  1. I was going to use MAME for arcade etc, but a standalone MESS for consoles - also essentially the exact config @SentaiBrad outlines in the video, so I'm happy with it that way
  2. Hard to tell... given every site pages works fine and the redirect is coming off google's search for the front page I highly doubt the passwords etc are compromised. Would be a different story if the site itself was hacked, but it's completely in tact.
  3. Hey guys, got an odd issue in MESS that I can't find an obvious answer to, mostly due to how convoluted MESS is as a piece of software. It's worth noting straight up that I've installed and configured MESS exactly as the Launchbox youtube video on it shows to. So... the problem! I'm using MESS to run Atari 2600, 5200, 7800, Lynx, and the ColecoVision - and all of them load etc just fine, however my mapped controls in MESS (using a wired xbox360 controller FYI) only work on the Atari 7800 and the Lynx. The other 3 systems (2600, 5200, ColecoVision) don't respond to any button presses etc. The ROMs load and work etc, but my input mappings do nothing! My natural assumption is that I need a custom config for those systems, but the doco and articles on MESS control configs are archaic at best... any of you fine folk able to assist me with how I get controls working for these systems? Many thanks in advance!
  4. I get the same thing from Google search but going straight to http://emumovies.com/ works fine. Guessing they've had their DNS breached....
  5. Let's here it for Aussie bands from the 90's and 00's!
  6. I stopped bothering when retro gaming became a commodity!
  7. I built my arcade a number of years ago (5 or 6...) and the way to do it then was keyboard emulator to arcade button/joysticks. I made a 4 player cabinet with 8 buttons + coin in + start per player. Add the joystick movements to that it's more than half a full keyboard in key mappings which was a nightmare! I also didn't provision anything for power on / off which is a little annoying (only turning on... turning off I just exit the software and it shuts down the PC). Given I've been through it before and now notice what I didn't do the way I wanted... I would suggest: Space for AimTrak censor bar (if you want light gun games) Space for a Spinner (if you want Missle Command type games) Space for a Trackball (if you want golf games etc) Power on (if you shell Launchbox then power off will take care of itself if you have keys configured to shut the software) Controller ports (something I found was I only did arcade controls, then emulated N64 and PS1 etc, which don't work well at all without analogue joysticks... so USB ports on the cabinet exterior would have been awesome) Volume I've never had an issue with as mine outputs to HDMI so TV remote is fine for volume control rather than building it into the cabinet. My cab also runs HyperSpin which has it's own hotkeys for exiting emulators and a menu to exit the software, as long as you have this equivalent in LaunchBox it should be fine. Note: I've only just started with configuring LB for the first time and haven't progressed to setting up BigBox yet.
  8. I'm not really picky about the 'perfect' emulation, and honestly haven't played with it enough... but I use the mupen64 core in Retroarch and thus far I haven't found anything I dislike.... but as I said, I don't play with it nearly enough.
  9. haha thanks man Wife bought it for me two Christmases ago She's a keeper!
  10. Interested to hear how you go with PS1 compatibility.... if it holds up like a gcon for point blanks and time crisis games I'll totally get one.
  11. Ta It's the oxmox promo statue from the Twilight Princess release. Pretty rare.. mine is a bit beaten up an missing some things, but I found it in a hoarders shed... he'd got it from another local who'd had it in his garage in pieces for a few years. No idea where it originally came from or how it managed to pass through the hands of 2 people who had no idea what it was, but I scored it for a pretty decent price Rarely ever see them, let alone find them in the wild!
  12. So I picked up this Skee-ball Super Shot game ridiculously cheap.... not working, and it's had a hard life - but I love basketball and gaming projects so I got my electronics mate around and we started going through it with a fine tooth comb. All in all it's pretty much rooted unless I start swapping parts with another identical machine which is near impossible where I live. So we're just going build a whole new game! The plan so far is to replace everything except the motor with an Arduino and other boards (including a new DMD) and then custom write a new game and rules! He's taking on the electronics build while I will be refurbishing the cabinet with a fresh black/white/blue/red Team USA / Dream Team theme. We're only at the initial strip down and planning stage, but I thought I'd make a post and get peoples opinions and show progress shots as we go along.
  13. Hey guys, new to the community and loving it Thought I would show off my games room and machines! First of all, here is my HyperSpin arcade... built about 5 years ago and rarely updated these days... Then I've got my 1992 Data East Jurassic Park pinball... both of these things live inside the house because my wife is amazingly awesome about all my gaming stuff (despite not being a gamer herself). Then there's the games room (not including modern consoles like the Nintendo Switch and the XBOX1... they live inside as well). I actually sold off about 1/3 of my collection as I was in a much smaller house at the time and bought Everdrives for all the consoles I could, so anything from NES/SNES/N64/SMS/Mega Drive (I'm Aussie) that wasn't AAA or my own from childhood got sold. I love emulation and am forever building another 'game machine' in one way or another.. but I love collecting as well. Anyone else got some game rooms to show off? p.s. For anyone as mental about Zelda as I am... I made this walkthrough for a BOTW pre-release play (Which I won!)
