  1. I had BigBox in my startup folder before, but that way I wasn't able to fully hide any trace of windows. Now running it as shell and also using InstantSheller program it's all black until the BigBox startup vid.
  2. Read somewhere that running as admin would prevent running into issues sometimes. But I must have read it wrong or it was just bad advise. All seems to be running fine and you're right I don't need to run in as admin. Thanks!
  3. Usually I just call my dad if anything needs to be done but I really wanted to do it all myself this time. I have never build anything or did any wood working before, it took me a couple of months to build with a lot of trial and error, but in the end I'm very happy with how it turned out! sketchup_familycade.skp
  4. Hi, Was wondering if any of you have had this issue before? I'm on the latest windows 10 version and I have managed to hide windows and boot into BigBox! But here is the problem, if I change bigbox.exe properties to run as administrator it will NOT start as windows shell, I just get a black screen cause no shell is loaded. When I remove the run as admin checkbox it works fine! Its not a big issue as it is working this way, but was wondering if any of you have any idea what this is about? Also when exiting BigBox was able to run a batch file that start explorer and this restored the taskbar but this also doesn't work anymore, now I just get an file explorer window. I have to change the registry back to explorer.exe and log off/on again to get back. Any of you have better solutions which can make it less of a hassle? Thanks, Kevin
  5. Thanks, that is some solid advise... for the CD based systems I think I'am going to do the same. Just import what I know and maybe search online for 'best of...'-type list and import those as well!
  6. Yes, using nes and snes were bad examples . Unfortunately I didn't have the budget for 8TB, 2TB will have to do for now... all the 8/16bit stuff I could just import all but the closer I get to the more recent stuff, hard choices will have to be made I have MAME plus CHD set, which is good for 500GB alone. But free space aside, I was just wondering how most of you have set it up. I could import all which will also means I have to scroll through 2500+ games for one console alone in some cases probably even more. And I get it, at the end of the day it is about personal preference. But good advise is always welcemed. But, I do like what @neil9000 said, sounds like a very good option. I Also hadn't even thought about the USA games being 60fps... so it makes a lot of sense!
  7. Hi Guys, First of all I'm just starting out, so still a lot to learn, but love bigbox, it's amazing and the tutorials help immensely! Was wondering how you all go about organizing roms and deciding what to import? Since I'm just getting into things I like to have a good setup from the get-go. Right now I have all roms in the appropriate folders like Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Sega Genesis and so on. But within these folders I have rom versions from usa, europe, japan. Some games are region specific single games but a lot of games are just the same game only different region. So what do you guys do? Split these sets into regions separate the roms? Keep preferred region get rid of the others? Or just import all since launchbox combines the roms with the same name, but then you're wasting a lot of space on the same game multiple times. Or do you just add your preferred region and add region specific games on top? Like to hear your thoughts before I get to far in, now i'm still able to make changes without having to do too much work Many thanks,
  8. Okay thx! Still have a lot to learn about the community, some of the things are really confusing but all the tutorials help a lot! Gonna look into upgrading to Win10, want things to be as optimal as they can be! About the freezing, you're probably right. Now I still have the keyb and mouse connected because I am still working on it. Hopefully once I am done it won't happen anymore. I also read about changing the shell from explorer to BigBox, that would definitely fix any focussing issues I am guessing!
  9. Hi, I'm fairly new to the whole arcade/emu scene but I was wondering what the best windows version is for running launchbox and emu's? Windows 7 or 10? I'm currently running win7 on: Asus H81M-K motherboard Intel Pentium G3258 - 3.2 GHz 8GB ram Palit GeForce GTX 750Ti StormX OC (2GB GDDR5) 22'' Ilyama lcd Monitor 128gb ssd (windows) and 2TB hdd for roms/emu/bigbox/... Also had some BigBox performance issues but turned out it was the BigCouch Theme that was causing troubles for me. Now using the new CityHunter Theme which mostly runs real smooth. Although sometimes it totally freezes at least thats what it looks like, when I hit the windows key on the keyboard and then back into to BigBox it works again. Maybe the following question is for this forum although all of you must have a ton of experience . MAME runs fine with most games but when playing Street Fighter 2, Mortal Kombat or even Final Fight it performs poorly. It runs around 70% and audio stutters. I'm only getting it to run around 100% by enabling "auto skip frames", audio improves but still not great. Does anybody has any advise for me? Many Thanks, newbie Kevin
