  1. Normally no, did you recently import some Mame games ? Now when you import Mame games at the last stage where you can pick and choose the different filters at the very bottom of that window there is a check box to turn off auto generating playlists for the Arcade platform.
  2. Change "Platform" to "Platform Categories" and this will sort the platforms by categories such as Computer, Console, Arcade and Handheld. By the looks of it you have playlists generated for your arcade games which you can either delete the playlists or you can edit them by right clicking them and unchecking "Include this playlist in the platforms lists".
  3. Well I always say people should use what works for them, if that is SSF then that is fine but for the average user setting it up to mount disks and installing Daemon Tools without the ad-ware that is bundled with it is a more complicated process. If input lag with fighting games and shooters are of such a major concern then why not just play the Mame versions where input lag is a minimal issue (I say minimal because there is always some). The vast majority of those types of games are arcade ports anyways. I agree with you that the topic title is awful because Saturn emulation is not crap. SSF and Mednafen both do the job quite well, it's just up the end user which they prefer and suits their needs.
  4. It's all good, we're here to help in anyway we can. Tip: Even if you don't need the bios for certain games make sure you keep them around just in case. You never know when you might need them in the future.
  5. The extra input lag might be certain games, again I don't have the equipment to test it and I have nor seen anyone one do any actual tests like Brunnis did for the SNES. While Yabause may have lower input lag its compatibility is awful in comparison to SSF and Mednafen. This is still mounting a disk though, it's just automated instead of doing it manually.
  6. That remake in the video looks a lot like the PC Engine version which is very good as well if you wanted upgraded graphics from the Master System version.
  7. Quoting this for emphasis and like @fromlostdays and @DOS76 have said, the requirement of bios will depend upon the emulator being used.
  8. Not exactly sure how you managed to play any games with SSF without mounting a disk image or inserting an game disk in your CD drive since SSF requires this. Though it could be possible they added the ability to straight up load image files without mounting them in a virtual cd drive in a very recent release. I have not kept up with it in the last year since Mednafens release with Saturn support. As for the input lag I have not done testing of this myself, I do not have the equipment to do so. I have read though from more than one source saying that SSFs input lag is bad but so is Mednafens compared to other mainstream emulators. I have not found either to have bad enough input lag to make any game unplayable.
  9. And that is a very good reason. You issue of some games not launching may have been a bad disk image problem. I use both, I use ePSXe on my HTPC which isn't fast enough for the Retroarch core but on my main gaming rig I use the RA core because I like it's shaders better and easier to deal with multi disk game swapping with the controller. Like I said, both emulators are excellent and there is no clear cut best, both have their pros and cons.
  10. Wow, this is just so full of garbage. While the Steam sales are not as good as they once were they are not "crap" and to compare them to "purportedly gray market" key providers such as G2A or GMG who have been accused of obtaining their keys through dubious methods is hardly fair. Of course someone obtaining goods illegally will sell them cheaper than a legitimate business. Steam is the one providing the servers and tech support while G2A and GMG do not. You can call Valve / Steam letting the companies "BS" all you want but it is a fact just as it is up to the game devs to set the sale price during a sale. I am now locking this thread because it really is nothing more than an nonconstructive rant.
  11. Why though ? I am just curious why you would choose it in such a broad and non specific way. Both are very good and each have their pros and cons. I wouldn't say it is a clear cut winner in which is better or worse.
  12. By default it should skip already imported games, you can force it to import duplicates though if you wanted to for any reason.
  13. There is "resume" option but if you cancel and import I believe there is an option to keep what was imported and then later on you can re-import the full set again and it should skip over what was already there.
  14. Glad you got it sorted out. I saw this post and unfortunately was unable to help you with it at all since I really don't do much of the DOS based stuff at all.
  15. From what I have gathered here and there Jason is also working on some web site improvement stuff as well so that could be taking up some time.
  16. The most expensive component in your system should be the CPU especially if you are wanting to do Saturn, Dreamcast and newer systems. You certainly do not need a high end GPU at all but a relatively modern one (1 gig of GDDR5 vram) would be nice to have.
  17. " The minimum recommended CPU is a quad-core Intel Haswell-microarchitecture CPU with a base frequency of >= 3.3GHz and a turbo frequency of >= 3.7GHz" https://mednafen.github.io/documentation/ss.html
  18. The .xml files are in the \Data\Platforms\ folder of your Launchbox folder, make sure LB is not running while you edit them though. You enable Beta updates by going into Tools > Options > General > Updates. The latest beta should be stable but of course it is beta so no guarantees. If you do go the beta route simply select the platform you want to change the rom path for and in the Tools menu near the top you will see the menu entry you need.
  19. Yeah you can either update to the latest beta which has a bulk edit rom location tool. Re-import roms like DOS suggested. Or you can use Notepad++ to edit the platforms .xml file. Here is a guide I wrote on how to do that.
  20. If you are missing .cue files you can download them from http://redump.org/, they only provide the .cue files though so it's not covered under copy protection laws or anything. They of course have to match up with your bin files or they may or may not work.
  21. If you are 100% certain you have the correct bios and Retroarch is detecting them and happy with them and you have the correct command line parameter there are only 2 possibilities left. Bad disk images or you are not pointing to the .cue sheet. Generally speaking you want your disk images to be in .cue + .bin format, multiple bins are fine as long as they are all indexed in the .cue sheet.
  22. If you load the core it will say which version of Mame it was built from and what rom set is meant for it.
  23. Yeah, the one without a year should always be the latest core and updated semi regularly. I believe they tag one with a year when it's no longer being updated with the current Mame builds.
