  1. "Hey guys, I'm taking the liberty of leaving a little note. Great work @retrojoshvc you really know you're a Highlander, you know: we don't have much practice left ^^! It's nice to see motivated people taking over. Because in reality, only 4/5 of us on the scene create video themes—we can almost count ourselves on the fingers of one hand. For my part, I've been doing it for 15 years, and I can tell you that, whatever anyone says, a little feedback or encouragement under a creation is hugely motivating. The thing is, these days, we see very few likes or comments. It's not that we're looking for medals, but when you spend 4 or 5 hours on a theme, and you see 1,100 downloads... for only 2 likes, frankly, it stings a little. Think about it: a little note, a like, a bit of feedback—it costs nothing, but for us, it changes everything. The power of atmosphere in intro videos is too often underestimated. Some captivate from the first second, conveying the heritage, identity, and emotion of a game. Some will say, "30 seconds is enough," others, "3 minutes is too long." But really? There are no rules. What matters is the emotion. A good set of videos can literally transform an entire system. These aren't just additions—they're the guardians of our gaming culture. They create an atmosphere, they prepare for adventure, they pay homage. A well-thought-out intro video is an emotional gateway, a reminder of what makes each game unique. Some players settle for simple gameplay videos. Aside from the practical aspect (and the space-saving aspect, okay 😅), they often feel cold and impersonal. A default interface, without gimmicks, without nostalgia, without memories… it simply doesn't do justice to the richness of our video game heritage. Atmospheric intros, carefully crafted videos, they bring a real emotional dimension. They awaken memories, they create a connection, they remind us why we fell in love with these games. Ultimately, an intro video doesn't just show off a game. It tells a story. It invites you on a journey. That's what makes all the difference. That's what makes the experience magical. And if you're ever looking for a specific theme, don't hesitate to ask me—even in English. Proof of concept :
  2. You're not alone in experiencing this difficult transition from Hyperspin HS1.5/HS2 to LaunchBox, especially when RocketLauncher is at the heart of your setup.::) Many enthusiasts are stuck between aging systems and modern frontends... and wanting the best of both worlds (LaunchBox + RocketLauncher with artwork, pause menus, screen fades) is a perfectly legitimate quest! Since a Windows update, HS1.5 has become unstable and even unusable. HS2 is shaky and poorly maintained. You want to switch to LaunchBox, but: RocketLauncher can no longer retrieve media correctly. From what I understand, you want to keep and Use RocketLauncher for its advanced features (pause menus, fade-in/out, bezels, etc.) and stay on a stable, sustainable, and flexible system. To do this, you can: Centralize the media in a single temporary folder Create a script that, each time a game is launched: Searches for the correct media (Clear Logo, Box, etc.) Temporarily copies them to a central folder that RocketLauncher reads Then deletes them after use Example: a batch or AHK that synchronizes images before launch Currently: There is no packaged or ready-to-use solution that completely fixes this issue. Several users have shared custom AHK scripts, but they are often abandoned or specific to their configurations. Otherwise, you can recreate the following features: Fade-in/out with custom intro videos Pause menus with tools like Pause Theme in BigBox Bezel & overlays directly with RetroArch or MAME. But be careful: it's not yet as powerful or customizable as RocketLauncher. Hence the interest in keeping RL if you've invested heavily in it. Clearly, you're at a pivotal stage: the old tools are falling apart, the new ones aren't everything. But it's entirely possible to create a solid bridge between LaunchBox and RocketLauncher with a little AHK ingenuity and common sense. I hope this helps (a little) - excuse me for the block.
  3. Excellent question, and you're clearly ahead of the curve.:) Currently: No LaunchBox doesn't natively support scraping from CUSA code. Instead, it relies on filenames, detected titles, CRC/hash, or "readable" folder names to identify a game. Someone should create a plugin.
  4. Hi ! You've highlighted a well-known limitation of LaunchBox: currently, the automatic playlist creation tool doesn't allow "Platform Category" to be used as a filter. This field is visible in the platform metadata, but it isn't exposed in the dynamic playlist filter system. This means that sub-platforms like "Capcom 1", "Capcom 2", etc., aren't included in a playlist filtering on Platform = Arcade. What you're proposing (and which would make sense): <PlaylistFilter> <Value>Arcade</Value> <FieldKey>Platform Category</FieldKey> <ComparisonTypeKey>EqualTo</ComparisonTypeKey> </PlaylistFilter> ... would be a perfect solution if only LaunchBox knew what to do with Platform Category in this context. The problem is that this field is not (yet?) supported in playlist XML. In summary: Good idea. Not yet natively possible in LaunchBox. But workarounds are possible, but manual. You could submit this suggestion to Jason Carr (the creator of LaunchBox) via the forums or the official Discord. It's a perfectly legitimate request, especially if you're working with complex setups like yours.

