  1. Dal said I've found other systems which allow this to be done which is a really helpful idea to navigate. Big Box mode should allow perhaps a button to be held (i.e. a shifted key) and a push to the right jumps to the next letter or left to jump back. So hold down a shifted key (i.e. P1 Side Button 1 + Push Right) jumps from number 1 to 2 and the list shows the games starting with '2' then pressing right again would jump to '3' and eventually on to 'A', 'B', 'C' ...etc. I like that idea! The triggers can be used for scrolling currently, maybe holding the Back button as the Shift key and the triggers could skip through letters.
  2. Jason Carr said My apologies, @Lmagnus87, but that's about as priority as cleaning the bathrooms in my house. Eww, too much information!
  3. From what I know it is available for sale on DVD, for play on PC. I am not sure where it is available from, but this is the reason that it is not downloadable, as it is not considered abandonware.
  4. How well do the games play? The last time I looked at Cemu it was pretty slow.
  5. Cliff Hanger is still commercially available, and is therefore not available for download through Daphne.
  6. Cool ideas, I have used the custom platform idea for Kodi and Steam big picture launching, but I love the idea of the dummy game for hot key reminders.
  7. Have you made sure to enable the automation button controls in LaunchBox, they were turned off on mine when I updated to the latest beta.
  8. If you hit escape in BigBox, you can go into options, then go to the the Controller Automation settings. I this area, you need to check the Use Controller Automation checkbox, then you can assign buttons for Hold Button (Usually the Back button on a 360 controller) and the Close Active Window button (Which is usually the Start button). Then to exit an emulator, you hold the Back button, then press Start and it will exit.
  9. SentaiBrad said For moderators and people who have missed it, our moderation Guidelines are currently here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wB80CH3zecXccfQ4Et8NxYa-G1bQuo7eo1YHvkYQ728/edit Please read it over carefully, comment here on the thread or in the doc about changes, edits or additions you want added to the list. Please read it carefully as well. @SentaiBrad, I have notice that many edits seem to be replacing the actual first release date of a game (Usually Japan) with the North American release date. I feel the release date should always be first release, maybe something to clarify this in the guidelines would be worthwhile? @Jason, perhaps in a future update there could be separate date fields for different regions?
  10. Cebion said While doing some edits I missed a comments box for submittings to state a reason why I want that change. For example there was a box cover online but with mobygames branding so I changed it with one without one. If the change only contain minor changes it would be nice to have some insights. Definitely agree with some comments for modifying images. This would make is much easier to see why an image has a delete request, unless the image is obviously the wrong one for the game, it is currently quite difficult to see what the reason is for the change.
  11. All the issues I had with the previous beta are now sorted, I can exit all emulators without closing LaunchBox, and the volume control is much easier to use, many thanks Jason!
  12. Ahh, was editing when you posted Brad and lost my edits. This issue with LaunchBox closing as well as the game with the controller buttons Back and Start is actually happening with nullDC, PCX2 and ColEm. Mame, PPSSPP, Retroarch and Dolphin seem to work fine through LaunchBox, and all work fine in BigBox.
  13. Edit: I just noticed one strange thing, when I play a Dreamcast game through LaunchBox, and use the Start and Back buttons to exit, LaunchBox and nullDC close. This does not happen with BigBox, and I have only noticed this with nullDC.
  14. @Jason, I have just spent half an hour trying out the new beta with dual controllers, and I have had no issues at all! I have tried nearly all my emulators, through BigBox and LaunchBox, exiting works fine and volume control with both controllers, not a single issue. Many thanks for this update, this has made my standalone BigBox machine even better! Only a little suggestion, the volume control is very fast to adjust when I use the shoulder buttons. Is it possible to slow it down, or require a unique button press for each volume step, rather than holding the button and having it go up and down automatically?
  15. Jason Carr said Yeah, depends on the day I suppose. Just got an original Xbox in the mail today (late birthday present), so I have squeezed in a few games indeed. :) Ooo, the original Xbox is probably my favorite console, tied with N64. I have so many good memories of playing some amazing games on that system. I had one when I was at university and had LOTS of time for playing games with friends. I sold mine years ago, and have regretted it since. Hmm, might have to check eBay for one of them before they become rare and collectible! Happy belated birthday by the way!
  16. Jason Carr said Hahaha, that's what I do and look where it got me! ;) Living the dream, getting paid to play games (Though I doubt you have much time for playing with all the coding and bug squashing you are doing!)
  17. That is amazing Jason, was not expecting this to be looked at so soon, many thanks. I will give this a test when I get home tonight. I am unfortunately at work at the moment, and for some reason my workplace frowns upon me playing games while working!
  18. Different file types also compress better with different compressors. For some reason Sega Saturn BIN files seem to compress and extract much faster from RAR files, and they are also much higher compression than anything I can get from 7Zip. It is worth experimenting with different compression formats to see what works well for each rom format you are using.
  19. It is a very great loss with Prince's passing, he was a very talented musician. The world has lost a great many influential and talented performers recently, such a shame.
  20. I forgot about PigZ! I had tried that ages ago, and it was much faster, I think it is able to use multicores, but 7Zip cannot when doing GZips.
  21. I think the idea of alternative name fields is a really good one. We could have the Box Name, which would be exactly what is on the box (“David Crane’s A Boy and His Blob: Trouble on Blobolonia”), and if required, another field for scraped / sorted name (“A Boy and His Blob: Trouble on Blobolonia”). Even better would be if we were able to choose the one that we wanted to display in LaunchBox / BigBox. This is very similar to how Kodi handles metadata for movies and TV, the scraper program I use has the original title and the sort title. This works really well for overseas titles where the names are in another language, but there is an equivalent western title.
  22. ALIE said anyone who has gasmes in Gzip. hearing good things I tried GZip for my PS2 games, and they worked fine. It takes ages to compress them, even on a fast machine and the first time you play them it takes a long time as PCX2 creates an index file on the initial play. I ended up going with CSO though, much quicker and easier to create and plays a bit quicker too.
  23. Cebion said SentaiBrad said I created a basic Moderation Guideline for the moderators. Look it over, see if there is anything else we need to add, something we need to change. I went over this post and what I was thinking of and created it. Jason's already taken a look at it and likes it. You can comment on the Doc but feel free to comment directly here. When we are ready to create a Database Subforum for the forums, this will go in a stickied thread there. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wB80CH3zecXccfQ4Et8NxYa-G1bQuo7eo1YHvkYQ728/edit?usp=sharing Looks very good. Don't forget the German USK. About the nudity part. I agree with you about Screenshots. We can always take those wihtout Nudity in it. But with the covers I disagree with you. If we manipulate the covers they're not original anymore and we destroy our whole policy of good quality submissions. Not that it is something that will ever effect me, as I don't have any adult games in my collection, but I agree with @Cebion on this one. If we modify the artwork in any way, we are destroying the integrity of the database. Also, even if the images are censored, many covers and names are very suggestive and should probably kept away from kids prying eyes! Perhaps all adult games should be hidden from searches by default, and only enabled manually in the users control panel. That we there is no danger of people accidentally finding anything offensive.
  24. Thanks for the Moderation Guide Brad, that looks good! I am actually unable to moderate at the moment, the site appears to be crashing when I click on the moderation link under my account, and I get this error. This occurs on two different machines which are connected to the net through different connections, so I don't think it is my end.
