What kind of controller are you using? As I say in the opening post, this is designed to be used with a 360 or XB1 controller. It could work with something else but the hotkeys will likely either not work or be in the wrong place.

Alternately, you can use the keyboard controls. They're listed in the opening post.

Thank you for your response.

I have an Xbox 360 controller and two EasyGet Arcade controllers I use for MAME games.

Here is what I've discovered. When a game launches at the bottom is display that shows game port configurations

When a game launches one of them grabs  game port 0, the other will grab either game port 1 or 2. They are identified as Retrolink N64 controllers

The Xbox 360 controller will be game port 1 or 2.

None of the controllers are responsive.

The keyboard doesnt work for anything but ctrl-alt-del

If I remove the two EasyGet Arcade controllers  then the Xbox 360 controller (gets game port 0) and the keyboard will work.

I've found controller settings in the C64 Dreams folders but dont know what to change.

Not sure how to change this. Any ideas?

I'm not sure what to suggest there other than just leaving them disconnected. You can thank Retroarch's rather arbitrary method of input device priorization which basically just uses Windows' internal device numbering system. You could try connecting the 360 controller first, if it's wired, and then the others. If it's wireless and you turn it off or disconnect over USB it'll reshuffle the order.

You can try messing with Retroarch's controller autoconfig system to see if you can make the arcade controllers reconfigured to be something more correct, but your mileage is going to vary and I don't know how well that will work. My advice would be to look into getting something like this if you don't have one and hooking the various controllers up to it. That's what I do with my more specialized controllers like my flight stick and arcade stick - the flight stick in particular can make some applications completely freak out for no apparent reason, so with that you can just toggle stuff off quickly as needed.

What games are you wanting added? I don't have a problem adding non-English games into the collection (there are a number of such games in the collection already) so long as they're playable without requiring comprehension of whatever language they're in (which is often the case given how simplistic most C64 games are). If it's something like a text adventure or RPG though probably not. Or if there's an English version available I can at least add those.

So your game selection is mega, so far I have not missed a game except the typically German ones.

It is typically German, in the 1980s the Germans played many economic simulations ... to the point of vomiting ... laughing ... and Bundesliga managers.

An example:
Bundesliga Manager v2.0 (1991) (Software 2000) (de)
Bundesliga 98-99 (1998) (Joerg Boetel) (de)
Bundesliga Live (1985) (Ludwig Gabelin) (de)
Bundesliga Manager (1991) (Software 2000) (de)
Bundesliga Manager v2.0 (1991) (Software 2000) (de)

A typical economic simulator is Vermeer, maybe there is an English version.

With your instructions I have e.g. easily added Bundesliga Manager v2.0. Works wonderfully!

P.S .: But I have a question about the games I bought, such as Sam's Journey, did I add that right? There are several discs

Ah okay, economic simulators in German would probably be out as that's not the type of thing that would be very easy to play without language comprehension. Things like platformers and other action games are easy enough to play regardless of language but economics simulators tend to be quite text-heavy. I do have a couple games in the genre in the collection already like Black Gold.

If there are native English or even cracker-translated versions (there are a few of those out there) of any of the games you're talking about I'd be happy to put those in the collection. If not you'll probably just need to stick with adding them yourself (which as you've discovered is pretty simple).

Your screenshot for Sam's Journey looks right. You need to have Disk1.d64 - Disk4.d64 and then start "Install Real Config.bat" and you should be set. If you have any problems with it let me know.

Yep, its realy special ?

Here is a List of German Titles, maybe i can find some games with english translation or Games without language comprehension for your Collection. But first i will check your collection against my list.

I just skimmed through the list but some of those are already in the collection:

Airborne Ranger
The Big Deal
Black Gold
Bozuma
Cauldron 2
Cave Climber
Crime Time
Crown
Elite
Elvira
Elvira 2
Floyd the Droid
Football Manager
Heart of Africa
Iron Lord
Lords of Chaos
Lords of Chaos 2
Lucky Luke
Maniac Mansion
Mercenary
Murder on the Mississippi
Quo Vadis
Rings of Medusa
Stifflip & Co
Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders

I'm sure there are some I missed and some that I just don't recognize from the German title.

