  1. Yep, that did it. Thank you for that clarification. Any idea if this issue is documented and on the list of things to fix? I feel like a normal user shouldn't have to do this work around to get achievements to scan in for Famicom Disk System (or any other systems that this happens to). Thank you.
  2. I'm having the same issue with my Famicom Disk System ROMs. I imported as Famicom Disk System and scanned all my ROMs for RetroAchievements but LaunchBox didn't find any. I see the fix is to change the scrape as setting. Does that mean I have to delete all my games and reimport with the scrape as setting selected? But if I do that, won't that mess up the media and metadata? Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  3. Well I did find this logo here (https://forums.launchbox-app.com/topic/69226-nintendo-game-boy-2-player-logo/). This was the only thing I found on the LaunchBox forums regarding 2 Player Game Boy. But I really wasn't sure what to do with it. I don't mean to take over your post with you providing support to me, so let me know if you want to take this conversation somewhere else. Thanks.
  4. I meant specifically for the Game Boy Link Cable. Like 2 Game Boy linked together with the cable and 2 videos playing on each screen of them playing together. I have no artistic skills nor idea how to create any of this stuff myself. So I've been looking for things that are already created that I can maybe somehow manipulate to add in myself. But if someone with your skills wanted to make one, that would be awesome. Here are links to videos and pictures that I found that I was going to try to use (and they're not really that good, but I'll take what I can get). https://www.pinterest.com/pin/477733472945846606/ https://nintendo.fandom.com/wiki/Game_Boy_Link_Cable?file=Linkcable.png
  5. Just wondering if you happened to make any kind of theme or media for 2 Player Game Boy Link Cable games. I just recently discovered that I can play games that use the link cable to connect 2 Game Boys together in RetroArch using the Sameboy core. Now I plan on creating a new Platform called "Nintendo Game Boy (2-Player)" and would love it if that platform had unique media to go with it rather than me reusing the regular Game Boy one. Thanks.
  6. Ok awesome. No rush, just curious. I recently set up all the eXoDOS projects and importing all my other console games into it. The one change I made was I created a new platform category called Retro-eXo and placed everything from his projects under that category (I did that because I think it looks neater that way for when I import other computer games). So I was looking for an all encompassing video showing off all of his projects to add as a video for when I select that category in BigBox. In the meantime, I'll give all your other projects a look. Looks like you put a lot of work into them and from what I can see just in this post alone, they all look amazing.
  7. Thank you for your response and for your solution to attach those games to the correct database entry. I'll give that a try and then look over the media and metadata again. Are you one of the moderators who approve/disapprove or otherwise maintain the database? I agree with you that the Pokemon Stadium Kin Gin should probably be deleted. I just didn't want to put in the request if you already did or are handling it. Thank you.
  8. In case I didn't understand correctly, are you saying that you plan to have an eXoDOS project completed by the end of the year? If so, that would be awesome.
  9. I've recently imported my N64 collection of games into LaunchBox and have been going through each entry making sure that it pulled in the correct metadata and images. While doing this I came across the Japanese Pokemon Stadium games. I'm no expert in these games, but what I have found out in my searching was that the first Pokemon Stadium game was only released in Japan. The sequel in Japan (Pokemon Stadium 2) was released as just Pokemon Stadium everywhere else. And then the third game in Japan (Pokemon Stadium Kin Gin or Pokemon Stadium Gold Silver) was released as Pokemon Stadium 2 everywhere else. Now looking at these 3 Japanese games in LaunchBox after importing, I have a mismosh of media for different regions, and the Japanese version of Pokemon Stadium 2 and Pokemon Stadium Kin Gin imported the same metadata and media. Now usually when I see missing media, I'll head to the No-Intro website and see if the dumper of the games uploaded pictures of the game, and if so I will do my best to edit and upload them. As well as correct any information I find in my searches. I want to do this for these 3 games, but since I am relatively new to providing updates to the database, I was hoping that a more experienced user (or whoever is in charge of the database) could look these 3 games over and make sure that the naming and alternate naming is correct so I know I am adding/removing the correct media from the correct places. The last thing I want to do is to try and contribute images and information to the incorrect entries and waste anyone's time. Or worse yet, my incorrect entries get admitted only adding to the confusion for others. The links to the 3 entries in the database will be linked below. Please give me your thoughts on all this and how you would like me to proceed. Thank you. 10. Scroll to the bottom of this page and under "Redump Custom DATs". The maintainer of this DAT has verified that it matches the regular Redump day before converting to rvz. https://datomatic.no-intro.org/index.php?page=download&s=64
  11. I found another issue with importing. Apparently for the Developer tag, "Nintendo R&D1" is being added to the metadata as "Nintendo R& D1". And because of the semicolon there, it makes it appear as 2 developers, "Nintendo R&amp" and "D1". Looking at the database website, it appears that it is labeled correctly there. Again, I am on the 13.15 official build. Thank you.
