Big Box Freezes When Trying to Access Settings Menu
chiukian replied to Space_Batch's topic in Troubleshooting
I can confirm the same exact behavior on the same build version. I notice it only happens on some themes or even some views within a theme when you use the 'all games' view. for example it happens on the pyramid theme and one of the horizontal wheel views in the city hunter 2 theme. updated to 3.12 and the issues remains. prior to these updates, there were no issues accessing the settings menu. So I doubt its a user issue as you suggest, probably a themes issue? -
@Retro808, that is what I've been reading in the forum. But for some reason LB won't launch on my PC without admin checked. This is the only info in the log when you uncheck admin: 2019-06-14 02:28:09 AM Unbroken.LaunchBox.Desktop.ViewModels.MainViewModel.window.Activated Start 2019-06-14 02:28:09 AM Unbroken.LaunchBox.Desktop.ViewModels.MainViewModel.window.Activated Before JoystickTimer Enabled Set 2019-06-14 02:28:09 AM Unbroken.LaunchBox.Desktop.ViewModels.MainViewModel.window.Activated Before Resume Video 2019-06-14 02:28:09 AM Unbroken.LaunchBox.Desktop.ViewModels.MainViewModel.window.Activated Before Check Already Focused 2019-06-14 02:28:10 AM Music.Pause Start 2019-06-14 02:28:10 AM Unbroken.LaunchBox.Desktop.ViewModels.MainViewModel.window.Deactivated Start 2019-06-14 02:28:10 AM Unbroken.LaunchBox.Desktop.ViewModels.MainViewModel.window.Deactivated Before Pause Video 2019-06-14 02:28:10 AM Unbroken.LaunchBox.Desktop.ViewModels.MainViewModel.window.Deactivated Completed 2019-06-14 02:28:13 AM FIRST CHANCE EXCEPTION: A task was canceled. at System.Runtime.CompilerServices.TaskAwaiter.ThrowForNonSuccess(Task task) 2019-06-14 02:28:13 AM FIRST CHANCE EXCEPTION: The operation has timed out. at System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.InvokeImpl(DispatcherOperation operation, CancellationToken cancellationToken, TimeSpan timeout)

Hi team, I was trying to update my PC games to run from a mapped network drive (Z:\) instead of from the network location \\192.168.....etc and I came across a thread saying in Windows 10 running as admin loses the mapped drive recognition. Launchbox does not see the Z:\ drive. Even if I keep the games as .LNK shortcuts in the "launchbox\games\windows\" folder and create a new shortcut that points to "Z:\gamename" instead of "\\192.168....\gamename" Laucnhbox does not recognize the Z:\. If I go into the launchbox folder and right-click -> properties the exe and uncheck the Run as Admin box. Launchbox won't even load at all. Anyone have issues running without admin rights?

@bman83 In the top left click the menu ->Tools -> Manage Emulators. Then find your mame emulator from the list, the third column on the right shows the default parameters, it is shows "-keyboardprovider dinput" then click on the emulator line and click the "Edit" button. Here you can remove the parameter and click "ok"
-
@bman83If you're running 158 double check the emulator parameters, when I updated to 9.8 all my mame stuff stopped working because new parameters were added. I also tried rolling back to 9.7 but for some reason kept getting install errors. Once I removed the new parameters it started working fine.
-
I actually just updated to 209, but although I updated the default emu to version 209, I still had some individual games set to run on different versions etc. It was not working with 170, so I bulk edited all mame games and changed them to the default 209 and all is good now.
-
I'm running into an issue after the 9.8 update on 2 separate machines that mame doesn't seem to like these new default parameters added "-keyboardprovider dinput" I get an unknown option error from both command line mame and arcade (ui) with this parameter on. Is there something I'm missing as it looks like this was added intentionally for the new pause screens?

Hey Team, What I'm having difficulty with is this: I have multiple nested playlists for on platform, I'm trying to consolidate some of them. For example I have a playlist for "Action" games and other playlists for "Fighter / 2.5D", "Fighter / 2D", "Fighter / 3D" etc. If I try to take the games from the "Fighter...." playlists and move them to the "Action" playlist. They don't transfer to the playlist, although LB says they were added successfully. (CTRL+A right click ->Add to Playlist) The only way for me to actually get them into the "Action" playlist is to add them from the original platform category and not from within the nested playlist. Is this a bug or just a limitation?

Awesome tip Kondorito! This worked perfectly for me. Thanks

The cleanup helped remove over 35,000 duplicate images/videos saving me about 60GB's which is awesome. I still have lots of "duplicate" images though. It would be nice to add an option to check for file names also. Most of what I'm seeing now are: File_A.png Fille_A-01.png File_A-02.png etc. I'd like to clean those up too. I tried to do that manually but when I search in windows 10 in the images folders for simply -02.png I'm not getting results.

Dave, Did you get After Burner to work? I finally figured this out myself. Turns out the "abc" file I was trying to load was not the correct one. I managed to find the "original" one and it loads fine. LMK if you need help
-
Dave, Thanks for the heads-up on the 1.53HotFix. I downloaded that and it runs MKDX just fine. Not sure why 1.51 wasn't working. Thanks
-
Neil, Yeah, I already had the games locations setup in TeknoParrotUI, This will need to be done first since when you save those locations it creates the XML files. The controls were also setup in the TeknoparrotUI and they are saved in the same XML file.
-
I did try to use the UI as the emu, but it would only load the parrotUI and not the game. I figured this out though. There was another post that mentioned listing the .XML files for each game in the command line but it wasn't super clear. So, if you go have TeknoParrot set up as an emulator and are launching ParrotLaunch.exe Go into the details of each game and click the emulation TAB Then check the box for Use custom command line parameters, and add the below: --profile=XXX.XML They will launch with your controls working (setup within TeknoParrotUI) The XML files are located in the GameProfiles folder of the Tekno PArrot folder. Just match up the XML file to your game title. Hope this helps anyone else trying to set this up too. Thanks Neil

If I use the parrotloader.exe and the games .exe They all load fine, but none of the controls work. However all of the controls work when I launch the games from the parrotUI directly What's the method to launch them from LB?