  14. Thanks guys, given me some good ideas on what else to setup?
  15. Damn, that's a hell of a list @Styphelus! On top of what I currently have I also need to add the assorted Pinball software and Steam, and I'm hanging for an importer for WineXo and eXoDOS as I've got this sitting here too. Beyond that I need to go searching for any other systems as I don't have the files for them. GameCube really interests me, but not Wii and Wii U etc.. this PC's purpose is to have USB xbox360 controllers plugged into it and sit in my office for my team to play on in breaks, so I don't need anything as elaborate as motion controls. So I'm kinda assuming there's no point me chasing down like ZX Spectrum and C64 stuff either, as I don't plan on having a keyboard connected to this thing either unless it's really worth it.
  16. How do you find Visual Pinball - presumably on a regular screen? Prior to startig with Launchbox, this PC was actually the guts of a virtual pinball cabinet I was making and was loaded with VP and FP tables, as well as PinballFX2 adn TBA from Steam.... I gave up because I couldn't be bothered building a custom pinball shell, and I live very enarby Arcooda who have a professional virtual pinball arcade due for release this year so I figure I'd rather just buy one of them than constantly re-do all the f*cking around it takes to setup a virtual pinball of my own (for anyone that's considering it, to do it really nicely there is a metric ass-load of customization you need to do for the displays and every individual table you download, not to mention creating your own video media etc). Anyway.... I'm guessing putting it in LB essentially just launches it in a pretty way to play it 'as it was made' for a desktop?
  17. Wow, cool idea! How do you find the browsing and stuff with a controller?... do you use an onscreen keyboard?
  18. Very nice man! You've obviously got a bone for Megaman, and some of those boxed consoles are very nice indeed. I 'was' a big collector, and now I just have a big collection... lol, I'll try and post up some pics in a thread over the weekend.
  19. How interesting... I've toyed with the idea of buying AimTrak's for years and just never pulled the trigger (so to speak... ). I've heard they're not particularly high quality, however I was talking to someone who's lived and breathed the world of Arcade's for 20+ years, so he's used to the kind of products in TimeZone etc, built to take a battering from the general public. I'm interested to know how you get on with the AimTrak as a product....
  20. Hey guys, I'm curious as to what systems every has configured in Launchbox! Just about everyone has the classics like NES, SNES, Master System, etc... and there's plenty of tutorials for some more obscure or older systems - but I'm curious as to what you guys actually bother configuring and have collections for. Personally I have the below list, which is a bit more expansive than anyone really NEEDS, as there's literally thousands of titles that are never going to get a play - but that doesn't stop me from wanting more What do you guys have? A few more than I have but don't have configured are things like eXoDOS, WineXo, and Xbox (which can't be emulated if I'm correct? I just have the game images). 3DO 32X Atari 2600 Atari 5200 Atari 7800 Atari Jaguar Atari Lynx Bandai Wonderswan Colour Colecovision Laserdisc MAME Neo Geo Neo Geo Pocket Colour Nintendo64 Nintendo DS Nintendo Entertainment System Nintendo Gameboy Nintendo Game Boy Advanced Nintendo Game Boy Colour Nintendo Virtual Boy Philips CD-i Sega CD 32X Sega Dreamcast Sega Game Gear Sega Genesis Sega Master System Sega Saturn Sony Playstation Sony Playstation 2 Sony PSP Super Nintendo Turbografx-16 Zinc
  21. I like OBS for free software, but mostly use D3DGear for desktop/game capture as I have a paid license. For consoles I cap with a Roxio GameCapture Pro device, and edit with the Roxio editing software that comes with it It's not amazing, but it's simple, and again licensed so I don't need to worry about cracking (or buying....) a vegas or premier type solution.
  22. Going back to an earlier question / point... You use a Windows PC with Luanchbox, and then use InstantSheller to hide the Windows OS. https://www.gameex.com/instant-sheller-and-shelling-guide/ I have an arcade I built about 6 years ago on Windows 7 running HyperSpin, shelled with InstantSheller so when I turn it on it loads straight to HyperSpin, and when I close it the PC shut's down. I'm currently configuring a new PC completely for the purpose of LaunchBox and plan on shelling it with InstantSheller once it's fully configured.
