  1. I would use Antropus Lightspeed importing tool. There are enough filters included that you can completely and easily customize your game set. Easy as checking a few boxes. It will basically do exactly what you are wanting. https://www.launchbox-app.com/forum/emulation/lightspeed-ultra-fast-mame-importer-tool
  2. CADScott said Cliff Hanger is still commercially available, and is therefore not available for download through Daphne. I didn't realize that... what platform is it available on? Just curious.

Thanks guys... have not used Nebula since the big CPS2 explosion. Gonna try out his Model 2. Does it use the same rom set as MAME?

    Bezels

Hey guys... not too long ago I discovered a guy's project to compile a massive archive of custom MAME bezels over at the Hyperspin forums. It's a great collection... thousands of bezels from multiple artists. Some of you may have seen this... if not, here's the link. http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/topic/13722-metalzoics-mame-mega-bezel-pack-bezels-for-900-games-inside/page-11 I just started contributing some of my own bezels to the collection as well. If you are interested, check it out. You can pretty up your MAME.

I just noticed that it is listed as not working in MAME... wasn't it working at one point? Anyway, what's the best emulator to use for this one? Modeler?
  6. Antropus said You see, I don't think they have any obligation to make it dummy proof at all, but rather strive to develop the best emulator they can, as accurate as possible. Front-end developers NEED to research how the program works and call on themselves the responsibility of making the life of their users easier, that's the main point I'll make. The information is all out there. I'm pretty sure that's why emulation front-ends came about in the first place... or even MAMEUI for that matter. The MAME guys just wanted to focus on making the games work perfectly. I remember the first frontend I used, except can't remember the name of it (it was horrible... lol) was about twenty years ago. At the time most emulators out there were ugly and tougher to set up than they are now. Developers didn't want to spend time making things easy and pretty so front-ends and third party gui's started popping up.
  7. With long lists of games, scrolling around to find something becomes tedious. It would be helpful if there were alpha jump lists for the game lists. Meaning I can click on a letter of the alphabet to jump to those games in the games list, or to simply click one key on the keyboard to jump to games starting with that letter.
  8. I agree with all the comments about RA and would add that NeoRageX is really out of date and obsolete. You would be better off just using MAME, IMO. But yeah... Retroarch.
  9. Wow... can't believe how much this has evolved in the short time since you started.
  10. Everything else is fine... just the missing video display.
  11. Hmm... I'm not sure how to get it back. The path to the video is still there, but it's not in the game details bar. The only thing I can think of that might be different is that I was testing so it was the first and only video I had added.
  12. Thanks Brad... yeah I used the "return to desktop" button in BigBox, then back in Desktop mode the video was gone from the game details... option for showing videos was still checked. Even after restart it was gone.
  13. Thanks for the reply... was trying to edit above post but you blocked me. Forum seems to block your edits if someone else replies. Anyway... was going to say option to toggle "repeat play" would be nice too... I'm guessing you have this planned with the proper VLC controls you mentioned. Thanks again. *edit* Found the auto-play option... thanks, works great. *edit* It seems like if I switch to BigBox, then back to Desktop my video is no longer in the sidebar.
  14. I just picked up a set of MAME videos and I'm playing around with the video feature in LB. First impression... volume is very loud. Can I reduce the volume? Auto playback in sidebar... is there way to start playback in the sidebar when I highlight/select the game from the games list? Position. I really like the position of the video in the sidebar... above the bulk of the text. In fact, this is really where I want my snapshots as well (below the video but above the bulk of the text). I was really happy about the beginnings of some customization features for the sidebar that happened not long ago, but not much change since then. Customization for position and order of elements in the sidebar would really add a lot to that feature. I like to see all those nice videos and snapshots at a glance when I click on a game. Platform art in the sidebar as a background would be nice, etc...
  15. Antropus said 3) Now the fun part: if you have the Clones checkbox unchecked, only the main sets will be loaded into the main listview, but all clones will be loaded and available at the Clones Manager Listview, which will list all clones available based on the other filters. Once there, you will be able to select and add ANY number of specific clones into your main listview with a single click. Clones manager! Sweet! That is going to be very helpful. Yeah... Bump n' Jump is a clone... good call.
  16. I love it too, Derek... my desk space has become too cramped though... I have to take some time to re-organize.
  17. I'm going to get the second monitor set back up... it will fix this problem for me and problems with some other programs I use for reading, etc... Everything is easier that way. Thanks for answering my questions.
  18. Nothing really beats the dual monitor setup since all this is already possible. I'm going to have to figure a way to get my second monitor incorporated back on the desktop. The single rotating monitor is wonderful, but it seems like nothing is set up for it. Just switched back to the single monitor and having all sorts of tiny issues.
  19. If there were a button in BigBox to rotate the app, that is all that would be needed. I guess the artwork would need to go to the top or bottom to fit. *edit* I guess I could set up a shortcut to start in vertical BigBox too if that were possible.
  20. I was using a second vertical monitor but had to change my setup to a single monitor. I have a nice VESA mount arm that allows me to easily rotate my single screen for vertical games. The game is fine. When I exit the game to pick the next game BigBox is sideways.
  21. Really not sure how I would use it for a MAME setup with a rotating monitor. Switching orientation through windows between games doesn't seem very practical.
  22. I haven't used Bigbox much, but I'm trying to find an option to rotate into portrait orientation (for those with a rotating monitor setup or vertical cabinet). How is this done?
  23. I didn't know there was a new version. It's picky about the BIOS if I recall? Maybe they changed the BIOS file? I'll have to check into it. Sorry I don't have more info, but thanks for the heads up about the new version.
