Also I can't swear by how these files are named...so being able to rename the files according to whatever conventions needed would be awesome...
Is RomCenter still a good choice for most of this? -
I know some of my sets are complete...however some may or may not be...I google for lists and they rarely agree...some include non-English, some include hacks, etc..
What is the best ALL IN ONE emulation rom / database software to load a folder of games and get a strong idea of the percentage of completion of your collection...I used to use various rom database sofware, but they seem all out of date now...
Any tips about good software to use (with console, portable, arcade (less worried about),.would be appreciated, thanks! -
Aargh, I just realized all of my PS2 games will not launch....I changed the games to launch LaunchBoxPCSX2.exe instead as advised and I get a 'loading generic profile' screen (see pic) and then the following error about unexpected parameter, then it fails to launch the emulator...
To fix it and launch a game, I unchecked the box to load Customs shows in the last image I attached here, but I don't want to do this individually for the many, many PS2 games I have...I cannot move the games into the PCSX2 folder, they are in the launchbox\games\ps2 folder...
How can I uncheck this option in bulk or otherwise fix this error with all my other games that have the check marked? Any help appreciated!

did you ever try running LB in a brand new admin user account? i don't remember if you posted that you tried it or not.
No, I was ready to try that... and I'm hesitant to post this for dread of it somehow still not being true...
But **IT IS FIXED!!** **GLORIOUS!**
I did these things last, in combination; the last one being doubtful fixing it, but I include it since I did it...maybe this will help someone!
1. Ran FREE CCcleaner, including it's registry cleaner (which I would never normally do)
2. Reset my BIOS to default CPU/clock settings...it WAS NOT OVERCLOCKED, I was still at stock 3.4ghz speed, but may have add increased memory/voltage set in one place anyways...forced AUTO to all.
3. Installed the latest INF/chip-set drivers for my motherboard...couldn't tell if it updates or just replaced what was there...
4. Updated by Nividia driver...it was only 1mo old however.
Been running stable for hr now, importing, playing...YAY!
Thanks for all the help guys, the 'update your drivers' comment gave me the idea to do all this...appreciated!- 1

I have an idea. I'm not being flippant either. Disable your screensaver. I never have a screensaver running. Worth a try. It might be interfering with something.
(If that works, I'll have your username. K thx) ;-) ;-)
LOL you will need to stick with your own username....my screen saver is already disabled :-D

Good point I'll try that :-)
-
Do I just replace the main Launchbox.exe to try an older version or is it more involved?

ohh, try both, it's easy enough to try diff LB versions. if it only happens in 7.11, that really points to a LB bug. i wonder if the 7.11 .NET change had anything to do with it? I think Jason mentioned using the newer .NET in the next version, so you might try the Beta that is currently out now.
I'm on it now..I got that update, same issue though with it :-(

Maybe a stupid question but are all your drivers up to date ?
Yes they should be, but I'll double check them now...

so, does that mean if you roll back to an earlier LB version, you don't have any issue?
edit: use the force Luke...think back to what changed just before you started having issues...

Yes it was fine in a version before...perhaps 7.7 or 7.8...I wish I could remember which one...

if your desktop is a little dated, maybe now you have good reason to UPGRADE!!
Actually it's not really...it's a core i5 3.4ghz (not the old generation one), 8GB DDR3 memory...SSD OS drive...mid level Nvidia cart (GT 740), it is custom built...I always custom build my PCs...maybe I'll try a different motherboard next time...but I don't thik it's the core that's the issue because I was using Launchbox for months before with this same MB/CPU/RAM/HDD without issues...
I'll probably boot to safe mode and strip everything off of it I can, to see if/when it happens.
Really appreciate you sticking it out and trying to help ckp (and everyone) -
The only exception is some games I have that are ISO, but they are also labeled (TGX) (PSN), turb-graphix ports I guess...they don't load in PPSSPP, they just saying LOADING GAME... on bottom right corner and stick there...but I'm okay with that, most work fine...apparently most of these isos were PSN games for the PSP, so it worked out :-)
-
Retroarch is fine for me, using BIN and CUE's at least... for ISO's, PPSSPP is working just fine. Thanks anyways.

