  1. UPDATE TO LIGHTS OUT 8.0-MAME 0.275 is up. 81 new/updated artworks.
  2. Sorry for the late reply. This will work with merged, non-merged and split romsets like the "official" artworks from Mr. Do. As I use the real MAME build, not the outdated/butchered one that comes with RetroArch, I don't really know if those would work with HyperspaceMadness' Mega Bezel shaders. I think it would work, as long as the shaders were specifically set up (no glass, no reflections, since those are already integrated into the artworks). If you manage to use them with RA, please give me some feedback.
The blue versions are great add-ons. Well done and thank you.
  3. Golly! Ghost! is now 100% operational. The problem was that some of the activation switch values were deprecated. To update the artwork, I also had to modify some of Mr. RetroLust's PNGs. I'm pretty proud of the result. Please note that guns must be calibrated before each game. Instructions on how to do this can be found at the end of the LAY file.
  4. Damn it, you're right! I was too quick to declare victory and I'm going to dive right back in. Thanks for the heads-up.
  5. Hi there! As usual, you could simply unzip the latest update on one side and then use the resulting files to replace the ones already in your MAME\artwork and MAME\folders directories. It's quick, easy and rather dirty. The advanced and cleanest way is to use the DAT contained in the update to rebuild artworks using Clrmamepro, Romcenter or another similar tool. For my part, I use the first of these, which is the oldest of the ROMs managers. Anyway, be careful if you're not familiar with the use of such tools. MAKE A BACKUP OF ALL YOUR ARTWORKS BEFORHAND, as mishandling them could have unfortunate consequences.
  6. What's New in Version 0.09 released February 17, 2025 UPDATE TO LIGHTS OUT 6.6 - MAME 0.274 - January 2025 - Huge update - Sync with MAME 0.274 - Finally succeeded to convert Golly! Ghost! to the new LAY code, Cowabunga! - I reworked the generic fallback artworks, this enabled me to remove over 150 artworks that were no longer needed - Redone most of the optional custom enhancements - Included XML DAT for ROMs manager 365 new/updated artworks.
  7. While preparing next update for Mr. RetroLust's MAME Lights Out Bezels Revisited, I noticed that 280zzzap was buggy. The screen PNG was misnamed and the score was misplaced, preventing the artwork from displaying in full-screen mode. Here's a corrected version. 280zzzap.zip
  8. Well, DAT is included in the "UPDATE TO LIGHTS OUT 6.0-MAME 0.272" archive.
  9. Those artworks are UHD 4K 3840x2160. Here's the one you're looking for in HD 1080. I converted it just for you, quick n easy way.loht.zip
  10. 1) Noobs section is for Launchbox questions. Please post emulation related questions here: https://forums.launchbox-app.com/forum/75-emulation/ 2) Use BGFX. The auto mode will use the least demanding rendering for your computer. It won't add scanlines, bloom effects, etc. You could use it if you have a CRT monitor, but that's it. 3) System filter in General Settings has nothing to do with graphic rendering. It is simply used to manually select a type of roms (ex: NeoGeo only, Arcade vs. Home, Vertical vs. Horizontal, etc). 4) FFBArcadePlugin may add force feedback and rumble effects to various arcade games. Look for it on github. 5) Folder INI file is intended to display a list of the game of the collection in System FIlter tab. It won't download anything. 6) I recommend that you search and take a look at the "documentation" section of mamedev. You'll find most of the answers you're looking for as a newcomer to MAME's universe. I've added the official emulator user guide as an attachment. I hope I've been helpful, have fun! MAME_268.pdf
  11. The DAT is designed for users who use Clrmamepro or a similar tool to manage their ROM and artworks collections.
  12. 1) ArcCabView is simply an optimized modification of the crt-geom-deluxe included with the MAME distribution. You can use whichever one you prefer, or even another - it's a personal choice. 2) the original MAME is infinitely better than the horrible adaptation supplied with RetroArch. My artworks collection won't work with RetroArch anyway. 3) As it stands, the vast majority of the collection should work with future versions of MAME. All that's needed is for the name of an artwork to match the name of the ROM for which it's intended. Even if I never update again, 99% of the collection should work with MAME 0.268 and later.
  13. Mr. RetroLust is the artist, not me. I just code the lay files according to the new standard and sometimes slightly modify his works to adapt 'em to it. I did this thing quickly to answer your request, I hope it will do the trick. Here it is in advance of the next update. Thanks for your interest.
  14. Sorry for the extremely late reply, I hadn't seen your comment. Since then, the project has been updated like the original one and I intend to follow Mr. RetroLust releases as much as possible and regularly update it according to the new versions of MAME. In fact, a new update is underway that will convert some artworks not made specifically for MAME. Thanks for the kind words.
I LOVE this game! Kind of Alien Syndrome with Robotron 2084-style controls. Really nice frenetic old style play. Your artwork is top notch, thanks for sharing!
  15. Here, screen curvature and scanlines depend on your graphics plugin, not on the artworks. Please copy/paste your mame ini afterwards, I'll check it.
  16. Hello, sorry for the late reply. 1) battlera : I can't reproduce this display bug. As I've tried with 3 different PC, I think it has something to do with your personal setup. 2) orunners : For now, as the gear shift is not referenced in MAME sources, it is not possible to display it on screen. If you're using a recent relase of MAME, it's best to use this fork, which is more future-proof. For the bezel, everything depends on Mr Retrolust. But the LED display is technically feasible, I could code it into the lay file. Please note that for LaserDisc games, the emulator of choice is https://github.com/DirtBagXon/hypseus-singe Much more advanced than MAME. Yeah, replace all the zips on each update. The folder ini is completely accessory but allows you to display a list of all games with artwork. 1) For games which don´t have a dedicated bezel, if a system bezel exists, it will be loaded first. Otherwise, the generic horizontal and vertical bezels will be used as fallback artworks. 2) Editing your MAME ini file, you can select a multitude of different artworks folders. This is very practical, but it can lead to conflicts, and not all artworks may always be available. Please note that this collection is already perfectly compatible with the classic artworks of Mr. Do. Thank you for your kind comments
  17. If you've done it properly, now you must have numerous zip files in your main MAME "Artwork" folder. Please check it, first is 3countb.zip, last is zzyzzyxx.zip. Everything should work.
  18. Automatic batch graphic editing will give very bad results and would kill the magic of the reflections. With a few rare exceptions, I mainly only update the code for lay files and do not want to touch Mr. Retrolust's tremendous graphic work.
  19. Only MAME and derivative builds, not the butchered version that comes with RA.
  20. ??? Everything is listed in the changelog.
  21. A few years ago, Hydranger from MameWorld forums published some 16:10 bezels. I have updated the lay files to the new artwork system but have not yet made those public. Here's the original link : https://www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Board=artwork2&Number=366961
