I have trouble with merging games (different regions). I have a fresh setup with the beta (btw. happens with 1.24 too) and when i import for example my snes library with the option to merge games of different regions and versions, the importer have trouble to recognize which version to pick.

The importer prioritise beta over release, thats strange. My last import for my main install is some versions earlier but there it works flawless. Its a pain to correct hundreds of games to pick the right version. See the default version on the right side in the details.

My solution to that issue has always been to physically remove the files I don't want from the ROM folder.

I have a separate folder with alternative rom versions for archival purposes (who is going to care about this when I'm gone?   I have no idea...   but I still keep the things).  Basically, one folder for the "cabinet" set, then another for the "archive" set.

Hello everyone! First of all, I want to thank you for all the updates, features and improvements that you've implemented to LaunchBox all these years. I've been a LaunchBox user for half a decade now and is still my frontend of choice. Nevertheless, and I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, there has been a bug since v13.19 that has made me unable to update and has to do with LB archive extractor. Long story short, if you extract any zipped game that is less than 100mb while having startup screens enabled, LB creates a second instance once you launch the game, and even if you shut down LB completely, the program stays open in the background. I go more in depth regarding this issue in the following forum post where I demonstrate that this issue wasn't present on v13.18. Probably related to the .NET 9.0 update?

https://forums.launchbox-app.com/topic/35010-archive-cache-manager/page/12/#findComment-489632

Since I have 90% of my roms archived and I like the startup screens, I had to stay on v13.18 since. I just wanted to inform you about this issue and see if it could be fixed for the next update.

Thank you and keep up the great work.

I did some testing with the region priorities, and it looks like something is broken. Even though North America and USA are at the top of my priority list, as soon as I update LaunchBox to the latest beta, any games with regions listed as (Japan, USA), notably several Sega 32X titles switch to the Japanese artwork. All of my U.S. box art flips to Japanese covers, even though Japan is set dead last in my priority order.

Really like the Next/Previous buttons in the Edit dialog, but it would be even better if it stayed on the same page when moving, rather than always revert to the main page. That way if you're editing the same thing that's not on the first page (Notes, Custom Fields, Media, etc) you can without having to switch the page each time.

Hey everyone, quick update on the beta and why things have been a bit quieter lately.

Right before the Christmas holidays, we had one of those unfortunate timing moments where a good chunk of our team got sick around the same time, despite none of us even living in the same area. On my end, my entire family got hit, which took me out pretty hard through the holidays and into the new year. I'm finally clear of the last lingering symptoms as of this weekend and feeling properly clear headed again.

Most of the team is thankfully on the other side of it now, though we still have one member working their way through recovery.

We are getting back into a steady rhythm now and the hope is that you'll see things move forward at a nice steady pace before all of this happened.

This is definitely something I'd like to smooth over for users wanting to have pre-release versions of released games in their library. We will look into this early in our next release cycle.

While I'd love to have a response here, I assume it is because of the .NET update to LaunchBox. It's possible the plugin itself may need an update to support some .NET difference. That's where I'd start anyway. If I have any free time to sleuth, I may use up an hour on investigation, but since it's a user created plugin, we rely heavily on the user in how their code is built.

I gave this a few tries using your example of Sega 32X, but I am not seeing your issue unfortunately. I tried running an import with these games, and received the correct North American box art based on my region settings. I tried downloading both North American and Japan boxart and using my Region Priority settings to determine which boxart to display, and it always chose North American boxes.
If you check your Sega 32X box - front images, are your images organized inside the region folders?

Interesting request. Is there any reason a user would not want this to happen? The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is someone maybe doing a multi-edit across multiple pages where they are starting on the Metadata section and moving between 2 or 3 sections for each game they are trying to edit. Outside of that, this should be possible, but may be a bit complex. There are some sections that certain games don't have, so if you are on a section that the next game you land on doesn't expose, we'd have to handle that scenario.

In my case, I would use something like this when adjusting additional apps. I added a bunch of translation patches recently and have been making my way through my library to set them as the primary version. It can get a little annoying having an extra click in between each edit.

Yeah, being able to search or filter on additional apps would be wonderful!  That's definitely something I wish to see in the future.

@faeran Hi! Thanks for replying to my post and listening to our feedback. However, I can confirm that this is not an issue related to the Archive Cache Manager plugin made by @fraganator His plugin got a .NET 9.0 update and I did the testing with and without the plugin and this bug happens regardless on all versions since v13.19. I immensely appreciate if you can do further testing and help fix this issue that prevents me from updating. Still, thank you so much for hearing me out.

Best!

When playing a Matroska video file ".mkv" video snap, the video plays file plays fine, but then the box art for the game disappears with ffmpeg. It works fine with Windows Media Player with K-lite installed. .mkv is also not shown as a valid video type on the video snap selection screen when selecting a video snap. You have to select "All Files." I hope this helps.

Edit: Selecting Windows Media Player, OK, then going back and selecting ffmpeg fixes the problem, but the problem reoccurs if I select another mkv video snap.

Hi All,

A couple of bugs I've noticed. I apologize if they've already been mentioned.

1. If you're using PlatformHybird view and are in a specific filter (lets say Sega Genesis) and try do a search, your results will be for every filter that you have. So, the results in your search will be for all of your games, not just Sega Genesis. This does not seem to affect other views.

2. Importing Epic Games doesn't seem to work. If I try imporitng games through Launchbox then Epic, it will ask me to login to Epic, then it won't show any games to import.

Thanks!

Try:  Open up your Epic Games client (external to LaunchBox), sign [back] in and accept their terms.
