A Music Video Theme. Originally, I was creating this as a platform view for my Vertical Aspirations theme, but I liked it so much, I decided to recreate it as it's own theme. It can be run stand alone as a Jukebox, or you can add your own video Jukebox platform and select it as the theme for that platform. You'll have to supply your own media. If you do a Google search for jukebox frontend, you might find some. You'll need to set up a platform for music videos. I'm using VLC as the emulator using --fullscreen --play-and-exit for the command line parameters. In addition to launching videos, I have several vlc playlists set up. The playlists I set up individually with --random --fullscreen as the command line parameters. RetroArch also has an FFMPEG core that will play videos, but I haven't found a way for it to use playlists yet. If playlists ever get implemented, it will be a great way to have random videos play forever in a bezel. Note: This was created on, and for, 9:16 oriented monitors running in portrait mode. Landscape mode will likely not work at all for this. Horizontal theme added. Select VideoBox in the download for horizontal theme. Select VideoBox Vertical for vertical theme. This is a bare-bones theme. You can run it by itself if you like, but I imagine most people will want to run it as its own view within their theme of choice. In order to do this, in the controller mappings or keyboard mappings section within BigBox options settings, set up the keys for switch theme and switch views. The image below is for reference only. You don't have to use the same keys I'm using. When you go into the platform you'll set up for Music Videos, press your newly assigned button for change theme to bring up the theme menu. Select VideoBox. Once the theme loads you may need to hit the change view button you set up earlier a few times to get to the proper view. Let me know in the comments if you like it, see something that needs improvement, or you have other questions. My recently finished Starfighter cabinet
JaysArcade replied to Gwen's topic in Collections and Builds
Whoa! This is seriously cool! I built a bar-top a few years ago and customized the starfighter logo to suit my needs. Nothing nearly as cool looking as your cab though! -
Getting a AHK file to work on a specific steam game
JaysArcade replied to nutter1980's topic in Troubleshooting
The ticket I created is here and has about 8 votes. Perhaps these tickets should be combined? https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/launchbox/issues/1446/autohotkey-on-a-per-game-basis -
Oh cool. It must be image priorities settings that are built in to Launchbox/Bigbox. I didn't think of that. I hope it works out for you. Let me know if there is anything odd that you'd like me to look at. I know it must be hard to work with that custom screen size. BTW: If you want, you can remove the template image and throw your own bezel in its place. You just need to rename it to the same thing.

Heres what I got for you. Took me about an hour. Honestly the hardest part was downloading and installing GIMP on this computer so I could edit your bezel/template image. Still not sure how, or why you want that image covering the video area so I left it out. I included the Theme Creator Files so you can download the Community Theme Creator and edit it to your heart's content. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/o6i9909gn3jkcpi/AAAovbrS4JyX6P3M4mNVUOZma?dl=0 2020-10-14 20-13-20.mp4

Little late to the party, but I just wanted to chime in that my wheel image caching issues seem to be resolved. Thanks for the quick fix!

Something like this? Or literally just a game screenshot on the side of the screen? You know, If I get the marquee, and wheel, and the bounds box for the video exactly where you want them, you could just drop your own bezel file in there and overwrite whatever image I use for the bezel. Anyhow, I won't be able to do anything from work. I only have access to MS Paint here, LOL. But honestly, I could probably knock something like this out pretty quick

Cool design on your cab there. I'm not really sure about modifying existing themes. I think it would probably be simpler in the long run if you just designed your own. If you message me a generic bezel, I might be able to knock out a simple theme for you. They are pretty simple to make with the Community Theme Builder.

Looks good! You could delete the joystick gif in the theme folder if you would prefer to use the regular wheel. I might try to incorporate something like this in a future version of the theme. Give the user the option to create their own controller graphic. The inclusion of a graphic of the controls right in the frontend would be a good thing to have as it is missing in most themes. Especially considering how much space is available on the theme. Some pause menus show a controller configuration, but being able to see what the controls do in the frontend would ba a welcome addition. Thanks for the image. Let me know if you need anything else customized.

I've noticed my wheel has been disappearing as well after letting BigBox run all day. This just started with 11.6. Wasn't sure if it was my theme, or maybe a recent update with the Community Theme Creator that I edited my theme with, or maybe the last Launchbox update. Sorry, I'm not much help narrowing it down, LOL. Just reporting.

Thank you Jason and y2guru. I looked into changing the font scaling myself by hand, but I was a little lost when I looked into it. That's why I love the Theme Creator so much. I do appreciate everything you guys do. Sorry if my comment sounded demanding or accusatory. In defending my position it may have sounded that way, but it wasn't my intent.

Yep. Pinup, Pinball X, and Pinball Y are the major frontend players in virtual pinball. I agree with Jason. Its a big mess to deal with. Maybe he can invest some time in it when he has run out of other ideas for Launchbox/Bigbox.

You're missing the point. For vertically oriented screens, it is broken - with any theme. As you say, "it needs to work, always". It doesn't. If the font simply scaled down in the options view when in vertical mode, we wouldn't need to change anything, eliminating the limited customization you refer to. I challenge you to rotate your monitor vertically, go into portrait mode, and load a theme. Then go into options view. Tell me how you get along with that. Then tell me if vertical theme creators are not going to try to customize that creating more problems.

"Options view is broken ¯\_(ツ)_/¯" Hey man. I experienced the same thing with my vertical theme. At one point @y2guru said he wasn't interested in messing with the options page stuff, but then I think he might have changed his mind about it? I'm not really sure. I asked Faeran for permission to use his options code on my theme and I kind of repurposed it a bit to make it work. Perhaps @Jason Carr could take a look and see if there is a way to scale the font sizes down in the options page while in vertical orientation. As it is now, browsing the *default* options page in vertical orientation is almost impossible. Anyhow. Just wanted to drop by and let you know your theme is coming along nicely. Take care.

Is this something you'd need for all views including the various console views, or just the main view? There are quite a few views I would need to alter, which would be OK, but if you don't use those other views, it would be easier for me to just make the one change. I would likely not release this into the wild and just share it with you unless there is demand for it.