I did that...it opens, it just loads all games with no video (black)...I've tried all the open GL plugins, reduced resolution to 800x600, even tried to DL a d3D plugin, same issue...
some games (most?) when they load give the controller config on the top right (showing the PS1 controller graphic), but that is it...tried all compatibility modes, tried running as admin, tried resetting it up, etc.. -
Yes it fails on everything I try it on....I've used it in the past before, just not with this computer....I tried removing teamviewer which was said to cause some issues with it, and nothing works...no biggie, all these games work in PPSSSPP, I play my regular PSX games through Retroarch. (they are all bin/cude games).
Thanks,
-
I just realized that these ISO's load fine in PPSSPP, I guess they are intended for the PSP...silly me!
-
I'm using Retroarch / Beetle PSX, and it plays my bin/cue (loading cue) files fine...but loads black on these ISO games...I tried creating a cue file using isobuster, but it just crashes the emulator when I load them...
Is there way to batch create all the cue files I need for these ISO games? for that matter how do I create one that works with my emulator? EPSXE won't work with windows 81, I've tried all fixes I could find to no avail.
Thanks for any help! -
Possibly...
my collection is compressed but only playable formats when so, takes up 8TB...notices excessive caching too, but dealing with a bigger crash error for now.
-
Interested in this too.... how big is your collection?
-
So I played around with my 8 TB drive LB collection on my laptop last night, it was slower than my desktop....normal....but also had moments of some interesting lag/hourglasses that occurred. (thought it was going to crash a few times) and one time it may have closed without any error, just suddenly not open, but that was a bit ambiguous what happened there...overall it was still going on strong, it never crashed...so my portable LB collection appears to be (mostly) fine at least...
Damn desktop...

Or something similar to the above. Unfortunately that doesn't really help us solve this, especially since I'm not going to be able to ever replicate it without having your specific hardware. Jason, you've had no other reports of this crash exactly?... or you have? I hate this CLR file now...worst DLL on my computer, LOL

@cleverest I'm sorry to hear about those issues. I think @lordmonkus has probably done as good of a job as possible trying to troubleshoot it; seems like a really nasty issue. The error message that I saw a page or two back is indeed an error that I have on my list to fix, but it doesn't crash LaunchBox; it just comes up on very rare occasions for certain people, so it's most likely unrelated. As best as I can tell, we're probably dealing with one of the following:
- A .NET bug that is somehow specific to your hardware or drivers
- A hardware issue
- A driver issue
Or something similar to the above. Unfortunately that doesn't really help us solve this, especially since I'm not going to be able to ever replicate it without having your specific hardware. So we're pretty much up a creek here, sadly. I wish I had a solution but I'm not sure what we could do to solve it.
Thank you for the response on this Jason...it really bums me out, I want to upgrade my LB license to a lifetime from a 1yr premium, but I have to wait until this issue is no longer occurring of course. it gets so frustrating I just stop using it after 1-2 times...
I'm going to try to run my 8 TB collection (external hard drive) tonight on my laptop tonight and see what it does...but given the crash happens on a flash drive with almost no roms on it on my desktop only...it seems obvious it is one of the things you mentioned...I guess I need to take this thing apart piece by piece to fix it until I can replace my computer...I love launchbox so much, this really sucks, but of course, I know it's not your software!- 1

You've tried running the same LB folder on another computer with no issues.
Good summary! Just to clarify though, I haven't tried my main 8 TB collection on another computer yet...that test will be tonight....curious if it will crash or not...I hope not, would rather not have the collection/rive me the issue come to think of it...thanks so much for the help, I'll post my results... :-)
boat load of roms / games - no idea if I have full sets for some, software to help?

I have some of those... my Atari and older Nintendo stuff, but I may have more...is there a rom software that will scan my folder and let me know?
