I really like this theme but is there a chance you could make it so it works properly with a Arcade1Up 1280x960 monitor? 4:3?
If there is a technical issue could you not just make a CoinUp 4:3 version?
I don't currently have plans to do something like this, but if anyone wants to give it a go, I'm all for it.

Theme don't play gameplay videos anymore after latest launchbox update.
For the most part a theme itself cannot make or break a function of Big Box.
It's possible you just need to turn off background video playback under:
Options > Videos > Use Game Background Videos... and Use Platform Background VIdeos...

Oh ok, just went through the few views available, and one was quicker to fade-in the details, but still pretty slow to me. Is there any way you could share the CTC files that could allow us to edit that speed? or maybe add one more view to it? If it's too much of a hassle then no worries. Just curious. Thanks.
I don't think a new view can be added to that view unfortunately, so one of them would have to be edited.
From what I remember there would need to be a bunch of changes to accommodate how fast you want it, maybe changing 5-10 storyboards to make it work a bit faster.
It would actually be easier to jump into one of the view's code and make that change vs. doing it in the CTC since the version of the CTC used is old enough that loading the files into the newer versions would break a bunch of stuff.

Could you release a version with a quicker speed of the game transition from selection, to displaying all of the details of the game? I think you did this for the first version as well way back. It is the first thing I noticed again lol. Sorry.
There definitely should be that view still in there. I don't think it's the primary view, so just change the views until you find the one you are looking for (I feel like there's 3 or 4 game views available)

Ohhhh ok gotcha. so for platforms and Playlist and categories though, we can still use all the images we already made for those right? it'll just be the games that are put together on the fly?
yup, that sounds right

@faeran Didn't you have a second version of this theme that put together the banners using image assets on the fly?
That's the version that's live right now.

Absolutely love this theme! Is it possible to put a custom image as a background beneath the games, to replace the plain grey? I like the background of the Default theme (looks like a grey rubber pressure pad or something - with the black dots) - this would look awesome combined with Big Details.
Wouldn't be too tough. I don't think I'll do it for the base theme, but PM me and I could probably cook something up for you.

I LOVE this theme, but is there some way to change the platform marquee image? I have designed quite a few platform marquee's that I would like to use.
This is what is displayed on the "platform" view
The idea is that I would design marquee's that match Banner Image. Here is an example of a marquee that I would like to use with bannerbox:
I want the image to fill the 2nd screen (marquee)
If I'm remembering correctly, the theme doesn't actually have a marquee view, so it would fall back to using the default one.
I believe the default platform marquee view displays the platform's banner image, and this theme takes the banner image type and uses theme specific ones that look like that. I could see why a theme specific platform marquee view would be handy to have here. I'll add it to my list and maybe can tackle this at some point. Might require some theme trickery to get custom banners to work correctly, but could definitely be done.
If you can, send me a PM with any platform marquees that you've created and I can use those to build the view out.

Great theme, was wondering if the old tutorial to add our games banners still viable? Looks like the creator is a lot more different now.
The theme should have auto-generated game banners, so no need to create special banners for games.
Platform banners, can be added in the same way.

I just noticed something else. My image groups don't work with this theme. Again, changing theme makes it a non issue.
I have my priorities set to show the cabinets in the screenshot section, although they don't appear with this theme. They don't appear if I refresh the images neither, the only way I've got them to show is by having the game selected, going to Menu > Tools > Options and clicking ok. Although that's only temporary, as if I change game and then click back on the game, the images are gone again.
That's interesting. Themes cannot directly influence what shows up in the carousel, so that's very strange. There's absolutely no code in the theme itself other than saying "show image carousel here", and LaunchBox itself takes care of the rest.
I did a quick test and, of course arcade cabinets show up in the carousel on my end, so if I had to make a guess, it's probably related to the exact same file access issue that we kind of side-stepped with that theme change.

Here's one last try. If this doesn't work, you may unfortunately have to deal with your file access issues, whatever they are. Well, if this one doesn't work I could strip part of the theme out for you and it would most likely work. You just wouldn't be able to update the theme in the future if I ever end up releasing an update for it.

No difference using them files. It's strange, I can install and use your other themes Neptune and Default Plus and no errors come up. The error shows up when I first switch between platforms. Once I close it, it's fine until I switch platforms again.
If it couldn't access the default graphic, wouldn't that also be the case for all the other themes in the same location?
Only for themes that require a theme specific image to be called. Not a lot of LaunchBox themes have that tbh, so it's very likely you would never run into this issue except for Big Details.
Was the error exactly the same for you, or different? Maybe you can take a screenshot.

