LogicalEgo
Same old sound bug with launching Demul T_T
Crush
Is Demul T_T a different version compared to the Demul 0.7a (Aug 16 2016)? I use the normal Demul 0.7a and i have no sound problems after setting "Alternate Filter" and Buffer Size 4096 in Sound Configuration. Zombeaver
He's not talking about a problem with Demul's sound - the problem is with background music in Big Box when you start Demul. Sometimes it doesn't stop after starting a game, sometimes it will stop when you start a game but doesn't come back after exiting the game. Zombeaver
I can confirm this is still happening for me as well. CCS64 was doing the same thing at one point but it was fixed a few betas back.
LogicalEgo
I am sorry I should have clarified but I assumed everyone already knew what I was talking about. The issue is when you launch a emulator like Demul the background music will either continuously play during game play or when it stops it will not resume when you exit the game. It's been an on going issue that most people are aware of. Edited February 15, 2017 by keltoigael
Sithel
Very frustrating indeed, there's some good games to be played, but I've been skipping demul altogether until the issue is fixed. Zombeaver
An interesting tidbit that may or may not help diagnose the problem... I've been in the process of auditing my arcade platforms for the last few days and I've been converting some stuff over to RA's MAME core. Curiously, there are a handful of games that all exhibit the same unusual behavior and they're typically double/triple-screen games like Darius and Darius II. For whatever reason, these games will cause the screen to flash for a moment when booting, seemingly due to the weird resolution, and then afterwards it'll show the mouse cursor in the middle of the screen (which is weird for RA). If you boot these games in Big Box using RA MAME they exhibit the exact same sound problem as Demul; and RA is normally perfect for me. The specific games I've encountered that exhibit this behavior are: Cotton Boomerang Darius (triple screen game) Darius II (triple screen game) Die Hard Arcade GP Rider (double screen game) Outrunners (double screen game) Warrior Blade (double screen game) They work perfectly fine in say MAMEUI, but it got me thinking that maybe the Demul issue has something to do with resolution switching? It does start windowed and then go fullscreen. CCS64 does too though and it's working fine in Big Box currently.
Maddoc1007
I don't have a sound issue with Demul 160816 with background music on it works ok and music resumes when you exit game. However i do have a problem with the resume of the background video it dulls very dark and flickers madly until you move to the next game. Zombeaver
How many launches did you test? It doesn't always behave the same way.
Maddoc1007
Just did 21 launches of games one after each other and no problems with sound but had bad background video 8 times out of the 21 after quitting a game. Also i dont use nomousey for hiding the mouse i use LaunchBox Cursor Changer v2 by @Vlansix Edited February 15, 2017 by Maddoc1007
Zombeaver
Hmm, interesting. I do use nomousey and I believe @keltoigael does as well. I do use it with CCS64 as well though.
Sithel
I'm not using nomousey and still have the same issue. To me it seems related to the way the Demul window pops up before launching a game to full screen. Almost like demul is tricking bigbox into thinking it's in focus when it's not yet. If that makes sense. Oddly enough when I launch a demul game from within LaunchBox, it seems like 9 out 10 times i just get a launchbox crash then demul starts. Completely different then the sound issues when launching through bigbox.

LogicalEgo
I'm using WMP. It performs better than VLC. Edited February 15, 2017 by keltoigael
Jason Carr
Hmm, some good discoveries here. I'll be back to this soon guys; sorry I missed it for the 7.7 release. It would be helpful to continue the discussion to see why it's working for @Maddoc1007 and what the difference might be.
Freestate
@Jason Carr I've tried the option to merge roms into one entry in the last version of launchbox, 7.7 but it doesn't work with roms that have diferent name in regional versions. I've tried to import The jetsons: invasion of the planet pirates and Youkai buster: ruka no daibouken that are the same game but with diferences between us version (jetsons) and japanese (youkai) and don't work. Youkai buster are already added as alternate name (japan) on jetsons entry. Edited February 15, 2017 by Freestate

I use vlc mainly but tested it using wmp and get the same results. What's odd is I play dolphin blue a lot and it don't do it to much with that game, but I'll play metal slug 6 and the sound issue will happen every time. Zombeaver
I'm not sure how much of this is relevant, but for comparison purposes: Windows 7 / 64-bit i7 4770k Nvidia GTX 780 32GB RAM Aero is enabled 1080p desktop resolution Using Nomousy with Demul Using Demul 0.7a (I think it's the one dated "22.12.2015") Using gpuDX11 video plugin in Demul
