 3 new systems though, and they're working really well. What RetroArch is pulling off, to bring a multitude of features across many systems at once is astounding and no one else is attempting it. Mednafen tries to a smaller extent, but is in RA anyways. BizHawk is trying, tried, but... yea. What's the one on Mac? I forget the name, the multi emulator, but it's honestly a joke. So sure, RetroArch doesn't hit it out of the park with every core, and the ones it doesn't the standalone's are actually very competent. However, calling RA bad because a few cores are not maintained is a very dumb thing to do, and calling all standalone emulators better because those emulators for those systems are better is also just as foolish. It's a 2 way street, and everyone benefits in the end. RetroArch, because of what it's doing with its unified system, is doing some really awesome things. It goes far beyond video game system cores as well, and can be put on quite a lot of different platforms. It's flexibility and sheer powerful nature can not be ignored, and it's something most other emulators can't achieve.
  25. Steam games are not added like normal games. If you edit a steam game, you'll notice there's no path. It's a Steam API thing actually, to launch games directly. That way, a path is never needed to be known, Steam just deals with it. You can add steam games like a normal game, and add the exe, but letting the API deal with it is best. You can input that command if you follow another entries example, but you'd need to know what you're doing.