Tried both ways. Other themes seem to work without error.
Interesting. Just from how themes fundamentally work, they don't determine file access issues. I did a quick test on a build that hadn't downloaded the theme before, and seemed to work just fine.
My guess is this. The line it's referring to in the error is the default background graphic. The theme is trying to display an image from a specific location, and Windows is telling you that access to that location is denied (for whatever reason). If you want to troubleshoot reasons why this could be let me know, as they are plenty, and it's something you'd have to investigate on your side.
I've made a quick change to how it's accessing that file in the following 2 files. I'm curious if it makes any difference if you copy and paste these into your LaunchBox\LBThemes\Big Details\Views folder, and then open LaunchBox.

I would like to start by saying this is my fav theme. Thank you so much for making this! I have a few requests.
1. Is it possible to do a full screen wall without showing any meta data like Aeon in Kodi? If not is it possible to "hide" the metadata and center the cover art?
2. Is it possible to get a alphabetical jump/skip that pops up on the far right like you get with the Aeon theme in Kodi?
Glad you liked this proof of concept theme I made all these years ago. The answer to your questions is yes to both, it would just require someone to edit the theme code to accommodate what you are after.
At the moment, I'm a bit busy to circle back to this theme right now, but if you wanted to dive into the code, or if anyone else did, I could attempt to help to get to where you need to go.

Really like this theme, great work! Is there any way to stop it showing a year above the game count when viewing platform banners after the fade ? Showing a year doesn't seem to make sense for a whole playlist / platform collection.
It's been a long time since I worked on this theme, but there's always a way if you can dive into the code and make the change.

Is there a way to offset the background image by a certain percentage upward? Usually the most important part of an image is always about 1/3 from the top (rule of thirds); not the direct top, middle, or bottom.
Yeah maybe. I'll give it a shot. I did play with the different alignments before, but it really made no difference in where that background image was placed. It was always equally as bad (or good depending on how you want to look at it) across a user's library on average.
I'll give it a shot though.

How do I stop the cover art coming up as the first image in the over view? it looks incredibly ugly having A 3D Box or a front box there, the next image next to it is always a screenshot, which takes up the room much nicer and looks so much better? thank you.
This seems more like a generic LaunchBox question, but you'll need to stop showing 3D Models in the game details pane. Go into Tools > Options > Visuals > Game Details, and uncheck Show 3D Model.

Hi, really like the theme!
I realize this is a remix of the Pezley 4:3 theme but wondering if there are any plans to get your (upgraded) version in a 4:3 aspect ratio. Not sure if there are any plans and/or if I could do myself in the theme builder but I don't see project files.
Any info or suggestions would be appreciated!
I believe the latest version of this theme was self-coded so I could maximize the performance out of it and smooth out some edges.
If anyone wants to take the theme and code a 4:3 version, that would be great. For now, I don't currently have plans to do so, but I'll keep it in the back of my mind.

The Playstation consoles background color's are not propagating because in the file they referred to as PlayStation with capital S when it needs to be Playstation lowercase s in the resource dictionary.
Thanks, looks like a few were missed on the game page. This is fixed on the forums, and soon to be fixed in the theme manager.

This is a really incredible theme. I love that it does a good job of creating cover snaps even for your non-standard categories which fit the theme. There's only ONE MAJOR PROBLEM that I have, and it prevents me from using this as my primary theme - I can't find any way to actually play my game videos in the games list view. Please please please allow the text list view to play the videos that are available for each game in the list you're viewing - it makes a huge difference! Right now it only shows the cover photo/box art.
If I could just have my videos, this would be my #1 theme - absolutely beautiful.
I do not disagree with this. I should probably make some time to create a view that includes videos. I'll add it to my list to take a look at at some point.

Apologies for the thread necro but I figure this would be a good place to ask.
The latest version of the them automatically generates the banners for you but if I still wanted to create banners for the individual games by hand, do the images still go in the Custom Images folder? Would I still need to give them a name that corresponds to their Metadata number and what would I need to do if I've got a game that isn't in the Metadata yet?
Thanks in advance for any answers to these. It's been a long while, so I can't remember if the latest version leaves in support for custom game banners. If it does, then the folder the images get placed in wouldn't have changed.
I can't quite remember if the system will also fall back to the name of the game. So if there's no file with the DBID, then it may check for a file that's the primary name of the game.

@faeran Really sorry to revive this old thread, but (I think) I recall that you designed the latest default theme for BigBox, which I find to be one of the best of them all. I'm trying to center the scrolling in the TextListView.xaml without any success. I tried to add grila's code and use this plugin but wasn't able to get it working. Coincidentally, I noticed that the same plugin was already there in the folder for this theme, which I'm assuming had some sort of similar purpose? If you can offer any help that would be really appreciated!
Not at the computer right now, but there's a behavior that's built into BigBox that you can use to accomplish this. It should be in the documentation.

Thanks. Yes I put this in both the description and the changelog. This version is also uploaded to the Theme Manager, but will only be present for users on 13.22-beta-4 or above. I would recommend user the Big Box Theme Manager to install this theme.
