  1. Since Xarcade default option is to replicate a keyboard you want to map inside BigBox under the Keyboard Automation. In the BB settings menu look inside the Keyboard Automation and map the option for "Close Active Window"

For Mame: Just launch mame.exe without a game and click on "Configure Options. Then go to >General Inputs > User Interface and map the option for  "UI Cancel"

Hey great theme!  I noticed on the preview video that when you are selecting games, it is a wheel with the clear logos of each game. However, I cannot get it to do that, instead it is just a list of games that are listed vertically (no wheel or clear logos). The only clear logo and wheel is when I select platforms. Is there a way to change this in the settings? I have searched but cannot figure it out.

    thanks.

You may be in the Text List View. You would need to change to one of the views that support clear logos.

Best way to do this is go to BB settings and either in the keyboard mapper or controller mapping section bind a key to the option for Change View. This way when you are in the actual list of game you can hit that key or button and change the view type in real time and see it change.

This came to my mind a few minutes after i posted my issue, But sadly it is named exactly the same in Launchbox's database.

I can clarify that i'm talking about the NES title named Arkanoid II or Arkanoid II Revenge of doh, But the database justt refers it as Arkanoid II.

My image is not just named after the rom, But also the actual file inside the zip file, My front box cover, The cartridge image and the fanart background image.

Maybe i have to name all of them in Japanese as it is a famicom rom ?, Nah!! i think. But i'm pretty damn clueless at the moment.

In short the only name that matters is how the game is named inside your LB set-up. As mentioned LB does work with rom names. However if you name it after the rom inside the zip and the zip file is a different name that will not work as LB is attaching the image to the game file you have linked and that typically is the zip file name.

I mentioned the drag and drop option and @faeran posted pics of the same steps. I recommend following this option as it will ensure the image is named correctly and place in the correct folder if you select the Screenshot - Gameplay tag.

  4. Is it always the same games that are missing the images?

Game play images go in the \Images\[Platform Name]\Screenshot - Gameplay\ folder. So that is the right spot. You said you name the image after the rom so try naming the image as the game is named in LB. This is the default way LB will name the image. It can read images named after the rom, however I would try the default way and see if there is any change.

Another test would be right click one of those games and edit. Then in the images page drag and drop your image. Select Screenshot - Gameplay as the image type and let LB store and name it correctly. Then test and see if the images show up.

Oh yeah, I'm definitely not criticizing here. Just thought if I could save the images some where in LB I'd do that, but I don't know where they go.

All game images are saved inside the \LaunchBox\Images\[Platform Name] folders. You will see all the specific image type folders. Any image you place in each image type folder needs to be named as the game is named in LB. Just browse around inside the \Images folder and you will quickly see how things should be saved and where.

You can also right click and edit a game directly inside LaunchBox then drag and drop images into the image page. Select the image type you want for it and LB will attach it to the game.

So far the games I tested did not have any issues. I just dont like going through the whole head ache of downloading the latest Mame ROM set (and searching for it) and then searching all over the internet to try and find the CHD files.

I really wish these Mame ROM sets included the CHDs.

Archive and Pleasuredome are useful site (Sorry, against rules to provide actual links to rom sites). I found a 0.225 Mame CHD set in a few seconds on Archive  site. Those would work perfectly. You can also register for that certain pleasuredome site as they always have the latest Mame. However, I think the latest chd is only .232. .233 does not have a download. Could be wrong, been a week or so since I looked.

What is the lastest Mame ROM set?

Mame site. Latest download is 0.233

If I download it, does it mean upgrading my Mame version to the same number and then also deleting my whole current Mame setup and re-importing everything? That is also a head ache as if you select importing images it can take more than a day to import. Would not look forward to that again.

You can delete the platform. Import the new rom set and uncheck media options. LB will attach any existing media to the new import.

OK I seem to be getting somewhere, I found LST files in another download for Noami ROMS from interne archive.

The games I testes so far works, except for a strange message that pops up when the game starts "Please upgrade to MAME romset of expect issues"

Thats strange, does it mean I should not really be using the LST files (as also ETA Prime showed in his video to use LST files)? It seems easier as there is no need for CHD files with them.

Yes. LST files are an outdated form.  You should really be using the roms from the latest or at least as current a Mame rom set as possible.

  8. 8bitdo controllers work fine in Retroarch. Are you using it in X-input mode?

You can use any emulator you want.

After changed theme Unified Refried to Coinops Redux 1.0.5 and apply it as main theme, it now looks like this

    I do wrong somewhere

I will just requote this ⬇️. Do this as mentioned before and you should get where you need.

