first time i try to import my games from steam and it seems i can't, i put my id, change games visibility to "everybody" (my profile was already public) , but nothing... for the api key i set my mail, i didn't know what to set.

If you read the instructions in the wizard, it tells you how to get an API key. Your email will not work.

Hello,

on your profile page http://steamcommunity/profiles/<your profile number>, select "modify my profile", then you can define your "personal url":

http://steamcommunity.com/id/<type what you want to use for id>

then save your modified profile, and you can use the id you defined in launchbox import assistant.

[UPDATE-working now]
I went ahead and tried it again, and it worked this time.

=========================

I am unable to import Steam games too. I have my profile and friends list set to public. I am running the latest build of Launchbox/Bigbox. I noticed that in the import process, one of the windows, asks for my Steam ID ...
The window shows http://steamcommunity.com/id/ [box to enter SteamID#]

Should the above link be https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/ instead?

I get the following error ...

Pretty good feature and worked! Perfect, and no login to the account required.
But one thing is a con.
Steam has a feature called:  Profile Features Limited (or Learn about this game before)These games don't count to the Game counter and statistics. And so this Launcherbox system can't import these games in this list. :/
I mean, many of these are trash, but some good, and manually is preeeeeeetty much work, because I missed 1000+ games with this feature in my library.

Hmm, first I'm hearing of this. Looks like that happens for new/indie games that haven't reached a certain threshold in sales or use. Unfortunately I'm not sure if there's anything we can really do about that. We need the Steam API in order to find the games, and if the API sucks (surprise, surprise), I don't think there's much we can do, sadly.

No connection to your account...

@dustdancer Thanks for the report. I've added some code to the latest beta (now beta 12) that adds some extra logging to this so that we can see exactly what's happening here. Can you download the latest beta, turn on debug logging, and then give it another test?

You can turn on debug logging under Tools > Options > Debugging. Then you can just PM me the log file that shows up under LaunchBox\Logs. Thanks! :)

I can't import Steam games on 10.11

I've made my profile public and entered the custom URL with and without the slash.  I created the API Key in Steam and entered into Launchbox.  I always get the message "Your Account Could Not Be Accessed" and it refers me to this thread.

I tried the Steam import on a separate computer and it worked fine... I have no idea why it worked on one machine and not on the other... scratching my head,   both machines are set up identical.

@ExtraCredit If you could turn on debug logging on the machine that it's not working on, try it, and then send us the logs, we can troubleshoot this further. :)

@Jason Carr I've been having the same issue.  Noticed it a few weeks ago.  I've DM'd you the log.

I'm a new LaunchBox user and am having the same problem importing from Steam.  I did notice that the base URL for my profile is different than what is in the LaunchBox importer.

LaunchBox:   http://steamcommunity/id/<user identifier>

Steam Profile:  https://steamcommunity/profiles/<user identifier>

When I manually try these in my browser, I get an error with the LaunchBox version but not the other.  I can't find a place in the options screen to edit the base part of the URL.

Thanks @PhuriousGeorge; I checked out your log file. By chance, do you have any Steam-related plugins installed? Or any plugins of any kind? If so, can you try removing them and then trying to import again?

Not quite following you here. When I go to the second URL you've provided above in my browser, the site gives me a 404 not found error. The first one works fine however. For example:

http://steamcommunity.com/id/deepest_seed - Works

https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/deepest_seed - 404 Not Found

What are the specific links for your profile?

Thanks for the reply.  I figured out my issue.  I didn't bother creating a custom URL, and the link with 'profiles' is the default.  When I created a custom URL, my profile link changed to 'id' and the import worked fine.  Sorry for the false alarm.

I've changed the API key, I've set my profile to public, im pretty sure I've got the right custom URL and I've got a secure internet connection but it still says "Your Account Could Not Be Accessed"

what else could be wrong?

Edit: nevermind i fixed it. i forgot to click save in Steam ?

When I had this issue, it turned out that I was copying and pasting the entire URL, complete with the "http://" part of it, but the box where you paste this into LaunchBox already includes that part of it, so if you paste it again, you'll get an error. All you need to include is "steamcommunity/id/<user identifier>"