  8. Zelda Ultima Stand Alone Big Box View File 🗡️ Zelda Ultima is finally making its debut on the forum! NEW upload is DONE ! I wish it could have been easier, but I think this is a first — the servers just aren’t used to handling so many gigabytes. Uploading was a real nightmare.^^ I had to play it smart: splitting the files without creating too many parts, so you don’t get lost. Because let’s be honest — if there were 36 files to install, nobody would actually go through with it.😄 ✅🟩 FINAL STATUS: CHECK OK 🔹 Installation steps for Zelda Ultima Dezip with 7zip only! Create a Folder Zelda Ultima =Start with the first part: once unzipped, part of your Ultima will already begin to rebuild, and you’ll quickly find your bearings. Then move on to the second part, and so on: step by step, everything will fall back into place. ⚠️ Note: you may see some error messages during extraction, but don’t worry — the files will still unzip correctly. Final step – Zelda Final: this file was mistakenly placed inside a “Zelda Ultima” folder. 👉 You’ll need to manually extract its content: Place the .exe files and launch icons directly in the LaunchBox root folder. Copy the small “Video” folder to the root as well — it contains the intro Desktop 2025.09.10 - 09.54.38.06.mp4 3) Create a special folder: “Fan Game and Remake Unreal”( ( (You can skip this step if you do not want to benefit from bonuses)) Place it inside your Games folder. Extract individually inside it: Fan Games Part 1 Fan Games Part 2 Remake Unreal Temple of Time It should look like this: Games → Fan Game and Remake Unreal → (unzipped files) 4) Install the FONTS! Go to the folder “BEFORE TO LAUNCH”. Read the Tuto !!!! Install all the fonts (this step is crucial). ⚠️ Without them, you’ll lose about 40% of the visual consistency and encounter bugs. 5) Final adjustments: Install the HEVC codec to avoid black screens. Copy and paste your license. Disable updates (I stayed on version 13.21). 6) Useful controls: 🎮 R3 on the controller or V on the keyboard → switch the main theme (4 choices). 🎮 The very same control also lets you switch between the 12 different game views. 🎮 Back button → pause menu while in-game. ✨ That’s it! You’re ready to dive into Zelda Ultima. Take your time, explore, enjoy… and most importantly: share your feedback with me! 📜 Decree of Sharing — Zelda Ultima ⚔️ Hear me, wanderers. I have received countless requests — many from shadowed profiles, strangers from distant frontends. Out of kindness, I granted them an alternate path, a secret link to step inside this realm. But after years of creation, after countless hours shaping this Ultima, I asked for one simple tribute in return: your voice, your feedback, your impressions. Yet some are nothing but resource hunters, unable to see the work as a whole. Others don’t even launch the Ultima, content with taking without ever exploring. That is the least that honors this journey. If you desire the sharing to continue, if you want this adventure to live on, then show me it is worth it. ⚡ Give me strength. ⚡ Give me reason. ⚡ And I shall share even more. Thanks ! This is the oldest of my Ultima Editions, and the one that best captures the spirit of the entire project. It’s been locked away for three years, and I finally offered it to the staff so it could be shared with the community! I’m making a real effort to open things up a bit more — It’s time people finally discover the work I’ve poured into this. But I count on you to keep it clean, respectful, and above all... magical ✨ 🎭 This project must not end up as a messy torrent after all these years of work. We’re here to celebrate a passion, not to trash it. 🧰 What’s the Ultima format? A fully standalone, all-in-one experience that immerses you in a single legendary universe—crafted with a level of detail and customization rarely seen. It’s a digital collector’s dream, a tribute to iconic franchises like Zelda, Castlevania, Final Fantasy. Imagine the ultimate fan-made box set—beautifully designed, completely free, and overflowing with nostalgic passion. The goal behind the Ultima Editions is to bring digital games closer to the richness and charm of physical collections, which are becoming harder and harder to access (too rare, too expensive). So I pack in as many bonuses as possible: artwork, music, cinematic intros, hidden content… Each project, like Zelda Ultima, is built as a fully immersive collector’s experience. 🎁 What’s waiting for you inside? 🎨 A solid forty game themes, each evolving alongside my craft — polished, reworked, and bursting with character. 45 icons dedicated: 🖥️ 12 unique views — every slot filled, fully loaded, and ready to explore. A pause menu ( with the world map )a shutdown and of course a start theme! Most guides and encyclopedias have been converted into interactive flipbooks with animated backgrounds for maximum immersion. (One classic guide — A Link to the Past — is included by default so you can test the format.) 🎮 Fan-Made Remakes 5 playable demos of Ocarina of Time remade in Unreal Engine 4 & 5. Eye candy meets nostalgia. 🎧 Hey Listen! A curated selection of iconic Zelda tracks and fan-made covers. Turn it up — Hyrule never sounded this good. 🔍The Time Line in 3 part 🏛️ Temple of Time Explore the Temple of Time in real time, available in both VR and desktop mode. Atmosphere guaranteed . 🗡️ Art of Artifact Rediscover the saga’s most legendary items, reimagined and rendered with love. Master Sword chills included. 🎬 Short Films A handpicked selection of Zelda-inspired fan films. Some of them will absolutely give you goosebumps. ❤️ Another Pad Universes Explore the Trailers and Showcase sections for even more immersive ! Before you launch anything: Make sure your license is integrated (mandatory) Install the HEVC codecs to avoid black screens Install ALL the fonts — seriously, all of them — or some views might look totally broken You can launch in big box mode, (don't hesitate to do a little by the refresh box and caching in the system) 🛡️Credits: The Dream Team Here’s a quick spotlight on some of the amazing people who’ve helped shape this journey: 🎼 Sam Dillard on music — because you don’t save Hyrule without a soundtrack that gives you chills. 