  1. Yeah, I definitely like building a larger list, but I think the "all killer" is a good tool. It leaves off too many older titles for my taste, however. As far as the Maximus gui, when I drop the .txt file on it, nothing happens. No report or .lst created. I also notice that if I go back to the "supported files" box later, after running an export to LB, if I drop down to Maximus Arcade, it doesn't change to the location of the Maximus related files... stays on location of LB .xml.
  2. SentaiBrad said My guess would be yes, but we might need to make some changes our selves for the vertical orientation. I would really like to see even a most basic vertical theme... as of right now BigBox is not practical for a vertical screen.
  3. Ok, so I deleted everything and started fresh with version .7j, and the filter list was generated first try and export to LB appears to have been flawless, so that is great news. When I change the export box to Maximus Arcade, the Lightspeed.txt is generated, however when I drag it on the Maximus converter box no .lst file is created that I can see. *edit* At a glance, the "all killer" list is looking like a solid place to start for people that just want to set up MAME quickly and play some good games.
  4. Yeah, I have been using GLSL for several versions, so it would all be new to me. I have different setups for horizontal and vertical games using different RL setups now, which works fine, but I would definitely like it if I could use one shader for all games.
  5. Thanks, lordmonkus... I didn't know they had made big improvements to HLSL. I'll have to give it a go.
  6. Would a theme make it possible to make BigBox usable in vertical orientation, or is that going to take additional changes in the program? I mean, it's possible to use it in veritical, but you can't read anything, the layout is bad, etc... Just curious.
  7. Tried it again with "run as admin" but no luck. Hard drive space is plenty. My path to roms folder had reset at some point so I fixed that but still no luck. Tried "match roms folder" but didn't work. I'm sure it's something small but I can't seem to figure it out.
  8. I don't want to throw another wrench in things, but when I create the new list file, it is again corrupt... 0 kb. My MAME .exe is still on .173, is that possibly causing it?
  9. Sure... I'll send it over to you now... sorry for the delay, was out of town a good bit this weekend... last night I just collapsed. lol
  10. I also noticed the font issue some time ago... was trying to add some cool video game/LED looking fonts and none of them would work.
  11. With "prevent duplicates" un-checked, I am still getting an empty list.
  12. Well, I just checked and I do have the "all killler" folder with .txt files inside. I'm wondering if maybe it didn't generate until after I closed Lightspeed on the first run or something? Let me try again and see what happens.
  13. So, my plan was to start with the "all killer" list and add to it... when I get to the "export" tab at the end of the wizard and hit "filter" my list is blank. Have I done something wrong, or is it possibly a problem with the "bypass filters" feature on the "all killer" filter? Wizard is looking amazing... can't believe how many more options there are than at first. I'm guessing at the export page I just select Maximus Arcade, or whatever frontend I want, generate a list, then open that list in the frontend? Looking great so far... just stuck on the export tab.
  14. Ok... Let's do this! Gonna test the latest version... sorry for the delay. :) My plan is to run this and set up a new MAME list in Maximus, which I have barely even touched... maybe opened it once or twice. So this will be a great test of how easy it makes it for me to set up a new install with a frontend with which I am not familiar. Round one! FIGHT!!!
  15. I was cleaning up my system drive today and found 4.6 gb of temp files from old updates in the Launchbox "updates" folder. Would it be possible to have Launchbox cleanup all but the last 1 or 2 (this was 45 old updates)? Thanks for considering.
  16. I just looked at the RL forum... they have a small LB section, but no mention of it that I could see.
  17. Cool... I use RL and would like to try this out. Not sure how it works though.
  18. Jason Carr said everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate, and everyone is vital to community, including any and all perspectives. Jason Carr said eliminating excessive amounts of negativity. Jason Carr said There are jerks everywhere, that's for sure. We're just good at weeding them out and sending them packing. SentaiBrad said I don't think we've banned anyone yet, but we're certianly not against it! As a paying customer, I just want to point out that some of these comments not only seem to contradict, but also make it sound like you are, in a subtle and round-about way discouraging people from expressing critical opinions. Compared to other forums I have seen there are almost no "jerks" that I have seen here. I worked in customer service for 6 years and was pretty good at it... I can say that, when you choose to be a company and sell a product, part of what you have to deal with is negativity and complaints from customers. The reality is that you have to get used to it, and get good at it.
  19. I have my system on an SSD and my files on an internal HDD. It's very slow to load (Win 8.1), but my point was that an HDD is another factor that can slow it down.
  20. Jason, congratulations on the success of your 6.0 release. Glad to see things are going well for you and Launchbox. As far as performace mentioned earlier in the thread, I wanted to point out too that running off a HDD can slow you down. I have too much emulation data to store on my SSD's, so I keep it on an HDD. I'm aware that this slows down my boot time for LB, etc... so this is something for us all to keep in mind. HDD is a trade-off for more space.
  21. What we really need are image "sets". In other words a person downloads a .zip file with all the .png's for the theme in it, then can load that single .zip as a theme in Big Box. The .png's inside are named using a standard template so they are recognized by Big Box. That would be your basis for simple submission and use of theming. Is this already possible?
  22. I tried a pirate version to use all the features before I purchased a license. I would never have bought a license otherwise, as I hate to buy stuff that I don't know if I will like. So, worked out in Jason's favor in my case. *edit* I will add... new feature updates are the best DRM. If you keep rapid adding new features, many people will get tired of trying to hunt down an updated pirate version and just buy it. win-win
  23. I am also going to be running the new version soon. Have to update my rom set and I just want to play around with the filters. Been a bit sidetracked on pinball lately. :)
  24. I didn't know that either.
  25. I didn't even know 174 was out... lol. Perfect timing for a new Lightspeed version.