For Brubaker there is an English translated version that I remember trying a long time ago and it not working correctly, but I can try it again to be sure.

Something to keep in mind though is that this is a completely curated collection. That means that if there are games from that list that you specifically want added, that's okay (as long as there's an English version or it's playable without German comprehension) but it has to be something that you actually want for some specific reason. In other words "It's German", in and of itself, isn't a reason to add anything any more than "It's Italian" (there are quite a few games in Italian on Gamebase64) if that makes sense. If there's stuff from that list where you feel like "Oh I loved this game as a kid, it's worth having in the collection." that's perfectly fine.

...I'm not likely to add any of the German-only porn games though lol

As written, your game selection is already mega. I am currently checking the "Dream Collection already got it" "Crap" "Let's take a look" and "not playable for non germans" system.

I don't know any of the games, I play these games first to see what that is.

So far I am assuming that I will only add a few economic simulations.

I have now checked the German titles, a lot of bad stuff. I decided to add just a few economic simulations like
- Vermeer
- Hanse
- Yuppies Revenge
- Bundesliga Manager
- Kaiser
- Kaiser 2

I loved playing these games back then.

But I still have a question about the convert tool.
In a post here in the thread, the vbs script was mentioned which hides the command line. How exactly does it work?

So far I have proceeded as follows. The .d64 file is dragged into the! Automator.bat. Then the Game.bat file was created as required. As I have read, this cannot be used as a start file in Launchbox. Which file do I have to include in the! VBS Converter.bat.

I hope I've phrased my question well.

I think you're using an old version of the automator judging by your screenshot. You need to be using the one that comes with the collection. It's in C64 Dreams\C64 Dreams\Utilities\Creation Tools

All you have to do is drag your d64s onto !Automator.bat and then move the folders it creates into the Games folder where the others are. That's it. Just start the .vbs that's in the folder it creates.

When you drag a d64 onto the automator it should create a folder named after the file and it should contain Disk1.d64, Game.bat, [Game Name].vbs, and [Game Name].cmd. The .vbs starts the game.

My fault! I drag & drop the files from another Partion, so the vbs file was not created. After i copied the files in the Creation folder it works absolutly fine! Thx for the Script.
All my single German Economic Games are now in your collection ? great

Now i want only add the german Version of Zak McKracken and Maniac Mansion, the only Reason was nostalgia. Is it correct that i have ton Automate the boot Disk, when rename the cmd to m3u and add in the m3u the other files? At the moment it boot but dont load into the game.

The m3u looks like this

Disk1.d64
Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders 1.d64
Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders 2.d64
Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders 3.d64
Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders 4.d64
Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders 5.d64
Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders 6.d64
Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders 7.d64

I hope my last Question. During the test games I noticed that the sound of the games did not sound like normal. There is a lot of background noise or some kind of overdrive. Do I have to adjust something in retroarch.the sound of the games are incorrect, a lot of crack sound issues, have i setup your retroarch

It looks like you may have left out the boot disk from the list unless that's what Disk1.d64 is. Basically you just need to replace the .cmd with a .m3u file and the .m3u needs to contain whatever disks you want to use, in order.

As an example, the .m3u for 221B Baker Street is:

Program.d64
Cases1.d64
Cases2.d64

"Program" is basically the boot disk, and the cases are mission disks.

The d64s can be named whatever you want, as long as you've listed them in the correct order in the .m3u in order for the game to load correctly.

Sounds like you're having some performance issues. Crackling sound normally indicates that your hardware isn't sufficient for the current settings. I have some settings adjustment suggestions for people that are having performance problems in the opening post. Take a look at the "Performance" section and try the suggestions there.
