  1. Did you enable it in t he controller settings in BigBox mode ?
  2. If you really want overlays that badly then go for it but just in case you don't know what you are in for RocketLauncher is not a fun program to learn how to use at all. It will be a lot of extra work just for overlays and a couple of other cosmetic features you may or may not use.
  3. Can we get an option in the controllers to select which controllers can control Launchbox instead of a single controller or all ? The reason I ask for this is I have a flightstick and it drives Launchbox crazy with continuous scrolling and I don't want to have to unplug it and plug it in when I want to use it
  4. Launchbox does not handle overlays itself yet, it is something I believe Jason has planned for an eventual future feature. For now you will either need to use RocketLauncher or Retroarch for any overlays you want to use.
  5. Most emulators are not a nightmare to setup at all. The associated platforms tab is for assigning different platforms to an emulator and command line parameters for those platforms, not for rom paths. Rom paths, if they are necessary are set in the emulator itself. I highly recommend checking out Brads tutorial videos on the youtube channel and starting with an easier system to emulate.
  6. It shouldn't need to recognize anything to enable it but who knows, maybe your TV is different.
  7. The input lag is because of the way it processes the image and it's there for everything, it's just a matter of how much is there and for gaming the TV should definitely be set to gaming mode.
  8. I think I turned on Gaming Mode on my TV almost immediately so I never saw any gaming related issues with it at all.
  9. Yeah Threaded Video can cause some input lag in the game itself. It's certainly not an ideal setting to have on and judging by your CPU it really shouldn't have to be on. My system I mentioned I have hooked to the TV doesn't need it on to run the Snes9x core.
  10. I guess it could be the TV itself, I have zero experience with 4K TVs. Game mode usually just turns off some video processing shit that causes input lag but I guess it could be possible it does more shit on 4K TVs that might cause issues.
  11. Unfortunately I am really at a loss for why you would have performance issues swapping from the monitor to a TV. I Have a PC hooked up to my TV (1080) and it runs the Snes9x core just fine. The PC is nothing special either, it's an older 2.2 Ghz AMD CPU with 2 gigs ram. I even run it with Hard GPU Sync On though I have to set the frames to 1. You could try turning Threaded Video On but that really is not a preferred option as it introduces some input lag. It's really meant for low end hardware and it is sort of a last resort to getting things playable. You may want to try posting over on the Retroarch forums and hopefully someone like hunterk of one of the other real experts over there can help you out with it. If you are just using stock
  12. Ok if you don't know then most likely you aren't using any shaders at all. To double check load up a game and in the quick menu under shaders look for "shader passes" it should be 0 if there are none. I was kind of thinking that maybe if you were using a shader that rendering it at 4k maybe causing a performance bottleneck. Did you set Hard GPU Sync to Off ? I found one thread on the Retroarch forums where a user reported that hooking up to a TV caused bad performance and setting Hard GPU Sync to Off fixed it. On is the preferred setting to reduce input lag.
  13. Yeah if you run Steam in the background it will cause that issue.
  14. It just worked out of the box for me but if that's not the case for you just go to the Settings menu > Input > Input Hotkey Binds and at the very bottom is Menu Toggle. Press X on your keyboard or whatever your confirm button is on your controller (probably O on a PS4 controller) and then press the "guide" button or PS button on the PS4 controller.
  15. I'm fairly certain but don't hold me to it because I don't use it personally, but I believe you can set a custom key press or combo for saving and loading save states in Retroarch. I just use the quick menu by pressing the "guide" button on my controller and using the save state manager there.
  16. Not much to convert to it really and well worth it over setting up stand alone emulators IMHO. I think overall for the 8,16 and 32 home consoles it wins out over stand alone emulators. Some of the stand alone options may be technically better on paper when it comes to the actual emulation quality itself but the slight difference in emulation accuracy is so minor it is more than offset by the extra Retroarch features. Perfect examples of this would be the NES and SNES emulation choices. Yeah puNES and Mesen are more accurate than Nestopia and Fceumm but the difference is extremely small. Same with SNES, while Higan is technically superior BSnes Accuracy is so tight on its ass plus it is so much easier to use. I really love the consistent look and feel that Retroarch provides with its shaders and reduced input latency.
  17. The rest of the features were basically listed in my opening paragraph. "shaders, hard gpu sync for reduced input latency and easy to manage save states" As decent as the shader options are in ePSXe the ones in Retroarch are better and you have more variety.
  18. I think I put in a bit-bucket request for it a while back, not 100% sure of that though.
  19. I'm heading off to bed but give this a try and post back with your results. I will check in tomorrow and see how it went and if anything else needs to be done. First what is the clock speed of your CPU ? Until I check back tomorrow use the Snes9x core (not one with a year in the name). Load up a game like Super Mario World, then bring up the quick menu and go to the Video settings and scroll down. Check and see if Hard GPU Sync is On or Off, it should be On for lower input lag. Next look for Hard GPU Sync Frames and set it to 1 if it is set to 0. If this still doesn't work turn off Hard GPU Sync and see if that fixes your issues.
  20. Were your emulators installed in a folder within your Launchbox installation folder ? By the sounds of the error your emulators got moved. I have moved my install of Launchbox and even moved roms, then used Notepad++ and the "find replace all" tool to edit rom paths in the platform xml files and it all worked.