As @faeran mentioned each theme can support multiple views and it is up to the theme creator what views they make for their theme. The easiest way to see the different views when you have applied the theme is to map a button or a key to the option for "Switch View" in BigBox.

Go into either the keyboard mapping section or controller mapping section (depends on your setup) and find the option for "Switch View" and then map a key/button. You can even map one for "Switch Theme". This allows you to see changes real time.

Then when you apply the theme and as you are viewing your platform list or your game list if you hit that button it will switch the views to the different view layouts the theme creator made and find the one you like.

    Screen Shot 2021-06-30 at 3.38.30 PM.png

Whenever you apply new themes you may not be on a view it supports and the view from the default theme will show. You need to then switch views to find the right one for the theme.

  10. There is a couple files you have to edit. Inside the themes folder go to the \Plugins folder. Right click and edit the two files below.

    1. Ao BigBox Themer dll config file. Edit this one to add the name of your playlist so the theme recognizes it. You will see a section labeled "Playlists" you add it there. Make note that spaces in your playlist name should be filled with an _ in the files name. So for example a playlist called My Playlist would be entered as My_Playlist. (see below for how it would look in the file)

    <add key="Playlist.MY_PLAYLIST" value="My_Playlist" />

    2. Ao BigBox Themer Colors dll config file. Edit this one so you can add the color of choice. Scroll down to the Playlists section and enter you playlist name. Using the example above for My PLaylist you would enter a new line for My Playlist and then the color code. (see below for how it would look in the file)

     <add key="Playlist.MY_PLAYLIST" value="#0000ff" />

  11. Chaos Heat is one of the CHD only games I believe. So it actually does not have a zip. Much like a couple of the Golden Tee Fore games. The coh3002t.zip is the bios. If you used the LB full set Mame importer it does not actually import games at all. It just links the games. Do you have the Chaos Heat chd inside your Mame rom folder and is it in its own folder named chaoshea?

  12. Are you using just two screens? The image of the Back to the Future logo and the "Time Circuit" are on the same monitor? Then the actual Burger Time game and bezel are on the second monitor?

If that is the case then no. Editing the marquee xaml has no affect on the main game monitor.

  13. @TFoster That's a pretty cool idea. What you want to do should be easily doable. You can just edit your marquee xaml to make your canvas size cover down to that area. Then define grids/columns for the little viewable strip and bind the image you want to the area pulling off the game name.

The new beta 2 has messed up the curved wheels views in @CriticalCid Unified theme and @Jason Carr Unified Redux theme to where they no longer curve correctly. Those are the two themes so far I have noticed. The default theme curved wheels views seem normal.

Yup. It starts out curved and the more you move through the wheel in slowly turns into a steep angled line instead of a curved wheel.

That is what im trying to figure out what themes per flatform should be on BB with COINOPS REDUX 1.05

The theme is what i like most, but seems difficult to set up

    It is actually pretty simple.

    1. Download theme and unzip it into the \LaunchBox\Themes folder. (You already did this)

    2. Go into Manage Themes in BigBox. Select CoinOps theme. Select "Apply As Main Theme" and then answer "Yes" when it asks do you want to apply to all platforms and playlists.

    3. Back out of Options page and you should not see CoinOps applied.

If it is not then go into your \Launchbox\Themes folder and make sure the CoinOps theme is not double embedded into a folder. Make sure it is not \Launchbox\Themes\CoinOps\CoinOps\

    2. Options/Views/ Manage Themes/Installed/COINOPS REDUX 1.05 (Should i apply as main theme?/Got the question "would you like to reset all your platforms and playlist to use this theme as well, yes or no"?)

Don't know if i should click yes or no and from there om lost

Well, if you want to use the theme then you click "Yes".

The reason it asks if you want to reset all your platforms and playlists to use this theme is because BB allows you to use different themes per platform.

Hello, ok here’s the issue. I setup lets say dolphin game controller settings for my controller. This I did in launchbox. Now when I go into console mode aka BigBox, I go to play a Wii or GameCube game, I go into the game fine, but when the game is loading, screen might say press A to Start, I press A button, and it doesn’t work. I know I set it up in launchbox, but it won’t hold my game controller config.

My question is, is there a way to make all my emulators in launchbox remember all my config settings that I set? How do I do it? Please help!

All controls for in game are done directly in each emulator you choose to use. Not in LB. Those settings in LB are only for use in LB front end or when moving around in LB Pause Theme menu items.