  12. Thank you. This fixed it. Do you have any opinions on what I wrote about what happens with the gamenames when importing? I understand that the Database is a separate beast, but the fact that the Import Wizard initially has the filenames as the gamenames and even lets you edit them as necessary before the import starts, but then changes the gamename to whatever the gamename in the database is, I believe is an issue. I would not expect the gamename to change after I've gone through and ensured or changed the gamenames to be what I wanted them to be. Thank you.
  13. Hello everyone. I started messing around with LaunchBox again and created a separate instance for me to do some testing in. I'm using the latest official release of 13.15. I only imported a few NES games and now shortly after I open up LaunchBox and browse around, this error message pops up. Let me know if you need any additional information to help troubleshoot. Thanks. In addition, I believe I have mentioned this before, but I'd like to mention again that LaunchBox is still importing metadata and media for games that are not even close to the correct game. In this test example, I have imported a homebrew game called ANNA, but Launchbox imported it as Wheel of Fortune Featuring Vanna White. So I would have no idea that this was wrong unless I manually went through every game and checked each one out (which I did start doing and ultimately gave up). When I first import a ROM folder, it imports the file name as the Game Title name. You even have a check box in the importer to say whether or not you want to use file names or folder names for the game title. So when it shows the list of games it's importing, it shows all the game titles as correct because it is naming them exactly what the file name is minus the stuff in parenthesis so I have no need to change anything. But once I do the import, the game names are changed to whatever it thinks it should be based on what database entry it believes it is. Even if it did match the correct database entry, I have found many of my imported games are named differently than what the file name was and I think they are using one of the alternate names associated with that entry. My work around for this is to import all my games but choose to not import metadata using the local database. This imports all my games with the correct game names. Then I select all the imported games and go to Tools, Download, Update Metadata and Images for Selected Games and then choose the option to not replace existing fields. This still downloads the wrong media for that ANNA game, but at least now all my games are named correctly. It then makes it easier for me to see what games have the wrong media and correct it as necessary. I know I wrote a lot and attached a lot of pictures, but I hope I am explaining everything clearly to you all. Ultimately, I would like the matching of the games to the database to be stricter to avoid pulling in wrong data. I would also like it if on the initial import if it kept the file names as the game title names and not replace that with whatever is in the database. I hope you found this information helpful. Thank you.
  14. Thanks for your reply. I've talked to other people about it and they all told me (some more aggressively than other) to delete Norton and never reinstall it. lol. With Norton removed, everything is working as expected again.
  15. So the issue I was having with Archive Cache Manager was my Norton Antivirus. I know, everyone tells me Norton is crap, but it came free with my LifeLock subscription so I installed it. I couldn't figure out exactly what Norton was blocking and even after excluding as much stuff as I could, it still didn't work. So I uninstalled Norton and now everything works again. I would still like to give Norton a chance, so if you have any ideas on what settings I would need to change to stop Norton from breaking your plugin, let me know and I'll give it a try. Thank you.
  16. I'm not sure when this started but every time I try to launch a game, I get this error (7-zip returned an error when trying to extract the archive). I have pinpointed the issue to be something related to the Archive Cache Manager Plugin. I believe that because when I delete the plugin, all my games run fine. But when I have the plugin installed, every game I try to launch gives me this error. What can I do to fix this? Let me know if you need any additional information. Thank you.
  17. Thank you for your reply. I understand the reasoning behind not wanting to have duplicate entries, but I can also see the flaw in that as well. One feature that I really wish they would add to the database are the file hashes and match our games and media against that and not against filenames. I feel like this would also mitigate the issues of some games getting the wrong media all together which has happened to me recently. They already do this for showing the RetroAchievement badges on the correct games and I think that works great. Either way, I finally had some time last night and submitted several changes to the database. Now I just need to wait to see if they get approved. One last question, is there a way to see a changelog for the various game entries like when a change was submitted and by who? The changes I made had to do with homebrew and aftermarket games that I don't really know much about, and it would be nice to be able to reach out to the person who originally made the submissions and discuss with them the changes I found to see if we agree. Thank you.
