Hi there, idumped the whole TDC collection and started again with eXoDOS. Although eXoDOS has its own front end/launcher, Jason and eXo are in the process of making launchbox 100% compatible with eXoDOS and to that respect also the Win3xO collection will benifit from this too, i believe. For now if i wanna play a DOS game i just use the eXoDOS launcher, how long it will take jason and eXo to get it sorted, i dont know, but i can wait

Im not getting the update prompt either......

@Jason Carr i dont know if you will understand this but here goes.... Hi i have stumbled across a possible flaw when using Launchbox with Rocketlauncher. It concerns the way 2 (or more) disc games are handled. Due to RL reading LB's databases to populate its romlists and LB using only disc 1 as the primary rom, disc 2, 3 ,4 etc do not show up in RL. This causes a problem in certain situations. For example... I use RetroArch as my main emulator for PS1 games, now this works through RL no problem, except that i cannot get any multidisc games to launch at all using RA, so for the multidisc games i have used RL's alternate emulator feature. This enable me to select certain games to launch using a different emulator, ePSXE in this case. So using this feature i can launch any multidisc game through LB as long as i launch disc 1 (the primary rom), if i right click and choose a different disc (2, 3, 4 etc) it will try to launch using retroarch. This is due to only disc 1 showing on RL's romlist, so therefore i am unable to set disc2 and so on to use the alternate emulator. I hope ive explained it well enough, its late here and that explanation has just fried my brain Maybe someone whos experienced in RL will understand and elaborate a bit more lol I have attached a video showing the problem... hopefully 2017-03-09_19-31-32.mp4

Right then, i downloaded your examples.zip, the Ikari Warriors vid is fine but Mario Kart is indeed upside down. I have just dwonload the Mario Kart one direct from FTP and yes it is upside down...... So i guess the problem lies with the original file on the server, not only is it upside down but it mirror image too. It seems youve stumbled across somethin quite major here as ive just checked my Hyperspin install from a while back and theres a large chunk of the Wii videos that are rendered upside down/mirrored...... Its time to report this on EmuMovies i guess

BigBox Performance and How to Make it Better
nikeymikey replied to Lordmonkus's topic in Troubleshooting
I've noticed a bit of lag creeping into LB when scrolling through the games list on any given platform, I've run through all the suggested things in the first post and it's still there. It seems as though it's struggling to load the images as I scroll. My specs are i7 2700k 12Gig ram Geforce GTX 960 Windows 10 -
Thanks, ive seen those options but not really understand how they work. Guess ill have a playaround with them and see what happens EDIT :Its cool ive got it now

My platform view is all out of order since b9, im 99% sure it was ok before..... EDIT: Disabling and re-enabling "Show counts" in the options menu rearranges them into the right order.

Hi just a quick question Is there a way to make it so if i have selected 3d Boxes view for a platform and theres a game on that platform without a 3d box, then it will automatically show the next available artwork for that game? I hate to have blanks showing!!!!

@Jason Carr How do I add a ticket?? I dont mind keeping things as they are until you have time to make the needed changes, as all the games work. It just means that additional app roms will launch using MAME instead of RL.
-
I have just done exactly this.... but.... After the import had finished i only have 3822 games in my MAME platform. Now this is not a problem because its not counting all the clones, these are added as additional apps to the parent rom. The problem i have is (I will use SF2CE for this as it has lots of clones/hacks) when i right click on SF2CE i get the list of all the hacks etc but when i try to launch one, it fails. I get a brief flash of the MAME "Initialising" screen and then straight back to LB. If i try to launch the main SF2CE then it works, i get the RocketLauncher fade screen, can use HyperPause etc. I think the problem lies with the additional apps section, for some reason its ignoring RL and launching directly with MAME (which was the original emulator i used when importing). I used the Bulk Edit function to change the emulator from MAME to RL but I think the Bulk Edit function is only editing the main roms and not the additional apps. Phew that was hard to explain @Jason Carr any ideas? maybe this is a bug in the bulk edit function?

Copied from the Rocketlaunch Retroarch module notes. Config files: ; By default, the module looks for config files in a folder called config in the RetroArch folder. Example: C:\emus\RetroArch\config. You can change this folder to anything you like by changing the module's ConfigFolder setting in RocketLauncherUI. This will be the config folder for the module and will NOT change the location of RetroArch's own /config directory. ; RetroArch's global config file is called "retroarch.cfg". RetroArch will use a system cfg file named to match your System Name (example: Nintendo Entertainment System.cfg). ; RetroArch will also load core config files named after the core name. Example: nestopia_libretro.cfg ; This allows different settings globally, for each system, and for each core. If you want all systems to use the same retroarch.cfg, do not have any system or core cfg files, only have the retroarch.cfg. ; If a core config exists, it takes precedence over the global config. And if a system config exists, it takes precedence over the core config. I believe this will do exactly what you want with only one installation of Retroarch.

That good to know, i just assumed it was still using the database from my Hyperspin install. I didnt notice any difference because im using the same romsets.
-
Wouldn't this only work properly if you have the exact same game database set up in Rocketlauncher?? Im gonna play around with this later....

My Setup with RocketLauncher (Fade & Universal Pause)

How have you done your custom platforms, are they just playlists? Also id be very grateful if you could link me to all that gorgeous media you have for street fighter -
I am using Rocketlauncher as I moved I've from HS. I know it's not a module problem either because it happens if I run a DC game straight from demul.

In RL go to RocketlauncherUi tab, then setting and set Launchbox as your default and active frontend. Then RL will use all your existing emulators and settings from before for Launchbox. Have a a google for SimplyAustins Launchbox and Rocketlauncher tutorial vid. He explains it sooo much better, follow his vid step by step and all will be hunky dory!!!! Edit: here's the link to the video

If you are going to use RL then you should let it deal with all the emulators. Make sure you set it up as an emulator in LB, Just use the rom import function on Launchbox and then choose Rocketlauncher as the emu. I went thru all this last week and I now have over 44000 games all setup and launching with a LB/RL combo ?

It's really weird, if I choose the fullscreen options with either 16:9 or stretch I get a small windowed image when starting a game. The screen flashes as if it tries to launch in fullscreen and then goes back to windowed. The only option that works is 4:3!!!
-
Hi again, does anybody here who uses Demul have any problems with getting games to launch in fullscreen? I've tried fiddling with every option in Demul and the best I can get is a fullscreen centred 4:3 image with huge black borders either side... As a workaround for this I have had to use the bezel option in Rocketlauncher and tbh it looks quite good so if that's the best I'm gonna get I'll stick with it, jut wondered if anyone can get a true fullscreen 16:9 image from demul!

Any news on when the exoDos compatibility features will be added?? I now have a fully working exoDos meagre setup and can't wait to add it to my LB and beautify the collection ?
-
I just moved from HS to LB and the fact that I had a working RL setup already made the switch as easy as pie. I just had to import my roms and then select RL as the emulator in LB and presto everything worked just like it did in HS!! If if you already use it then I would suggest sticking with RL!!