🎨 @Bellhenge created most of the icons (which I lovingly upscaled, pixel by pixel). 🎮 CryZenXX has been following the project closely and definitely deserves a shrine in the fan-made section for his Ocarina of Time Unreal Engine demos. 👑 Henricko’s Magnifico — I even crafted special icons and themes to showcase his breathtaking 4K patches! And of course, all the amazing contributors over the years — I’ve got a special thank-you video just for you. 💖 You’ve helped shape this dream, one sprite at a time. A massive thank-you to @y2guru, the Architect of the Community creator— Without him, none of this would have been possible. Thanks to @Mr. RetroLust for his enormous work on the console bezel ALTERNATIVE GAME THEME HERE : Looking for something less cinematic and more classic with gameplay for your themes? "Clair Obscur: Expedition 33" is probably my favorite game of the year, and I'm not the only one! The game just surpassed 2 million copies! Developed by a very young French studio based in Montpellier, Sandfall Interactive, it's a real worldwide hit. In stores, it's sold out. A real "success story," even for the music! A success that puts a lot of things into perspective , since it's developed by about thirty people and manages to outperform even the biggest developers, bringing back into fashion a system we thought was completely forgotten: turn-based! 15. Just a quick note about your themes! They're nice and dynamic! A few comments that will help you make the whole thing better! Fatal Fury: The theme is great, but your PNG title is in low resolution, which is a real shame. In 4K, it's easy to find. Look == Db is pretty cool too, but it lacks a small frame/it looks too posed/stuck on! And your intro has a questionable rendering in terms of resolutions, and likewise, you can find the animated title almost everywhere on YouTube! As for the rest, we'd definitely recommend Handbrake for your compression and for the weight, because it converts without losing quality I hope that helps you!!! At least a little
  16. I have reproduced almost all the historical native interfaces: ps4, ps3, ps2 wii, wii half of the existing "minis" views, 3ds switch, xbox box 360 it is perhaps the machine where I have gone the least far in terms of view but I think that in the end I will add some for the needs of my main theme if anyone wants advice or even assets: pm!

  18. This is totally in my wheelhouse — nothing technically overwhelming here, especially since I’ve already gone way beyond that kind of challenge. Funny thing, it actually reminded me that I once started adapting a project for someone… and in the end, they completely changed direction and switched to an entirely different universe 😄 I’ve already reproduced tons of official publisher collections, down to the smallest detail. I’ve also created brand new ones — and to be honest, I might’ve gone even further than the publishers themselves, lol. I’ve recreated the native interfaces of pretty much every major console, made custom “mini” views, and even developed a standalone “collection” format using the CTC (I’ve done five of those so far). Yeah, I know — sounds a bit like I just dropped my retro-gaming superhero résumé here 😄 But hey, I always worry about sounding arrogant, yet I’m not going to hide it either. It’s that little spark of creative madness :the drive to push the walls where others just stick posters. That’s the love of the craft right there. I adapt, I create, I have fun and it shows. Passion, attention to detail, and the desire to make every pixel shine. Right now, I’m in “well-deserved break before the next boss fight” mode — just wrapped up a big one. Now, it depends on how urgent this is for you, because I promised Exxodus I’d help with his project first. in a free frame here but if you decide to share I don't see why I would make you pay I don't know, we'll have to see, it depends on the amount of work I imagine, I haven't evaluated yet. But realistically, this could be done before the end of the year. I’d probably need less than a month for it, honestly. Either way — if you’ve already found someone, that’s great too 🙂 Catch you soon, and thanks again! II have a post here that summarizes a bit of my work:
  19. Hey everyone! I've been thinking for a while about creating animated wallpapers for LaunchBox themes, but I’m hitting a roadblock—I can’t seem to make the background completely transparent. Even after disabling colorization and turning off all the fixed background options, there’s still some kind of color showing... Is there any way to make it fully transparent so it blends right into my desktop wallpaper? If that’s possible, it could open the door to all sorts of crazy creations! Sure, it might eat up a bit of resources, but for those who can handle it, it would be seriously awesome. Thanks in advance for your help!

  22. @gibbagabbagoondeed! An updated version of this theme would be sweet. Cheers, my friend! Yep I always told myself that unconsciously I had taken a bit of City Hunter in the beginning of a production which was called Cyber Runner: I never finished it but really want to try as soon as I have a moment! some screens:
  23. I've used it for a long time, and it's also simple and highly customizable! The source files (ctc) aren't available, but if you're a bit familiar with HTML, it shouldn't be a problem! But it's clearly the custom theme on big box that made me want to do some customization. I could redo the view in question in a short time, but I'd have to redo the entire theme (perhaps an alternative version one day): I'd love to Glad to have been of some help to you!
