  1. Thanks for the help! All my Neo Geo CD files are zipped to save space. I removed the unzip files checkbox and my games wouldn't load. So I assume I order to make use of the bios files within the mame folder I would have to unzip the neo geo cd files so that there is no need for that to be checked and then add the mame folder to the mess ini. Is there a way to do it any other way because I have a small amount of space on my drive to play with. I can see the sense in using the mame folder as a bios resource but as you see above it may not be possible. Out of interest, should it be working the way I have it set up at the moment? Is it perhaps the bios files that are the problem? Ok, so I found a bios file called the following channelf.zip and within the archive are these files I've put them into the roms folder with the other bios zips for neo geo cd and now the games launch, however not all of them load properly. with a lot of them I get a green screen with the letters G? in pink , where as with the ones that work I get the green screen then they load load any ideas?
  2. I had already setup SNK Neo Geo CD using Brad's tutorial and my ini looks a little different to the details you have in your guide. So with your help and suggestions from DOS76 I've done the following. (See pictures) Roms for both systems are in the games folder in the LB root, and bios files are in the mess roms folder. I'm wondering if the bios files need to be edited to be recognised. Can you guys see what I've done wrong? Neo Geo CD work just fine, Fairchild won't run.
  3. So I've got the emulator up and running and have setup the controls to use my xbox 360 controller. Does the setup look correct? I was worried that it was in the wrong section, but it seems to work. Also any setting I should be tweeking for those who have set Atari ST with Steem up. I also skipped telling Steem where my games were and also setting up a hard drive. Is this necessary to configure or can I just leave it as is?
  4. What TOS version yields the most compatability
  5. Fantastic, thanks a lot!!
  6. I'd like to give mess a go. Is it just a question of adding the roms and the emulator and you are good to go or is there more to it? where do the bios files go and do they need to be named a certain way? I put all my roms in the LB usually games folder, except for FBA where it was suggested putting the roms in the emulator folder.
  7. Having been part of the community for a while now I've talked to many people and everyone has different preferences with regards to what systems, artwork, and the number of roms they add. Some like no missing artwork, others don't mind. It got me thinking about some of the artwork I've found on google to fill in some of the gaps I've got in my games list.. I'm sure the goal is to get the LB database as complete as possible in the long run. So how can we contribute/upload content and are there certain image sizes that have to be adhered to, for things like clear logos, box
  8. So is there a healthy number of tables ported over to VP10 or are the majority of the tables on VP9. I just want to put together a collection of good tables, so if I stick with vp10 will I miss out on some classics?
  9. So you need this to run STX games but some may not be playable due to copy protection
  10. Does the pasti.dll go in with the roms or into the emulator folder
  11. Awesome, I assume this is something to do with copy protection I recall
  12. I saw somewhere on the forums that someone was running the Fairchild system through Retroarch using the mess_libretro.dll core. I've got a nightly build of Retroarch dated 11.11.2016 and it appears that the core is not there, just the mess2014_libretro.dll core is available. I've tried the 2014 core but it doesn't work, mess standalone also doesn't run the games. I wonder why the core that I mentioned first is no longer there? Any ideas? Do I perhaps need command line parameters added for the games to run
  13. Thank you for answering all my questions! Hopefully the setup of the emulator for c64 will be straight forward if not I'll give you a shout
  14. Thank you for the help
  15. I've had some useful hints from Zombeaver regarding Atari ST emulation, but wondered what file formats I should be aiming for, at the moment my collection consists of mainly .st, .msa, and .stx files. Also, the steem SSE version doesn't seem to have any info on the website about supported file type? It seems from having a quick at the following website http://ataristeven.exxoshost.co.uk/Steem.htm that you need the original steem emulator and that you add the sse edition files to that folder. Is this correct. Zombeaver, did you mention in a post that to deal with multi disk games that you need to add a command line parameter, oh and are you using the second version from the above website
  16. I read that some of you guys have added Visual pinball to Launchbox without incident and there is no need for any command line parameters. I wondered what version of VP you used as there seems to be countless tables for different versions. What version of VP would you suggest. I have a collection of vp 1-7,8, 9, and 9x tables.
  17. I was a ZX Spectrum user and I believe it was somewhat cheaper than the C64 if memory serves. I just remember looking at the graphics and wanting one. I did however get my taste of a commodore machine owning both Amiga and Atari 16 bit machines. In my mind the best era for gaming. Changing the subject, is the Vic 20 worth emulating? Sorry again for a rather fragmented post but could I just add two more question... When adding the C64 roms do they have to be unrared and not in folders? 'When Ive added rom in the past that are say on two disks I've scanned both roms during the import process. Some emulators will find the second disk without trouble. What you are saying is that once all the multi disk games are imported you run the game from disk 1 and then use F4 to mount the disk I assume? Oooops, one more I believe that your preferred file type .g64 but there are some games that are in the tape format, is it advisable to separate then like brad does in his video for testing purposes. I promise this is the last one Some collections have over 8k of games and it appears they are all original and not duplicates, was there really that many games if you factor in public domain stuff? I guess that was the era of the bedroom coders
  18. So that version is essential steem with all the same functions but updated for newer OS's? http://steem.atari.st/download.htm that's the original version I assume? Is this the Version of CCS64 ok, it seems that the official site is broken http://www.dosgamers.com/commodore-64/ccs64-c64-emulator Official site http://www.ccs64.com/ (error when loading)

  20. A little of topic but you mention stem as an emulator for Atari ST, I see it's most recent version runs on XP and below so I assume you need to run it in compatibility mode?
  21. Zombiebeaver talks about CCS64 being a good emulator for Commodore 64, but I'm wondering from those who have used it, how does it deal with multi disk games and how should they be added to launch box? I ask because I had problems previously with multi disk Atari st games using hitari and the emulator just didn't seem to find the next disk even though it was right there in the folder. I just got stuck on an insert disk screen. Looking forward to getting this up and running soon cheers guys
  22. Thank you brad I'll give that one a go, although it will look somewhat different from my other artwork it will look a thousand times better than the one I have without a clear background cheers
  23. I followed Brads tutorial to setup FBA and scraped as Arcade and as you would expect the Arcade clear logo was downloaded. I've looked on the Hyperspin ftp and around emu moview ftp and the only thing I could find that looked ok was the artwork that you see in the picture below. Does anyone have a FBA clear logo that they can send my way or perhaps someone with experience with art programs could quickly covert the image I have to a clear logo, because I have no idea how to do it and quite frankly I suck at art Hope someone can help??
  24. Thank you for the help! Do I include the quotations as well ?
  25. I imported my mame collection and rather than have my roms in the emulator folder I've put them in the Launchbox games folder and have added the rom path to the mame ini I'm just adding HBMAME as a custom platform and scrapping as Arcade. Do I need to add another rom path to the mame ini for HBMAME? If that is the case do I type the rom path again below my original entry like my example below copied from the ini rompath. D:\ Launchbox\Games\MAME rompath D:\Launchbox\Games\HBMAME hashpath. hash IM SORRY BUT APPEAR TO HAVE POSTED MULTIPLE TIMES
