My disks won't spin and they do not have a transparent background, they sit in a white square. I have vertical view 3 selected. I also have the original Unified installed, but don't know if I need an add on. I just added a few Sega Saturn games, then told LB to get the media. Any idea what could going wrong?

What is the algorithm for searching for and removing all the media files after you delete a bunch of roms and run the scan? Will it only look in the folders under the launchbox folder? What if I have art in a download or archive folder somewhere? It won't delete that will it? And you are on your own deleting the bezels and whatever you have under the RocketLauncher folder, right?

I'm a little thick, why is there a 649 MB file at the top of the download list and then all the rest are 282? To get the latest version, do I download just the latest release number (1.6 right now) or do I need the un-numbered larger zip and then install the 1.6 on top of it?

@Colpipes78, In the no-intro build, you had nes as famicom, were the roms different? In other words, even though the games are mostly the same, the Japanese versions has some minor differences in the US versions. I am debating whether to have two separate folders and LB platforms, or just have a platform I rename to "SNES / Super Famicom" and just put US SNES roms in there. Anybody else have thoughts on organizing and naming NES and SNES roms?

Which core in RA are you using for MAME? Use the settings in LB and RA as a guide and make sure RL is using RA as the emulator and that the correct core is set. Make sure LB is set to use RL as the emulator. Just putting your roms in the same folder as the other roms should work as long as you scanned again and added them to LB Right click on Pole Position in LB, click on edit and go to the emulation tab. Is RL your emulator? Run RLUI, click on your arcade/mame system on the left and then the games tab at the top. Click on the blue circle with the arrow To "audit all the games on this system". Scroll down. Do you see "polposa1" in the list? And "found" to the right is "Yes"? In your roms folder is this a zip file? Lastly, make sure the version of your RS core is the same as your roms. For roms that old, the version shouldn't matter, but best to check. When I launch with RA mamelibretro .197 or later, PP runs just fine. Keep in mind though, this is listed as a rom that is not perfect. Bad rom dump or chd. Never had a problem with it, though. I seem to remember spyhunter didnt work until very recently, but I would have to verify that. It used to need a different core. In any case, the steering wheel, gas pedal, shifter and guns, etc, make it almost impossible to play without special controls You can right click on the game in LB, select "launch with" then "retroarch", then "mamelibretro" this should launch RA in a new window and run the game as a test.

@Colpipes78, Is this an updated version of the original "no intro" set with a different theme or is it something else entirely? Wondering if I should replace or compare the no-intro one I've been working from. Great work on all your builds!

Launchbox´s music still plays after game open
FlightRisk replied to LuismaSP89's topic in Troubleshooting
Is this what you are talking about? By "music" do you mean the audio from the videos for the game in the side panel or the background music you can select in LB? -
I guess the message should be clearer then, either do the check and do nothing if it finds the correct version, or ask "You don't have / have an older version of DirectX, please press "Yes" to install". As it stands, it implies it is going to install if you hit yes and not if you hit no. So people who know they already have the correct version, think it is going to waste time installing again and again (once a week or more as new versions come out). Thanks for the clarification. I'll just always press "Yes".

I imagine you are using a shell command to run the DirectX Setup? In any case, I get this error, perhaps because I tell it "no" to install directX since it asks every time there is a new install. The Install of the new Beta didn't seem to "take" since it asked me if I wanted to install a new version after just installing a new version. I got that message box each time. Is 9.0 beta 9 the latest? That is what is installed now after 2 installs.

Actually, you can skip those popups by putting these in the mame.ini file: skip_disclaimer 1 skip_gameinfo 1 I believe you can also use it as a command line option when running mame from a front end loader with -skip_gameinfo. So no need to have to find a recompiled version or compile it yourself. This will NOT get rid of the messages that report issues with the roms such as no sound or incomplete graphics. That does require a recompile. Apparently, this used to be an option, but so many people turned it off and then were complaining about issues with roms when a game didn't work, causing a support nightmare for the Mame developers, that they removed it. So now they purposely will not allow it to be turned off without someone going through the difficulty of finding a custom build or building it yourself. That should limit the people who forget they turned it off and report a known not working rom. Also, there is the "No Name Mame" build that has options to add skip_gamewarning and skip_baddumps that takes care of those warnings too.

I can't guarantee I didn't break anything, but this was working before the last few versions. I have a separate folder with a full LB and LB.Next install from several versions back. I used to be able to stop running my main LB, go to that folder I use for testing, and run that version. Now it does nothing. If I click LB or LB.Next's exe, nothing happens. Same with BigBox. If I watch taskmanager, I can sometimes catch the exe showing, but then it just goes away. No error. I was using this to import my setup one platform at a time from that version (no-intro roms) to my new main setup.

How do people use this? To sort by series? Group roms like all the "19xx" roms in one place? I have many auto-generated playlists that LB found games to and populated, but series wasn't one of them. How would I use the series feature to put all the roms in the same series together in a playlist? And is it self-updating? In other words, if I have only Metal Slug, Metal Slug 2 and Metal Slug 3 and I add Metal Slug 6 to the Arcade Playlist, will the Metal Slug series playlist automatically pick up the new addition?

Top Gunner had the images and video from a completely different game. So I tried to update metadata an images and chose the first option to overwrite any data. Yet it still gave me this error: could not download metadata or images for top gunner: cannot create file when that file already exists. I know files already exist. I told it to replace everything. Is this a bug? This is LB.Next 8.6 beta 6

Same with me, I tried to download media and metadata for spider (spider.zip) and it gave me a video for spiderman the video game. Normally, it finds play videos, not the cinematics, but that is what it did with this one. Previous versions gave me no matching video. How do I correct it, BTW? Where do I delete that video or at least unlink it to that rom?

Maybe that is true for a couple of the others I see. Thanks!

I filtered my set to remove slots/fruit, clones, and most of the other checkboxes when I imported them. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but there are a lot of roms that have a sequel but no original, EX: "Streets of Rage II". Where is "Streets of Rage 1? There are several of these I noticed. I have the MAME .200 non-merged set.

No offense taken. Thanks for the input

Many of the menu items in LB have hotkeys. Can you program your own for an item that has no hotkey like "add to playlist"?

What's the problem Neil? I didn't post his name or anything private despite the fact he isn't private. He uses his screen name in all his posts just as it wouldn't take a genius to know who a guy posting as "KingOfPop" and signing his name Mike is. Anyone could find him. I posted messages here, waited, then posted in places he frequents more often. I am actually a fan of his work. He is a self-taught world class artist. He posts pictures of his game machines and much of his work online. He is mentioned in many places and promotions. There are youtube videos where he is interviewed for being a leader in his field. It's no secret who he is, he makes a point of putting his real name and face out there and uses his handle as a middle name. Maybe it was a rush to judgement to use the word "rude" to describe that he won't answer people. He works on big projects. He is consumed when working on one or more. I get that. But several people have tried to make contact in a polite way and no one has heard from him in the gaming community (that I know of). He doesn't owe us anything, but he did put software out there that people use and then abruptly left them hanging without a word. I shouldn't use my frustration to label him and didn't mean to. At first I thought something happened to him, but then I see he posts all the time in a non-gaming venue. Maybe he just lost interest in gaming. I hope he either answers someone at some point or directs someone to post a message just to find out if there is any hope to pick up the project.
