So, being that people are probably going to want full sets of the wheel logos for Big Box themes, and there are huge gaps in the logos on the LB games database... the reason that I brought this up is so that we can think about a solution. If our solution is to, as individuals, go download a set from another source like the Hyperspin forums, etc, which is easily done... then the LB games database seems to have a lot less value. Would another possible solution be finding a author who has made these and getting the ok to upload them to the games db? Another obvious solution would be make an entire new set for the LB games db, which would take as long as it took to make the existing ones floating around out there... literally, years probably. I don't know what the best solution is... just throwing this out there for discussion.

I'm trying to straighten out my media file problems from the last couple betas, but I'm really confused about what the proper path is for "snap" and "title" images. It seems like there are a bunch of unused media folders now. Anyway, if someone can tell me the correct file path for those image types, I really appreciate it. *edit* Also... it seems like the buttons to add and delete images are gone from the "edit game" dialog in the most recent beta.

Great job to everyone who has been involved in getting the new LB games database up and running. You guys are doing a great job. One thing that I was thinking about is that with the BigBox themes the wheel logos are going to be pretty important, as a lot of themes are probably going to use them for the game selection. It looks like there are a lot of gaps in the database where there aren't available wheel logos for a game, and I was wondering if there were more available that haven't been uploaded yet, or if we had run out of sources? It's probably not a very big deal yet since the BB themes are so new, but I think people will be wanting, eventually, full sets of the wheel logos like they might have for their other frontends. I was just curious if they were readily available. Thanks again.

Jason Carr said @Drybonz I'm still planning on adding that "scrape as" option, thanks for the reminder. I'll see if I can sneak that in this coming week. Thanks, hopefully "scrape as" and "find media folder names as"... that would be awesome and add a significant amount of "ease of use" for all of us guys... appreciate it.

I think that is great news... I've been interested in the "other project" since you first mentioned it and it seems to make perfect sense to have them integrated since they can work so closely together. :) *edit* The cabinet style art preview is great.

Antropus said I tested the Maximus Arcade exporter and everything went fine. A .LST file was generated in the very same folder from where I dragged the .txt from. I think you will need to investigate your setup, because seems like you are having trouble with processes that create files in your computer or at least in this hard drive. Permission related, anti-virus related, something like that. The fact that you could not even generate the listxml was pretty telling, now you cannot convert the txt. Not sure if I can do much from my side at this point. If someone else could run the same test, like, generate a Maximus list and convert it, that would be a good test to see if it happens in other setups as well. I know it's been a few days but I was able to get the converter working. It turns out it was not a problem with my system, but some kind of glitch with the converter. I went to the Maximus Arcade forums and read some people saying that the converter would not work unless they had it in the exact same folder with the .lst or .txt file they were trying to convert. So, I moved my converter into the same folder as the lightspeed.txt file and it worked perfectly the first time. So, that is all straightened out now.

Drybonz said All images were missing for platforms I had renamed previously. I had to move all images to different folders. My original suggestion to fix this, some time ago, was to not tie the name of the platform to the folder name. In other words allow the user to change the name of the platform as it appears in the sidebar, but continue using the original platform name for folders and metadata lookup. More problems along these same lines... because LB only allows one level of sorting, I have made two arcade platforms, "arcade - horizontal" and "arcade - vertical" so that I can separate screen orientation and still do further sorting. The problem is... because I have made custom names for these platforms, I can not download metadata or images. I have most of my images sorted by Lightspeed... however when I get a custom BB theme set up I am going to want wheel logos for my games. I don't currently have those... but I can't get search the LB games db for them because it won't recognize my platforms. Renaming the platforms causes them to get mixed together, etc... I'm bringing this up again because Jason asked for more information about the problem, above. Having your platform name tied to the media folders and metadata search causes problems. I'm trying to illustrate here some of the problems so hopefully Jason can come up with a solution. Thanks for reading.

I don't see any change in the behavior of the background image in beta 8. This is on the LB side.

In beta 7, if I uncheck all back ground images (as in, I don't want any background image), it appears to create a new "blank" background checkbox in the options, which I can't deselect, which appears to be a random background maybe? Basically, I can't figure out how to make the background just my default image with no other background image when I highlight a game in the list.

I just noticed the "image type" dropdown... I really like this feature. Nice to be able to change the list images on the fly in LB. My images for the platforms I had re-named are again missing after this beta... were there more changes made to the folders?

Jason Carr said @Drybonz I hope nothing broke more than it was supposed to. ;) What happened exactly? Hey Jason, I had multiple platforms that were missing pictures, and I believe it was because I had renamed those platforms. When the image folder shuffle hit, those platforms never got back to normal, so I just had to manually move things around. I got it all straightened out last night. As far as the vertical theme, I'm hoping someone does come up with one. I find myself with at least one monitor in vertical orientation most of the time, these days. I tried one of the user themes last night and it didn't seem to work. I'll take another look at it later.

Had not opened Launchbox for a few days... just opened it to find that my game art is completely wrecked. Is this related to the recent changes in the folder structure? Has there been a thread about how to fix it... if not, how do I fix it? *edit* I figured it out... had to move some stuff between folders.

Andy at Ultimarc will help you out. I have a couple of the Ultrastiks, and he was very helpful and answered all my questions.

rmilyard said So I am getting this controller with the 2 player sit down cabinet I am getting for the kids. Looks like pretty much will work with MAME out of the box. Wondering if anyone else has this and used it with RetroArch or other EMUs? http://www.recroommasters.com/Xtension_Two_Player_Control_Board_Emulator_Edition_p/rm-xt-sd-board-ee.htm You should be able to use it with anything that takes keyboard input. The biggest problem with those is the plexi top... not friendly to modding... like if you wanted to add a spinner or other hardware. If you are not planning on doing that, you should be good to go.

Antropus said Sorry for the lack of replies. Bed sick the whole day with a stomach virus :-/ I tested the Maximus Arcade exporter and everything went fine. Hey... hope you are ok. Take some time off... get better. :) I'm going to try setting the Maximus converter to run as admin when I have some time to play with it later. Even though it wasn't necessary for the Lightspeed.exe maybe I need to do it for the converter. I'll let you know how it goes. My antivirus has never stopped a process without alerting me, but if I need to I will kill it while running the converter to see if it helps.

I have just been hoping that new Saturn emulator would show some progress. :)

Yeah, I definitely like building a larger list, but I think the "all killer" is a good tool. It leaves off too many older titles for my taste, however. As far as the Maximus gui, when I drop the .txt file on it, nothing happens. No report or .lst created. I also notice that if I go back to the "supported files" box later, after running an export to LB, if I drop down to Maximus Arcade, it doesn't change to the location of the Maximus related files... stays on location of LB .xml.

SentaiBrad said My guess would be yes, but we might need to make some changes our selves for the vertical orientation. I would really like to see even a most basic vertical theme... as of right now BigBox is not practical for a vertical screen.

Ok, so I deleted everything and started fresh with version .7j, and the filter list was generated first try and export to LB appears to have been flawless, so that is great news. When I change the export box to Maximus Arcade, the Lightspeed.txt is generated, however when I drag it on the Maximus converter box no .lst file is created that I can see. *edit* At a glance, the "all killer" list is looking like a solid place to start for people that just want to set up MAME quickly and play some good games.

Yeah, I have been using GLSL for several versions, so it would all be new to me. I have different setups for horizontal and vertical games using different RL setups now, which works fine, but I would definitely like it if I could use one shader for all games.

Thanks, lordmonkus... I didn't know they had made big improvements to HLSL. I'll have to give it a go.