  18. Thank you for your reply. I've been taking notes on the items I've found so far. I didn't want to immediately start submitting things until I did more research making sure I was submitting quality edits. I did come across one entry that I wasn't sure how to handle. While searching the forums, I did come across this post from 2016 regarding some guidelines for submissions ( ). Is this still accurate? If so, it appears that you only want one entry per game. Meaning you don't want 3 separate entries for the same game released in 3 different regions (USA, Europe, and Japan). If that is the case, then how should I handle this entry for Afterburner (https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/389852-after-burner-sunsoft) It was released in both the US and Japan. However, it was an official release in Japan by Sunsoft, but an unlicensed release by Tengen in the US (as long as the information I read here is correct https://tcrf.net/After_Burner_(NES)). If this game can only have 1 entry, then there is no way for me to choose the release type as both Released and Unlicensed. As far as Publisher goes, I see that I can add an additional publisher, but I do not know if that would be the correct thing to do. Unless I create an additional entry and put the Tegen publisher in parenthesis like how they did for Sunsoft. Lastly, if that guidelines post I listed above is still accurate, would it be more appropriate to continue bringing up questions like this over there, or should I create a new post per game? Thank you.
  19. I've been through this before with RetroArch. The hashes that they give are just for the end user to know what file they are looking for. RetroArch does not use those hashes. It only checks to see if the file is named correctly. So you could (and I tested this) take a blank text file and rename and RetroArch will say you have the correct file. That is until you try to use it and it doesn't work.
  20. I can confirm. I had imported my entire NES collection and I had noticed there were many games with the wrong Title Names and Media. Most notably was "The Simpsons: Bart vs. The Space Mutants". There is a homebrew game called "Space Mutants" that isn't in the Games Database and those games were associated with "The Simpsons: Bart vs The Space Mutants". Since the 13.13 update (and because it was too much for me to go and manually change all the titles that were wrong) I decided to delete all the games from that platform and reimport them hoping that the issue was fixed. I verified that the importer was selecting the correct Game Title for them (as shown in the attached picture), but when I look through the platform in LaunchBox, it shows all those games as "The Simpsons: Bart vs The Space Mutants" still. And there is no entry for just the title "Space Mutants. I'm going to try again on a brand new install of LaunchBox in case there is some left over files from when I first imported that is causing this issue. Thank you. Another example is another Homebrew game called "The Cell" is being associated with "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure". There are more examples but I think this gets the point across. EDIT: I just tested this again on a brand new LaunchBox install and only imported the offending games I listed above and still getting the same results. If I verify during the import that the ROMs I am importing title's are named correctly, then why is LaunchBox changing them?
  21. Is it still appropriate to be posting bug reports here now that 13.13 is out of Beta? if so, I think I found another bug. I was starting to do an import of my NES folder and while it was thinking, I decided to click off the window to check something on Discord. When I clicked back on the LaunchBox Window, it acted as though I clicked a button. I did this numerous times and each time the same thing happened. Here is a quick video to show what I did and what happened. Let me know if there is anything else you need. Thank you.
  22. While going through and reorganizing my NES collection in LaunchBox, I discovered that I had 24 entries for The Simpsons: Bart Vs the Space Mutants with a lot of them having the Aftermarket tag on them. I discovered that while some of these entries were the Bart Vs the Space Mutants game, most of them were for some game called Space Mutants which is a homebrew game found here (https://t-bone1.itch.io/space-mutants). This game does not appear in the LaunchBox Games Database so I am assuming that when I imported these games, LaunchBox did a partial match based on the filename and assumed these games were Bart Vs the Space Mutants which is incorrect. This is just one example but there are more like it. I've never updated the LaunchBox Games Database before and was wondering 1) if I should add this game (and games like it) to the database; and 2) is there a guide or standard that I should be following if I do submit it to makes sure I am in compliance with how these entries should be made? Thank you.
  23. No offense taken. And I hope I didn't offend saying how I thought the default way should be. I was just saying that assuming that once I had this set up that things would work the way I wanted. But I'm sure you saw from my post on the Discord that it didn't. lol. I agree with everything you said about the versioning. But at the same time, I can't really complain either when a bunch of volunteers are spending their free time doing what they feel is best. At the end of the day, I know what I want to achieve and know how to accomplish it as things currently are. I'm just trying to find ways to make it easier for myself and hopefully others that are trying to do the same thing.
  24. That looks so much better. Thank you again for your help. If I may make a suggestion, I think this is the default way that LaunchBox should be filling in the Version Field. Not sure how much pull you have with the development. I'll be sure to suggest this in the Feature Request area as well once I get all my playlists set up how I want them and confirm that this does in fact do what I wanted it to do.
